Hi all,

Decided to start a thread on what kind of aftermarket wheels people have on their D's, along with what tire sizes are on the wheels!!

These are the wheels I would like to use on my D when it is complete, I will also have the DMCH skirt/ground effects kit
http://www.xxrwheels.com/sportmax_006.shtml Black w/Silver lip FRONT: 17x7" 215/40/17 tires, and REAR: 18x7.5" 2.5" lip 255/40/18 tires
What do you guys think of the tire size?

Here are pictures of different wheels

Does anyone have these wheels on their car from DMCH??

This is so strange that you would bring this up right now as I've been researching the heck out of aftermarket wheels for the car.

What I seem to be finding is that you have to watch for a few things when shopping for wheels for this car. The offset is very important, especially for the fronts. The stock front wheels have a 35mm positive offset (usually what you would find on import type wheels) while the rears have a 19mm positive offset.

Those wheels you have picked out look nice, but you'll want to find out the offset so as not to have the front wheels stick too far out and hit the fenders. Also you'll want to make sure the hub bore diameter is large. The DeLorean is 72.1mm.

I also found a picture of that same ebay car (I think?) doing a Google search recently, and just loved the way the rims looked on the car. I think the "dish" looks very nice on these cars, although I wasn't crazy about the black centers.

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t165/andygarand/cars_028.jpg

So I started to hunt for some wheels that I thought might work on the car and this is what I came up with. G-Line wheels. G817.

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t165/andygarand/G8171.jpg

They come in the correct 4x100mm bolt pattern and have a 73mm hub bore. The offset is positive 38mm. So they will require a wheel adaptor/spacer for the rears. I was going to go with the 17x7.5 for the front with a 225/35/17. The tire diam. matches the stock 14"

http://www.aspecwheels.net/index.php?route=product/product&keyword=g817&product_id=447

For the rears, 18x8 with a 245/45/18.

http://www.aspecwheels.net/index.php?route=product/product&path=20_145_160_179_308&product_id=474

I tried to do a photshop, but I'm not very good at it. :o

http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t165/andygarand/leftsideshotsmall2-2.jpg

Still undecided if I'll like them or not, but also want to do a little more research.

How do you measure off set?? And what is meant by 35mm positive offsetfor front wheels and 19mm positive offset for rear??

P.S. Yes, that is the same car!!!

Ok, thanks for the info!!!! I also changed my mind about the wheels I wanted!! I like the ones you found!!! I will get them with black center! There is more info on them and easier to buy!! The other ones, I can't seem to find the offset for them and a proper place to buy them from. Ebay has them, but not the sizes/colors I want!! Too much research!!
I really love the dish look as well, the ones I found didn't have as much!! I fell in love with that cusotm Delorean I came across. I wanna give my car a bit of a modern look, since this is a timeless automobile, and the car of the future!!! :cool1: Also since I am working on the custom double-din dash!!

BTW, what part of NY are you from??

Oh...... I just noticed it's you Andy from the Foundation forum!!!! lol

Hi Billy, yeah it's me. :wave2:

Just to let you know, I havn't completed all the research yet to confirm these wheels will defintely work. I'm pretty sure they will, but I havn't actualy taken any measurments on the car with the wheels off to be 100% sure.

Now the front stock wheels are 14x6 and the narowest wheel for a 17" for the front they have avalible is a 7.5" wide. (1.5" wider) I don't think it will be a problem because the offset of the aftermarket wheel is 38mm which is very close to the 35mm of the stock wheel, but you also have to keep in mind the aftermarket rim is going to be wider. Without actually doing the math (just in my head) you can split that 1.5" in half which is going to be appox. 3/4 of an inch added to the inside and the outside width of a stock 6" rim on each side. Of coarse you can also compensate for the 3mm difference from the stock 35mm offset to the aftermarket 38mm offset, but 3mm is not much. There should be enough clearence there looking at the front wheels on my car because the rim and tire sits a quite a bit inward of the fender lip, so to push the wheel out another 3/4" shouldn't really pose any problems.

Looking at the front inside wheel well, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of a wider rim hitting or rubbing on anything, but some cars may require relocating the speedo cable a bit more out of the way. Again not 100% sure on this.

Now if you plan to lower the front of your car like mine is, tires are going to be a little tricky. I've found that the only size that would most likely work without any problems is something that matches the stock 14" diam. tire. I came up with the 225/35/17. Which is the same outside diam. but a bit wider. I don't think the width with be a problem though.

