I was wondering if there are any Massachusetts Delorean owners out there to get together with as I have been out of the Delorean scene for fifteen years. Back in the day I was among the Delorean owners in the New England area who started the DOA Chapter 22. But it looks like there is no active group out there now and most of the members have gone on to other things and or have died. Thanks much EWK

I'm in the southern MA area, but have only been active after getting my Delorean back 2 years ago. It seems that there is very little Owners group activities here.

I'm in Bonita Springs as I type this. Came back down here to re-test drive 6369 after purchasing it in November and having DMCFL do some work on it. I won't be having it shipped up for at least a month, but would love to get to know some locals and get some advice!

I'm in Norton, MA. My car is currently undergoing an engine swap, but I hope to have it on the road again before the end of spring -- just in time to take it off the road again to rebuild the A/C system for summer.

Wow, had never heard of them. Interesting statement there. They are even borrowing DMCH's checkerflag logo.

I live in NYC, but i've had my car in MA for the last 5 years. It's been off the road for the past 2 due to a couple issues. I'll be heading up to work on it sometime in May-June, but I can't say for sure that i'll have it registered and on the road this year. If you do plan on meeting up or even starting a small email group through here definitely keep me posted.

My car is in Wakefield, MA and i've heard of 2 others in the Northshore area, one steel and one painted silver. Not sure who they are though. If you give me enough notice I could come up to meet.

One thought would be to get together at a cruise night or car show. If people agree we should change or break out this thread to title it New England Area gathering or something to include all DMC owners in the New England region.

Very good ideas The Mass Cruisers would the most flexible as they have them every two weeks. Larz Anderson would have to be a meet that would make sense..British car day??

I brought mine to Larz Extinct car show late August in maybe 2012. It a few unique cars but people even brought a Geo tracker and Grand Am. I'd recommend a different show.

As for a cruise I might be able to join late summer of it's Eastern MA greater Boston.

My favorite show, and in my opinion the best around hands down, is the Bay State Antique Auto Club (BSAAC) Car Show at the Endicott Estate in Dedham MA. This year is the 44th Annual, taking place on Sunday July 12. I've been going there off and on since I was a kid, and have seen DeLoreans there. I just joined DMCTalk and I'm excited to see there's a New England presence. I'm in the market for a 1981, so if you see or hear of anything through the grapevine, please let me know! http://www.bsaac.com/2015-endicott-show.html

Yes the Dedham show is a good show. But there is an even better show on Fathers day June 21st 2015 in Wellesley MA at Elm Bank which is the headquarters for the Massachusetts Horticultural Society so that means that there are gardens with flowers and nice shade trees it is a perfect setting for a car show. The web site for the show is WWW.elmbankautoshow.net They are into there 13th year with over 800 cars last year. There have been Deloreans at the show including a BTTF Delorean. P/S I do know of a 1981 Delorean for sale in Vermont

Hey everyone, I'm a newbie to the community from the Boston area. I've had a project Delorean for the past 10 years, but it has been pretty rare to meet other Delorean owners at any of the shows I've been to in the Northeast. I normally go to the Rolex Classic Show at Lime Rock Park, Larz Anderson shows and Stowe Antique Car Show, but that Elm Bank Auto Show looks great!

In Southern California we call that a "chance" of rain -everything in SoCal is typically more laid back and non-threatening... except wildfires and earthquakes...

I made it! It was a nice show in a great location, but you wen't the only one that didn't make it because of the weather. Evan and another fellow (who's name escapes me at the moment) were there with their Deloreans and they looked great. I'll keep my eye out for other good shows that we may all be able to attend. Maybe Lime Rock on labor day weekend?

Hoping someone might be able to help. I moved to Great Barrington, MA. about a year ago and my DMC has been working fine so I don't yet have a local mechanic to partner with for repairs and general maintenance. Does anyone know of anyone in the Berkshires who works on and feels comfortable with Deloreans? The car wouldn't start today - it just won't turn over and I can't figure out the issue. It fired up yesterday just fine. I'm supposed to show it on Wednesday and I'm in a bind. Thanks to anyone who can provide a referral of someone to call! Appreciate your help.

