NOTE: when using a vacuum pump, use an intermediate vacuum chamber container to catch fluids, and then attach vacuum to the accumulator instead of hooking directly to your bad accumulator as shown. On the new accumulator it didn't matter because it was dry and never had fuel in it.
This will keep gas out of your vacuum pump and not force you to buy your dad a new one. :)
