I heard through the Delorean grapevine that DCS 2016 is no longer going to be in Indianapolis and might be in Chicago. Anybody know if there was an announcement?

thanks

No "official" announcement yet, but an official announcement will be coming soon, most likely announced at the DMC MW Open House next weekend.

Unfortunately, with the lack of any official announcements, speculation has been running wild and most of this speculation (or guessing) is incorrect.

Until an official announcement is made, here are a few confirmations about what DCS 2016 will NOT be:

- DCS 2016 will not be in Indianapolis (for several reasons - most of which are due to scheduling conflicts).

- DCS 2016 will not be in Chicago area (mostly due to venues already being booked for Summer of 2016)

- DCS 2016 will not be on Father's Day weekend (again, many venues already booked for this date in 2016)

- And, as of now, Ken K. is not coming out of "retirement" (however, Ken K. remains a valued DCS advisor)

More to follow soon.

I am starting a rumor that it is going to be in New Orleans, which I'd love to see.

Part 2 - Until an official announcement is made, here are a few confirmations about what DCS 2016 WILL BE:

- DCS 2016 will be held in the Midwest

- DCS 2016 will be held in mid to late July 2016

- DCS 2016 will be partially funded by a DeLorean Raffle Car 2015 (to be awarded in late 2015)

- DCS 2016 will be partially funded by a DeLorean Raffle Car 2016 (to be awarded in mid 2016)

- DCS 2016 will be planned and managed by the DeLorean Midwest Connection club, Mid-States DMC club and others

- DeLorean Raffle Car fundraising efforts will be supported by DeLorean Midwest Connection club, DMC Midwest and others

Since we are talking about rumors the one I heard was:
It was scheduled for Indianapolis with a track day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. However in the contract Indy stated that if they get a better offer they can cancel, and they did.

Hmm, I see a potential that we could turn this thread into a "MAC/Apple-like advertising/rumor campaign". :nana1:

Somebody from the planning commitee should go out there and take some blurry shots of the new (or any other) location near the location where it finally will be (some back alley) and "leak" it in the forum under a different username with a text: "We found some leaked pictures of the future DCS event site on a harddrive of a planning committee member and were able to smuggle it out of the planning committe's meeting room. The sources has prooven to be correct on several occasions were rumors were leaked about former events."

This stuff usually gets the Apple crowd wild and I guess that we could fill several pages in this forum with speculations until the final "DCS 2016 Keynote Event".

We have a racetrack just out side the city.
We have ROUTE 66 and great locations for photography!
St Louis Arch!
FREE Worldclass Zoo!
Delorean-friendly

P.S. I just joined, but Saint Louis area would be my vote for Convention in 2016!!!!

St. Louis is not the location for DCS 2016, but it is on the list for possible DCS 2018 locations.

We are still hoping to complete negotiations and sign the contract for DCS 2016 very soon,
however, it is difficult to get all of these details worked out, while in a "part-time" manner,
and to get everyone on the DCS Planning Committee, in agreement and on the same page.

Sorry, no super secret agenda here ... just being extra careful and complete with contracts.

Once the DCS 2016 contracts are in place, the DCS Planning Committee will begin work on
the location selection process for a DCS 2018 location (to be announced at DCS 2016).

Someplace near the motor city might be nice given the proximity to greenfield village or the big 3 automakers developmental museum collections.

I AGREE!!!! Also because people can see Visioneering, where JZD was buried, GM Tech Center, other DMC important places, add, Greenfield Village and if you hold it in Mid August, could take over the Woodward Dream Cruise.

Detroit, Troy and other places should be falling all over themselves to want your business. Their are shuttles to the Casinos downtown etc, then you have Canada, for the Canada owners/enthusiasts. For cruising we have Woodward Avenue and Gratiot with MANY people to oogle the massed D's.

Just a thought. I'd even volunteer my time to run the paperwork if paperwork needed to be ran! I'm a good gopher.:biggrin: PM me if you need a good gopher.

This location has been on the Top of the List for DCS 2018 since the DCS Planning Team started working on DCS 2016 a few months ago.

Dennis, as you know (and have attended), the DeLorean Midwest Connection club and the DeLorean Motor City club have been celebrating
the JZD and DeLorean "connection" to the Motor City for the past decade, since JZD passed away in 2005.

The DeLorean Heritage Tour and other subsequent tours during "Woodward Weekend" have been very positively received by the DeLorean
community and the current residents of many of the buildings that were significant to the DeLorean history and JZD's life in the Motor City.

Of course, we have another big DeLorean display planned for this year (BTTF 30th Anniversary) at the Woodward Dream Cruise 2015.

I did not know this. Maybe the club should have a press release for Channel 7 news in Detroit so those BTTF and DeLorean fans will make it a point to come out/greater exposure????

I never saw anything about it in the past.....on Channel 7 or 4 or 2...BTW unless I am GOING to the "Cruise" most Detroiters try to avoid Woodward that weekend because it is positively FUBAR in the cities of Ferndale, Royal Oak, Bloomfield Hills and Pontiac because of it. Woodward, as you well know, crosses the northern spine of Detroit so, if you have to get to Novi from Port Huron, your choices are I-94 or I-696 or it's "Honey, we'll just wait until next weekend to visit the inlaws...." :D

(but if I saw DELOREANS there I'd be there like white on rice, and definitely plan on making it as how I should have mine by then):biggrin:.

We have been working with Marie Gould from WXYZ-TV (Woodward Dream Cruise Producer) for the past few years, and again this year,
including a pre-Woodward TV Show that has been in production since early May, with local Detroit area DeLorean owners being featured.

The DeLorean Display (10-15 cars) has been at the Bloomfield Hills - Mercedes Benz dealership the past few years and we have already
reserved 10 spaces there again this year. It's not the "center" of attention, but it is a really nice location, for a very reasonable price per
space, with all the proceeds going to several local charities. The other nice benefit is "unlimited" in-out (park/cruise), so you can park for
a while, cruise for a while, then repeat the cycle as many times as you want. (some parking locations limit the number of in-out events).

The DeLorean Motor City club has photo documented all of the Woodward events since 2005 and still has photos (with some comments)
posted on their website, including photos from the JZD Heritage Tour(s). See a few of the event links below:

The past few years, more and more of the event photos and activities have been posted on Social Media vs. the DMC club websites,
so feel free to check out those links as well from the Midwest DMC club, the Michigan DMC club and the Ohio DMC club.

Recommend you use extreme caution when driving in and out of some areas, and its probably best not to visit some of these areas alone, even Sunday morning.

Thank you the concern but JZD grew up 5 miles from where I grew up (9 mile and Hilton). I agree that Highland Park (where his home is at--I didn't know the exact address), I wouldn't go there at night but y'all are the crazy ones for taking D's anywhere close to Detroit lol! Those folk down there like to steal anything shiny (or stainless) for that matter. :). When I get mine, I'll hit that invisible barrier called 8 mile and catch up to you back on the way north of y'all have any D's left ;). Joking about the stealing part, not joking about the 8 mile part. I promised myself to keep the D out of the D...I'll be taking my DD down there to see his house. If anybody doesn't want to take their D down I can seat 4 in my DD. JZD was kind of a folk hero in Hazel Park and that other HP. I liked the guy for sticking it to the man and was sad to see him get arrested. Not too many people of note famous-wise came from where we grew up. Code name for Hazel Park is "Hazel'tucky". JZD was one of our own.