Hi! Perhaps you could reach out to Joe Marchese, who's just over the border in New Lebanon NY, about 30 minutes from you. He's had a D for sale for sometime at his dealership, and may be familiar with someone who's experienced working on them. I've actually had my eyes on the car he's selling for quite some time, and we've corresponded about it. I made an offer that was too low, so I'm still waiting to see if he'll dip his price anytime soon! His email is [email protected].

Not to be a party pooper but the above museum has a British Car Day in Brookeline Mass. every June. Coincidentaly it also falls on the 26th this year. I last went to this show around 1992 but I remember being impressed with the size and scope of the cars presented as well as the setting on "The Great Lawn" on the bank of a river and even a brass band playing tunes. If I were to pick an event to see in Mass. that weekend this would be my choice. Would anyone consider meeting up there?

You're right about low attendance in the Northeast these days. Back in 92 the New England Delorean club showed up in force at that show. I'm guessing we had twenty cars or more. Now there is no club up your way although there was an attempt at one a few years ago. We'll be lucky to get a half dozen to show up at a single event these days but I believe this will be a great venue regardless with a big field of quality cars.

Hey folks! Sorry, not a Delorean owner myself but a big fan. I am a "muscle" bike guy and enjoy fixing them up, restorations and customs.

I recently customized a 1976 Ross Apollo to be Delorean themed and am probably going to sell it off soon to make some space for new projects. However, before I sell I did want to get a couple pictures of it next to the real thing. That is where you come in! I am looking for someone close to the metro Boston area that will let me take a photo of the bike next to their Delorean. If anybody could help me out please drop me a line at [email protected]

A 1989 Monaco engine, so the "standard" Premier/Monaco swap. I actually sent my SPEC I exhaust to Josh at DPI a while ago to be quieted down (I decided I want a quieter car instead of a more powerful one; the engine swap was because of a hole in my 2.8L block), so I'm really just waiting to get it back so that I can start tuning.

Does anyone know who's BTTF Delorean was at the Oscars with Michael J. Fox?

Is anyone interested in driving their Delorean into Boston for an event in early May 2017?

I was wondering if there are any Massachusetts Delorean owners out there to get together with as I have been out of the Delorean scene for fifteen years. Back in the day I was among the Delorean owners in the New England area who started the DOA Chapter 22. But it looks like there is no active group out there now and most of the members have gone on to other things and or have died. Thanks much EWK

I was in Springfield this past weekend. On the way there from NYS, I'm 90% sure I saw a DeLorean on the opposite side of I-90. The weird thing is: there was something on top of the car....not sure what.

I went to the Milford MA. car show yesterday and saw a nice 1982 Delorean that I had not seen before. The owner has had it since 2005. He has done some nice things to the car.

That'd likely have been me with my bike rack on the rear. Don't judge. :-P

I've thought many times about a bike rack! For those times I'm away from home and want to run up to the store without being overly social. Do you have any pics?

I have the luggage rack and was considering a folding bike, like a Brompton or similar.

Not that one but this one I made for the Fat Bike:

It bolts to the stock rack using the existing threaded ski rack holes. Cut radiator hose used in between to avoid scratches.

Another shot showing just the custom part which sits on the stock rack.

Good morning!

My brother lives near Worcester and is looking for an experienced DMC tech to work on his DeLorean. His local guys aren’t experienced with the car and are having a tough time tracking down an intermittent cooling issue. Any recommendations? A shop in RI and CT would be ok too.

Thanks

I understand that there is plenty of do it yourself help. That’s not what I’m looking for. Surely someone in MA or CT has a shop they bring their car to. That’s what I’m interested in.

I have a bodyshop/ repair garage in RI. I work on my own Delorean all the time. I could take a look at it for you... Maybe you have an air pocket, bad water pump, Radiator fan issues. thermostat issue, otterstat issue, bad head gasket or something of that nature.

Sorry about the ridiculous delay on this, raising this thread from the dead. Here's a quick pic I have on hand. Happy to take more if people want more detail. This was one of the first outings with the rack on, but shortly thereafter added a second bike to the rack with more than enough roo

I designed and printed an adapter (https://cad.onshape.com/documents/1e6816c0cdf54dc39e20e4f0/w/f628c49b1f4446b78e8a8bdd/e/d5d2f0799e4f45bd9bedcd58) so that the RockyMounts Pitchfork bike rack could attach securely to the smaller-diameter DeLorean luggage rack.

Very cool! I did end up going down slightly different path. For my travel riding needs this Dahon fits the bill.