As far as the rears, you are going to need a wheel spacer/adapter though. I wouldn't get just a spacer, I would get an actual adapter (with pressed in studs) much safer.

You may have to shop around a bit for these or possibly buy a set and have a machine shop do some work to them. I know one of the DMC vendors was selling these at one time, but I think they are out of stock of them at the moment.

Here is an example of what I'm talking about:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-Lug-100mm-4-x-100mm-Wheel-Adapters-Spacers-1-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3a5f27eff5QQitemZ25070 4556021QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccesso ries

You'll notice on these though that they only have a 60mm hub bore, so they would need to be machined to accept a 72.1mm bore, or just keep searching for ones that already have a 72.1mm bore.

If you get one's like these that are a 1" thick spacer that should give you appox. a 13mm offset for the rear as compared to the 19mm offset of the stock rear rim. So these will make the rim stick out a bit further than the factory rim appox. 6mm. which should be ok. Again, this is how far I've gone on the research and need to do more, but I just wanted to give you an idea of what to look at.

$500 for a set of nice wheels with free shipping is not a bad deal though, huh? :)

Let me know how you make out. I would love to see some pics.

I'm not a big fan of a lot of the aftermarket wheels, but the two tone ones aren't bad. I've notice that BMWs run wheels similar to ours with regard to styling, straight spokes and thin, but not as many spokes as ours. I could go that way some day maybe.

The two tone ones might look really nice too, but I'd need to see them on the car in person. I've just seen two many appearance options that look one way in a photo and another in real life. Totally an emotional response, I know.

Not sure. I tried to figure that out myself. My best guess would be 18's. I think you would be hard pressed to fit anything larger than that in the front with the car that low.

It also looks to me that the front rims are the same size as the rears. Personally, I think it looks better if you keep with the original theme with larger rears than fronts. But thats just my opinion.

Aren't those the ones they were experimenting with for low-profile tires? I don't believe they've ever been made available to the public. I generally like the design of them, but don't like the bright aluminum look to them- they're too much brighter than the car itself.

This is something I always thought of but could never find anything I liked. I love the factory wheels with the light grey color, I always thought the dark grey looked more purple then grey lol

These don't look too bad... But I agree they are too bright... To me nothing beats the factory wheels ( with the balancing weights on the inside)

I very much like it. The stock wheel are the most beautifull and unique. Even among other vehicule they are of a very esthetical order! And to make it bigger by keeping the original design is a welcome move.
I could not imagine the D stock wheel mounted on an other car for example.
I always wonder who was in charge of the stock wheel design for the D? Not Giugiaro I think.

That is or was the project started by WelmoedJ from the Netherlands. Welmoed Jonker said there were not enough people to pay a deposit or was it pay the full amount before the wheels can be manufactured. So the project got cancelled.
I was one of those people that was interested but never actually sent any money since the project was put on hold indefinitely.
www.delorean.com has their version of the oversized DeLorean rims but I have not seen any thing about it either for a very, very long time.

If the Delorean is lowered on factory wheels, they will have an illusion that they are slightly bigger. Reducing the gap between the top of the wheel and the edge of the guard.

Cliff S. here in Cincinnati recently received a set of the 17" & 18" wheels from Martin. I saw them at the end of December. They were still in the shipping boxes so not yet mounted on a car but they looked awesome! I cant wait until he gets them on one of his cars. The wheels looked much more like the factory rims than the DMCH ones. These looked like they were cast and powdercoated unlike the DMCH ones which were machined.
EDIT: They actually looked like the rims in this video:

Having a bigger rim size of stock wheels would absolutely make it perfect and even more contemporary. The Delorean shape still looks awesome today, but the stock wheels do make it look dated sometimes.

We'll see if I get my hands on one of these sets of "big rims" otherwise we'll may strike a deal. Of course my car won't be rolling on them for a while though and I'm sure my "good tires" are flat spotted after 3 years. :( I've got a friend who powdercoats so I've got some options.

Chiming in late but here it goes,

Deloreans IMO look best with factory wheels. If we were in 1989, aftermarket wheels would take the car to the next level, but now in 2012, the car is an antique and can carry itself on it's own merits.

