Seems like we got it all straightened out in the planning thread, so we should make the date official now. (Hopefully this ridiculous Seattle weather will be gone by then)

We'll be descending toward Buford Valley, Georgia at approximately 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 10, 2015!

http://i.imgur.com/ahkXUCt.jpg

Working on your car isn't a requirement for attendance of course, so anyone who wants to come and just hang out, we'd lPlease give me some idea if you're coming, just post in this thread and I'll create an attendance list.
What do ya'll want for lunch? Pizza? Subs? (other)?
I'll PM the address to anyone who doesn't have it next week.

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone. It's gonna be fun!

I cant even see that picture.

As for the angle drive, I bought a 1 1/4" wrench and it didnt fit. I used some calipers at work and it was about 32.01mm so I bought a 32mm wrench. If its too tight Ill just grind it to fit.

Is everyone having trouble seeing my images? Also in the first post of the thread?

I noticed Google Images, which I use for hotlinking stuff, is a little "different" lately. Some changes have been made.

This damn internet keeps-a-changin'! Pisses me off, as I went to a lot of trouble to make that image and get the quote wording above it correct. Alright everyone, pretend you're seeing the beginning of this thread for the first time!

(Boring technical details, but I need to vent):
I was happily using Imageshack for hotlinking my forum post images for about 10 years. Then suddenly a couple years ago they decided to not be free anymore, so lots of people dumped them. Since then I've been using Google Photos, and it's been working great. Now some time this summer, suddenly they too have purposefully screwed things up. The image path to anything you upload is no longer a direct path to a jpg file. It's now a super-long string of gobbeldy gook, not ending in ".jpg", to make it impossible to use for hotlinking. No amount of right-clicking, inspect element, view source, etc.. will let you see where the file is located exactly. I tried it with Google Drive -- nope, then I also tried Microsoft One Drive in my hotmail account, -- nope! Same BS, a long string not ending in ".jpg." So what the hell happened? Is hotlinking images suddenly a CrAzY RiDiCuLoUs thing!?!?! Too expensive for large companies like Google and Microsoft to do? What's even worse, is that the now obfuscated links still make the images in my posts show just fine on my own computer, FOOLING me into thinking everything is fine and everyone else can see them too!

I created an Imgur account now, and transferred my recent pics to that. Big thanks to Soundkillr for editing the image paths!
We'll see how long the Imgur ride lasts, before things change again.

Now, let's all give the geniuses at Google a big round of applause for RUINING the first impression and fun of my beginning post!

Well, as we alllll expected, the forecast is looking worse and worse for Saturday. Not cancelling at this point, as I know it constantly gets adjusted, but we should keep the possibility in mind. If it still looks like this by Friday, we might think about doing it on Oct 24th instead.

@^%*$%#! this world. Seriously. The most beautiful weather every weekday (go outside right now, it's paradise), but if you wanna do something special on a Saturday.....

Well, we're at Thursday and the forecast still looks bad. I'd say cancelling looks likely at this point, but we shouldn't call it until Friday.
If Oct 24th is bad for a bunch of us, what about Nov 14 or 21?

It's October 2015. No hoverboards, and NO WEATHER SERVICE EITHER!!!! The scientists are twiddling their thumbs.

Well guys, I think the writing's on the wall. This is officially gonna have to be cancelled tomorrow. Which REALLY sucks, and I could rant and rant about how every day this week including today has been so nice, and Sunday will be too, but.... alas, it won't change the situation. SOOOOO frustrating.

Sure, our cars won't melt if they get wet, but it looks like it's gonna be a pretty rainy day overall, rather than just a quick shower here and there. And that's no fun to drive in, or even hang around a garage in. (especially when we've been spoiled by this beautiful weather all week!! --- sorry, sorry, trying not to get worked up about it)

I'm all for having it another day, if there's interest. I know Oct 24th is a problem for some, but I'm personally open to Oct 24th, Oct 31 (don't know if Halloween is a conflict during the day), Nov 14, and Nov 21.

Sorry guys, I'm as bummed as you are!

