This '77 Esprit was featured on bringatrailer.com and was snapped up in minutes for the buy it now price.

The tartan interior was widely mocked in the comments, but I like unbridled 70s tartan funkiness.

I've seen this one in person. Its been sitting for quite a while and needs work. The seller of that car also has a D for sale. He wants $19,500 but like the Lotus its been sitting for years and needs a lot of work

The outside of that car is nice, but the interior would take some getting used too. Can you imagine if the Delorean had that interior. YIKES!

Anything glaring you noticed?

Fie! Methinks thou doth protest too much. Everyone is way too used to bland/monotone interiors. If I saw that thing in a Christmastime driveway in 1977 I'd have been most excited about that whole package...

I wonder if he would consider a trade and cash for the D? Would save me time having to sell the Mustang..

Wow :hmm: the 70's were a strange time. That interior makes me think of...Christmas pajamas

In my opinion, you would be getting the raw end of that deal. When I drove the car, I didnt even drive ten feet before it died. The D is bone stock and needs a total fuel and electrical system overhaul. For anyone interested here is the link to the D

As featured on "bringatrailer." Once again, dig that red and green tartan interior.

Same here.

You guys better stop posting Esprits or I'm going to decide on an S3 instead of a DeLorean. ;) Love the S3.

You'd still be pretty popular at any Delorean meet!

If I could afford the parts to keep it running in order to bring it to a DeLorean meet! I hear they're more expensive than DeLoreans to maintain and such.

Parts are comparable. Maintenance is just a little bit more intense; with the three year C service being particularly important. Part of that is a cam belt change on a mid-engine, so that can be expensive if you have someone else do it. Not really that bad to do though.

I'm more of a do-it-yourself guy anyway. I've always felt that half the fun (is that the right word? ;) ) of owning cars like these is doing work on it. Similar to how Jay Leno can (and does) employ people just to restore and do maintenance on his fleet, but he still does some work himself. How cool is that?

I really like that about him. And honestly, there really isn't anything 'scary' about the 4 cylinder Esprits. Relatively basic cars. Doing the cam belt isn't exactly fun, but its a once every three years job.