I have seen more than a few with aftermarket wheels that look very nice(Pyro's car and Faisal's come to mind). Although you gain a little more updated look, you loose a little of that era in which the car represents. It just doesn't look right anymore.

The ONLY thing I wish I had done with regard to wheels was buy those wheels a member tried to sell a few years ago. He took a set of rear wheels, machined them down and made fronts out of them. His car looked great with factory 15's all around. His rear tires were 225 15's and fronts were 205 15's and it was perfect! The only thing that kept me from doing it was I had a machined finish on my wheels and they wouldn't match.

They were on the old site when the seller posted pics of them on his car. I didn't save them but they looked like they belonged there. I believe he had the inside lip machine down and used spaces. He claimed it only rubbed at full turn.

Hi Everyone (and thanks to Mark for the nudge pointing me to this thread!).

To date, and excluding an earlier prototype set of 3-piece split rims, there are only two sets of those wheels in existence and Cliff has the second - the ones in the video linked by Nicholas are the first. I have yet to be in a position to take a decent photo on a car and is for this reason alone that I haven't promoted them. Cliff was brave enough to take a punt on me and them! I want to re-open this thread for discussion and updates. Everyone has an opinion (usually a strong one) on aftermarket wheels and sizes and style but that's part if the beauty if a community of same car owners/lovers.

I personally like the "updated" larger wheel look within tasteful reason. My favorite look of all the ones pictured and mentioned through this thread are the very first one pictured on the first post if the thread... The DMCH wheels that are very similar replicas if the factory wheels with the larger 17 front/18 rear set up with the machined finish and 2.5" rear lip.

I am just beginning my own research on what aftermarket wheels are available in the marketplace these days that are made in a 4-lug 17"/18" with the correct offsets and have a multi spoke look somewhere in the same family/ballpark as the factory design and a machined type finish (not chrome and not painted). Not sure if I am going to find anything that meets that criteria. The DMC-Houston wheels in the very first pic of this thread fit all that criteria but not sure if they are a ail able for purchase or if they are a "budget friendly" option.

Does anyone have any new info, research, pics, thoughts, etc on the Delorean aftermarket wheel conversation. I love the idea of having my factory set for an all origanal look as well as having an aftermarket set for a fun "updated" look as well. Look forward to new responses and re-opening new info on the topic. Thx

Hi Patrick,

Your car looks great! What size tyres have you?

I thought previously that 17/18 combination was too big for the DeLorean, but yours does look great. Althought I like what Martin in the UK did with a set of replica wheels in bigger sizes, I thought they looked too big for the car and not enough tyre showing. I'd love to see a factory style replica set in 16/17.

Mine are 15/16, so just one size up from factory - I do like the look of having a decent size of tyre sidewall visible. These are 15x7's on the front with a 35mm offset (205 50 15 tyres) and 16x9 wheels with a 20mm offset on the rear (245 50 16).

Your wheels are so gorgeous I decided to look them up. The prices are quite reasonable, in my opinion, so I may save up for a set. But I have a question to ask, if I may. Forgive my ignorance, but I have never dealt with wheel sizes before -- what do the numbers 4-100 and 4-114.3, and +40mm, etc. mean? I assume 4-100 means four-bolt pattern, 100mm distance between studs, so correct me if I'm wrong. What does the +40mm mean? Thanks, and congrats again on your gorgeous ride.

Patrick, She looks awesome. I am personally more of a fan of a muti-spoke aftermarket wheel on it but that is just nitpicking personal preference. The sizing looks great on it and I think it's a good example to those who think that 17/18 is "way too big". This is off subject for this thread but can you tell me about the rear spoiler and any additional pics?

I am now even more convinced that 17/18 is the size set-up I want to go with. The OEM "look-a-likes" that DMC-Houston did and show pics of on their facebook page are still my favorite option and I am trying to find out if those are available for purchase and what the price is/was for them. Did anyone buy those or look into details about buying those? Toby from DMC-NW mentioned he thought they were still trying to get a few more interested in placing an order to have enough orders to get a shipment manufactured. I have left 2 messages for James Espey at DMC-Houston and still waiting a call back. I was told he was the person to talk to about those wheels. Anyone have any info on those while I am waiting for a call back?

The offset off the centerline of the wheel is what that other number means. Click on this link for a visual: http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator

I use that calculator to make sure wheels will clear everything on the car and not stick out too far. It's a great tool, just like the Miata tire size calculator.

