Announced earlier today - Volo Auto Museum to Give Away a DeLorean Time Machine if Cubs Win 2015 World Series

(hopefully, it's not the one created years ago for Volo, for the Cars are the Stars Collection by George Barris)

Brain Grams, the guy who runs the Volo fraud factory, is a pathological liar and a clinically insane lunatic. Talking to the guy is what I imagine it's like being a cat trying to catch a laser dot. I couldn't possibly say any worse about a human being or a dealer than I could those nut jobs. How are they still open and in business??? The fraud lawsuits alone should have ended them long ago.

Hmmm, must be one reason he gets along with George Barris so well.

That's a picture of a toy DeLorean. Who's to say he even has one to give away at all?

I think its a real car but the time machine stuff has been Photoshopped in. There's too many parts of the original car that would never be duplicated on a toy. Look at the way the door straps hang and the bluing on the exhaust pipes. Meanwhile some of the time machine bits are our of scale - like the time circuits switch and the wormhole emitter.

Cheers

Looking at some of the other press releases for this contest, it is the "Barris" car being offered.

Unless they modified it in the last few years, it is an 81 with a flat hood and almost entire hood
is written on with Sharpie marker "George Barris Cars are the Stars Collection" centered on hood.

Back on the old .com, there was plenty of discussions on the inaccuracies (non-screen correctness)
of the props used in and on the car, but the car was being presented as screen accurate.

Next time I am in the area, I may take some current photos, to post in this thread.

This is the only semi-decent pic on the current website

I've seen it in person a few times (Volo is close to us at Midwest). I'm no BTTF detail expert, but it's about the worst attempt at a movie-correct conversion I've ever seen. And yes, Barris wrote all over it. The wording on the plaque that attempts to talk around the fact that it isn't a screen-used car is hilarious.

That explains why I thought the time machine parts were Photoshopped on and out of scale.
So it's real then... Real shitty.
