Just a few weeks ago, someone kindly posted a warning for a DMC for sale on Ebay. I would like to do the same here. I found this car about 3 years ago for sale local to me. It was for sale forever, somebody obviously bought it and is now trying to "flip it" without doing a damn thing to the car. It is listed for a starting bid of $18K, too much for this car. It has all the typical mechanical neglect, but it is rather sound cosmetically. Sadly, there was a complete write-up and pics on the old dmctalk.com website when I found the car. Oh well. This is a buyer beware! Link for the curious....

Interesting how the fuel distributor is orange. Wonder where that came from. What was the writeup on the old site?

possibly, at first glance i would've assumed it was a rebuilt unit or something. it is an exceptionally clean engine bay in the pic. The FD was the only thing that caught my eye.

I had found the car for sale, went to look at it, took lots of pics and made a list of things that needed attention. I posted all of that to the old dmctalk.com website. It was close to $8,000 worth of parts alone to make the car roadable (not including labor).

Exactly. Those were the only 2 replaced coolant hoses on the car, all the rest were original.

Orange is the color of rust.

Rust is also known as oxidation, which occurs when oxygen comes in long-term contact with certain metals. over time, the oxygen combines with the metal at an atomic level, forming a new compound called an oxide.

So it's got an "oxide coated distributor" - you pay extra for that!

People on ebay are slow. If you are going to sell a classic car for any decent amount of cash, could you please write more than 2 sentences and not talk like you're in 8th grade? Seriously, wow.

Relisted with lower starting bid now. I assume this current owner bought it from the previous owner for $16K. That was the bottom price the previous owner would accept, and in my opinion was too high for what it was. Like I said previously, this current owner is just trying to flip it and make a few thousand off of it. The work he mentions being done was by the previous owner, and it was all done incorrectly. It would have to be re-done. Can't blame him for trying, but I don't want to see anyone get burned by a sub-par DeLorean that is priced like a sorted DeLorean.