My car has XXR 502 wheels and BFGoodrich tires. 17" in the front, 18" in the rear. Original plastic DMC logo wheelcaps modified to fit the new wheels. Handles like a dream.

Patrick's car does look FANTASTIC!!!

Mine are 15/16, so just one size up from factory - I do like the look of having a decent size of tyre sidewall visible. These are 15x7's on the front with a 35mm offset (205 50 15 tyres) and 16x9 wheels with a 20mm offset on the rear (245 50 16).

John

The BBS style wheels don't look too bad either, and best on painted D's IMHO.

Hi Patrick,

Your car looks great! What size tyres have you?

Thank you! My tires are:

BFGoodrich G Force Super Sport 205/40ZR17 84W on the front 245/40ZR18 93W on the rear.

The offset off the centerline of the wheel is what that other number means.

Thanks! Having looked at that calculator, I now know I don't know enough about wheels yet.

This is off subject for this thread but can you tell me about the rear spoiler and any additional pics?

Absolutely. I think the spoiler adds to the sporty look of the car, but others disagree. In any case, it is a Trans-Am/Firebird spoiler that I painted with SEM Trim Black along with the louvres. This was the same spoiler that was sold as "DeLorean Specific" from some vendors in DeLorean World back in the day.

This is something I always thought of but could never find anything I liked. I love the factory wheels with the light grey color, I always thought the dark grey looked more purple then grey lol

These don't look too bad... But I agree they are too bright... To me nothing beats the factory wheels ( with the balancing weights on the inside)

I totally agree! They simply are unique.

Has anyone purchased these 17" front/18" rears from DMC-Houston? Or know anyone who has them? I'd like to know how they like them after getting them on the car and driving with them. Also would like to know what they paid for them.

$3250 plus shipping and possibly tax. Shipping would likely run about $100 and tax in FL would run another $195. That puts these over the price of DMCUK wheels. provided the price hasn't changed.

Like a lot of others, I too adore the stock wheels - there is just something special about it that cannot be easily explained like everything with the DeLorean.

To that end I spent the past year drawing, redrawing, and redrawing designs for how I would instead retrofit the stock rims to give them a more modern appearance plus solve a frustration I have with them.

A year probably seems like a long time but, amongst a couple of other DeLorean projects I've been designing in that same time, it takes a long time to go through many iterations and then look back later and still be 10,000% happy. Last thing you want is to do a major project and realise part-way in that you've already changed your mind.

I finally rubber stamped two of my designs a week ago, one of which being the wheels so yesterday I dropped them off to a wheel treatment shop and eagerly await picking them up in a week. They will either look as insanely awesome as I dream or I may be kicking myself for wasting a lot of money screwing them up! Will post pics regardless of the outcome :)

Spoke to them each day over the past few days and they were confident they would be over the difficult part the following day, which obviously did not turn out to be the case. Spoke to them today and they now assure me that have finally got that part of all four wheels done so full steam ahead, but won't be ready until Wednesday.

Interesting, yes looks similar! Hard to tell in your photo, but it looks like you machined the ends of your spokes. I kept those black - my aim being to give the outer end of the spokes a floating "pop" factor, and to give a very defined black ring edge before the centre section.

Whats size wheels do you think are these??
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t165/andygarand/cars_028.jpg

Does anyone have or know where to find any more pics of this specific car? I am considering going with a very similar look... black lower body kit and two tone wheels with an 18/19" front/rear stagger. My best guess is that this car has an 18/19" stagger or is at least 18" all around. Those look like 30 or 35 tire sidewall heights and for the wheel/tire to fill the well up that completely with that 30 or 35 series tire would have to make them at least 18" all around, if not 18/19" stagger.

I am sticking with a multi spoke wheel to stay within the same multi-spoke "family as the OEM wheels and not go too "baller" as a previous poster called it. I like the look of a bigger wheel when done in a classy/tasteful way that doesn't completely abandon the original OEM look (i.e. sticking with a thin multi spoke wheel although fewer spokes and larger diameter). I am looking at TSW Zolder wheels in 17x8" fronts and 18x8" rears with Yokahama S Drive tires (215/35/18 front and 255/30/19 rears). I know that most opinions will be that is too large considering the number of people who think the 17/18 stagger set-up is too big. But in my opinion this one above is the best looking set-up I have seen. I love the combo of it being lowered just right, black body skirts kit and black center wheels with the machined finish deep lip. The only things I am debating is sticking with 17/18" stagger (instead of 18/19" although the calculations say that 18/19" will work) and if I want to go black body skirts and black center wheels like this one or stick with all machined finished wheels and body paint match the body skirt kit. We all have our opinions on aesthetics but I am on the side that those 3 simple things (larger wheels still in multispoke design, lowering the car and the DMC approved body skirts kit with side, front and rear valances) modernizes the car without detracting from its 'classic' styling.

