I think seans been pretty tolerent. There have been several snide comments and even "in your face" nonsense who the hell cares threads, that were started just to either start a pissing match or a he said it why cant I? Im not picking on you directly Bill, these are just general observations. Sean aint so bad. His lack of tolerence for electric smokers however...just damn. He has no clue... :)

:poke:Please gentlemen (and ladies if applicable), a modicum of civility. We all know Bill to have his strong opinions and preferences, not to mention his courage to stand up to his convictions and to take on all challengers thereto. Some take exception to this, perhaps rightfully so, but some also see it as an inalienable right.
Conversely, Bill's contributions to solving non-carb related problems or otherwise contributing to the general good of the community is to be commended. I know for one, I have benefited from many of his posts. His research, willingness to share, documentation and first hand experience in many cases is very valuable indeed.
Let Bill have his thread(s), to opine as he would and let those that wish to visit do so. I know for one, when MY threads are jacked or otherwise abused, I too get upset. Let the thread owner set the rules for that thread.
Those who know me might be surprised at my attempted role at peacemaker, but I beg your indulgences. Bill, perhaps any strong negative opinions could be private rather than public? All others, perhaps we could be more sensitive to publicly pushing Bill's buttons to respect a fellow member?
We all have our strengths and weaknesses. In the immortal words of Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?"
This is not a "Bill Defense" as I'm sure he neither needs it or wants it. I personally enjoy and benefit from diversity and strive to find the means by which it can thrive without compromising the integrity of the community.

As a mod of another forum I'll add my 2 cents worth.
I am far from moderate, however that does not stop me from seeing through the BS in a forum. Our rules are attack ideas not other members and no 4 letter words.
Now onto the job of moderating itself, it's usually a "NON paid" position, so members should back off the mods or step up and become one if they think they can do a better job. If you have a beef with a mod you should address them via PM or e-mail disagreeing with a mod over his/her actions should never be done in the forum.
Sometimes there is a fine line that a mod must walk, sometimes it is a persons track record that makes a mod act/react to a post or comment.
As a mod you try and please the forum members as much as you can (at least I do) but when the time comes you fall back on this saying: you can't please everyone so you've got to please yourself!"
So if somene is getting on Sean or another mod here either step up and do the job or shut up.
Here's to the mod's, they never get enough credit.

Nothing to feel bad about, Bill can be a pretty funny guy and in person he is pretty cool to hang out with. I too like most of technical content. +1 on this. I had the chance to meet up with Bill and a few other owners a month or two back and I have to say he's one of the most interesting people I have met to date. Oh, boy, has this been entertaining. This site has some of the most flexible moderators I've seen, of those who actually DO moderate. It's really not that bad and a far cry from Nazi Germany. I don't see the moderators sitting around wearing Gestapo uniforms and plotting against "enemies of the site."

+1 on this. I had the chance to meet up with Bill and a few other owners a month or two back and I have to say he's one of the most interesting people I have met to date. +1 Yeah and I was there too (even though I'm not an owner) and it was the second time I've been to an event and talked to Bill. He's been nothing but nice to me. It's pretty amazing to see people bashing Bill on the forum when they most likely have never met the guy. He's charismatic and has great advice (especially for a guy like me who doesn't own a DeLorean yet and has questions). He even offered to let me drive his car.
It's a shame because almost everyone I've met who owns a DeLorean is really nice and more than happy to share advice and give helpful tips but you wouldn't know it looking at a thread like this.

Very well said. I have met Bill in person, and he seems like a nice guy, but can be (at times) something totally different online.

If you don't like what's on TV, turn it off. If you don't like the political and religious thread (on the old site) DON'T GO IN. Actually, I was the one that coined that particular term. It refers to username "theMonch" or something to that effect. He was under the impression that anyone can purchase a perfect DeLorean for only $15K. Apparently now, it is also one of those descriptive words that can appear in any heated topic.:flamed:

A while back, Bill told me his account had been "erased from existence" or some such dramatic phrase, but when I looked, his profile was still there, the threads he started were still there, and so were all of his posts and photos. The word on here was that his posts had to be approved by a moderator -- which is quite different from what Bill seemed to think was going on... and, by the way, how the DML still works.

Bill suspects his account has been closed. His user name and password are no longer working. Sean says Bill's account is still active but future posts will be moderated. Thats about all I know.
My guess is that Bill's password got screwed up somehow and he thinks his account is banned since he can't sign in.

Someone created a false identity and used it to post stuff on the DML back when James gave away ownership of the DML and joined DMCH.
I don't remember exactly what went on but I do remember a lot of people being upset about something.

Bill knows exactly whats happened and has even posted once since being put on the moderated list. Him thinking or suggesting otherwise is just him trying to drum up attention and pump false drama. If he truly thinks something is wrong with his account he can pm or email or call me, I gave him all my contact info. This thread needs to die now because we are on the cusp of dragging the mess back out when it's been a great few weeks, drama free and if you want to learn more about what Steve is getting at search the DML.