(could one of the mods please edit the thread title to include the cancellation? thanks)

Sorry for my lack of communication lately. The last 2 weeks have been possibly the busiest 2 weeks of my entire life! :frantic: :smashfreak:
But things are settling down a bit now, and I'm checking in here more regularly again.

So yeah, about another get together... nah, nothing happening this Saturday the 31st, other than Halloween.
But I do have another date, let's do November 14th. That's 2 weeks and 2 days from now.

Hopefully:
a) it won't rain

Alright, I was planning on having them done by a shop near my dad's house 11/7. Hopefully I can save myself on a couple hours worth of labor. I dont feel comfortable doing work on safety related parts just yet.

Freaky Beetle

Looks like I should be in as well. I just recently rebuilt my entire brake system, so I can help with any of that.

Does anyone have any experience setting the air/fuel ration? I just installed the DMCH combo pump and a different fuel distributor, so now I am running really rich. I can manually dial it back, but I want it to be correct. I don't have a dwell meter, so I would appreciate if anyone can bring one with them.

Does anyone have the clubs torsion bar jig, and associated tools to do the drivers side? I am very seriously considering turning my drivers torsion bar DOWN. It probably just needs one click. It has way to much spring up. I have always slowed it with my hand, but yesterday my daughter opened the door (without permission) and it went springing up.
Anyone remember the process for this? I just remove the rear louvres and rear covering plate correct? If I have to do more labor than that, I may just leave it...

Dangermouse
11-02-2015, 11:33 AM
No idea where that jig is. I last saw it at Seans.

That's all the parts you need to take off.

You obviously need a suitably sized hex bit and an extension bar. And a volunteer to prop the door open.

I have no tools for this. If anyone has them, and 6 beers for me (so ill actually do the job without being scared to death) please bring them. I honestly think one click will do it. If there is adjustment in the hold plate, I could try that first....

If anyone has some old tailboard circuits that I could borrow until I upgrade mine id really appreciate it. One brake light doesn't work and the reverse don't.

I'm a no go, was placed back on my old schedule and cannot make it down there. I'm trying for a different position and hopefully will have a mon-fri shift at the beginning of the new year.

Oh yeah, we are absolutely still on! :partyhat:

Side note: I had a surprise guest last night and wasn't able to go get the donuts. (Didn't want to buy them sooner otherwise they'd get too dry by this morning).
Can't go now as I need to get things ready here in the time that's left, so if anyone happens to be passing by a donut place and could pick some up, I would reeeeaaaaally appreciate it. No pressure though, please no one go far out of their way. I do have the coffee.

How did the car do on the way back?

The wheels didn't fall off and with the way I normally brake I didn't notice much difference. When I slammed them though it definitely is much better.

Good news. We did have a great turnout! Seven DeLoreans and a great group of people. A big thanks to Chris for the pizza. Not sure who supplied the drinks, but thanks as well. Thanks to Derek as always for letting us set up shop at his house. Thanks to Ron for helping me sort out my air fuel ratio and teaching me how to use the dwell meter.

It's a black cut down spray paint cap. Pretty smart actually. I liked the way it looks...

Lol I know what that one is but I meant the one that fell off the other side. I don't think it was a spray can top.

A quick picture of me riding the brakes behind Ron heading back up the mountain on the way back. I think he must have had his E brake on or something :hmm:

Ha! This is funny. Of all the parts to discuss, this one has been bugging me but I keep forgetting to ask about it. I noticed a few months ago that my passenger side one is missing, and even though it's somewhat easy to replicate, I checked DMCH's site first for the part. And I could never find it. Does anyone know what it's officially called?

Awesome turnout on Saturday by the way, big thanks to everyone who came, I really enjoyed the day!

Na, it's due to going around the curve with a true positive traction differential and not letting off the accelerator to compensate for the overwhelming power when it shifted to 3rd. Driver error.

Oh ok. Still feel bad for the Prius behind me that was being held up.

Awesome, thanks! In all my searching, guess I never checked the seat belt page. Sounds like it would all be interior stuff.