Aside from the purists (who I respect) that will say they don't like the look of any combo of those 3 things, I am looking for opinions on the choice between 18/19 stagger set up vs 17/18" and opinions on going with this same concept of the car above (black body kit and black center wheels vs painting the body kit to match the stainless and going with all machined finish wheels.

Here is a pic of a car with the body kit painted to match the stainless in comparison to the black above. And below is a pic of the wheels I am going with in both all machined finish and black centers with machined lip.

I am also considering these TSW 'Silverstone' wheels. They are very similar to the TSW Zolder above but they have the rivets look and they have a few more spokes that are slightly more thin that the Zolder spokes. This one also comes in machined finish or black finish centers...

Although I don't know the owner, I may be able to help. That owner took a set of rear wheels, and had the inside machined down so they would fit the front. I'm not sure if he just had the lip machined, or if the centers had to be cut down as well. He said these is a slight rub at full steering lock, but that's it. If memory serves, he was running 205/50/15's on the front, or something similar.

He was selling those wheels on the .com site, but I can't remember if he ever did. That was years ago so I seriously doubt he still has the car or the wheels, and I doubt you will ever hear from him.

Josh

I believe what Micheal means by cutting the centers down is that the rim was cut cross sectionally, a portion removed, then welded back together to make the rims narrower. This would definitely be quite a project.

Michael

Actually I was referring to the inside face(where the lugs are). I'm not sure if he even touched that part or not, but I know for sure he mentioned the inside lip was cut down some. I also remember someone in the DeLorean vendor community (Maybe Don S.?) told him it couldn't be done and he did make mention it when he was putting them up for sale.

If you ask me, that was one of the best looking wheel options I have seen yet and if I didn't have the machined wheel option on my car I would have bought them myself....In hindsight I should have done so anyway and finished them myself to match the rears.

PS, He took a few pics of the car and the pictures he took from the front really looked good.

Thanks, Mike. The fronts are 17x7 (4x100 bolt pattern) (I believe a 40mm offset) and the rears are 18x8.5 (4x100 bolt pattern) (I believe a 35mm offset.) I am using DMCNW's rear wheel spacers, but I have no rubbing issues of any kind with these wheels.

And thanks for the compliments on the fascias. I went on a whim and picked a Jeep 2012 Mineral Grey Metallic paint for the fascias that is a pretty close match for the early paint colors. Several other owners followed suit with the same color after seeing mine in person.

Thanks for the specs, I'll do a similar wheel but in their "chrome black" I think it's called. is anyone still offering the wide stripe kit? I see John H has them on his website, but that's an iffy possibility at best.

Does anyone have a good digital photo of the OEM DMC logo in the wide stripes? I think I could photoshop it a little, and send it out for printing on vinyl, then we could just cut out a rectangle and drop in this little insert. I bet you couldn't tell it wasn't OEM without getting down on your hands and knees.

Actually, I do remember now that I had to slightly roll the lips of the rear fenders just a touch so that they wouldn't rub the tires on dips. I used a wooden hammer handle and it took maybe 10 minutes per side. No one will ever notice.

So bringing this thread back.

I was gonna go with XXR wheels, but can't really get the ones I like, mainly the 18's in 4 bolt.

I am looking for the concave look. I will be definitely putting the DeLorean ground effect kit. i even bought Toby's rear spacers.

I came across Ruff wheels R959 4x100. I really like them. Looks like I won't have to use Toby's spacers on these.

Rear wheels: 18x8.5" offset 17mm which will fit perfect.

Front wheels: 17x8" offset 35mm Not sure about the fit on these. Anyone have experience working with wheels on these cars?

Here's a video of the Momo's I installed with 18" rear and 17" front w/ Michelin Pilots. The ride is unbelievable. The color is Aranthricite and I have a matching colored side stripe for the car thanks to Patrick C that I need to install.

No way, I was considering these exact wheels! They do look good.

In your description you have the front width at 245. Is that right?

So I take it the front 17s are 8" wide, offset 35mm as well?

They are 17x7 in the front with a 42mm offset and have no issues with rubbing at all. They just miss the sway bar perfectly. The stock offset is 40mm so an 8" wheel with 35mm will probably rub if making a sharp turn and will need a spacer. The rear is a 42mm offset at 18x8 and will require hub centric spacers from Toby at DMCNW for $200. This is mandatory. The tires are 205/40R17 and 245/40R18

So to follow up, I researched Patrick C's wheel offset at 40mm front and 35mm rear offset. Compared to mine at 42mm offset both front and back, I don't think 8" @ 35mm in the front is going to have enough clearance. You will definitely need the rear spacers between 35-42mm or the wheels will be too far inside the wheel well.

More info: If the wheels that you are after have a 35 mm offset, then the adapters will correct that to the difference between the two numbers: 35 – 25 = 10 mm. The stock wheel has a 19 mm offset, and is installed in conjunction with a 3 mm thick spacer. For my aftermarket wheels at 42mm, you will end up with the wheels positioned a tiny bit further out than stock (by 9 mm) which is less than ½ inch. This is fine.

Front: front wheel should be okay, although you will still have to watch for rubbing of the inside lip on the sway bar. 7" is a better fit than the stock wheels that are 7 ½ inches wide, but still a different fit than stock.

The wheels that I am looking at, Ruff R959 are 18x8.5" with a 17mm offset for the rear, which won't require spacers. Even though I already bought them from Toby.

I am worried about the front, 17x8 and 35mm offset. I don't mind if there is some rubbing on the bar when turned all the way, as long as there is no other interference.

Was wondering if other know any more info

Here is a wheel and tire fitment calculator online

According the calculator the front wheels I am looking at will be 1" wider on each side. Wondering if it will interfere with fender or anything major?

You are definitely going to stick out at least
.9" in the front and I feel pretty confident you will rub the lip of the sway bar when making tight turns in a parking lot just a bit. For the front fender, you will probably just rub the lip of the fender when loading the front end over a bump by a smidge. It's really tough to say until you get them on because you're right on the threshold of your limit. Tough call. I wish I could be more help. I'd give Toby a call to discuss it with him, but I think you're going to get the same exact response. Good luck Billy! Can't wait to see a photo of your new shoes!

This took some doing to adapt but all seems to fit well.

Those tires look like they have a pretty aggressive tread -- how's the ride?

BFGoodrich g-Force COMP-2 A/S, 205/45/16 and 245/45/17. I really wanted a pure summer tire but I drive enough into the cold & rainy fall and figured an A/S tire would be more predictable in those conditions. Things get sketchy in the fall on my DD running Potenza S04 and that's with a front engine.

I've only put about 4 miles on but they seem comparable in ride quality to the Pilot Exaltos they replaced, which were 195/60 and 225/60 on the stock wheels.

Compared to stock wheels w/ Exalto:
The front wheels are +10mm and -4lbs
The rear wheels are +20mm and +1lb

Rears are actually 1.4lb lighter but the adapter adds 2.4lb

I'll add about 800miles total traveling to DCS and should have more of an opinion in a week!

Does anyone know the owner of this car?

http://i41.tinypic.com/mc82n4.jpg

I believe it was posted on the .com site before it was taken down.

I have a few questions for him/her....

Thanks.

I can't get over how good this looks. I would *love* to see more photos of it!

I remember reading about the project to make the factory wheels bigger ages ago and wish it had come to fruition. It's something I'll look into way, way down the road with my car - I'm not a fan of the DMCH interpretation. My car has been slammed to close the wheelarch gaps by the PO and I think it throws the whole body shape off (gives it Countach-esqe flabby flanks behind the door), but bigger, stock-looking wheels like that would close the gap, and make a world of difference to the look of the car, without loosing and of it's character - I really love it.

Any update on this thread? I'm going to need new tires and have debated new wheels with little or no mods.

Are you asking all 3 of us?

My setup requires no suspension mods, only spacers in the front and adapters in the rear (spacers with integrated studs). 205/45ZR-16 and 245/45ZR-17 tires.

It was necessary to add spacer to the sway bar to center the wheel in the wheel arch. I also modified the upper control arms to add negative camber, added rear wheel spacers and rolled the fenders.
