After tracking down the original negative for this photo (thanks Chris), I was able to scan it at ultra high rest and have a 12' mural made out of it.

if anybody wants a high res scan of this, please let me know. I'd be happy to send you a copy since I own it now.

There is no way that I can be happy again with the knowledge of this garage's existance, and knowing it will never be mine.

Very cool. I'm in the middle of a house renovation and just trying to think where this could go.

Can I ask the process, what did you print it onto? Is it done in strips? Was it expensive to have printed? Cheers

thanks for the compliments!

Since a number of you have Pm'd me, here are some more details:

When I decided to create this wall paper mural, I knew I'd need a very very high res image due to the size. Chris P (who authored the amazing Delorean book at the just came out) offered to sell me the negative so I could use it for my mural. I could've paid $100 for a one time use or $350 and I own the negative and can do what I want with it. So, in the holiday spirit, I decided to offer copies of it for free to anybody in the community that wants it.

The original image is color and roughly 4:3 aspect ratio. I cropped it to the widescreen ratio I needed and converted it to black and white. I scanned it at crazy high res to the image size his huge. Magic Murals, who I had print it for me, cleaned up the image even more and it is flawless. I looked at a bunch of mural companies, and this one blows everyone away. They always have a 30% off sale on their site, and today it is 40%. You might need to move your mouse off the page like you are leaving the site, then the 40% coupon pops up.

My mural is 79" x 146", but they made an interesting error on their first printing. I approved the proof at that size (and the cost of about $400) and then a massive box showed up a few days later. They accidentally printed it at 146" x 300"! So I have another, unused $1000+ building size mural still in the box. When I told them of the error, they reprinted immediately and fed exed overnight. Great company and service. https://www.magicmurals.com/. I dealt with JEANNE BLANK • Service Consultant Direct: (919) 205-1961 • Office: (877) 448-7295

The mural came in 3 pieces, each roughly 49" wide by 79" high. It was self adhesive (removable) and super easy to install. we taped it up with blue tape and pulled the backing off as we went and smoothed it. 1 piece didn't line up perfectly (there is about 1/2" overlap) so we lift it off and replaced it. super easy.

I uploaded the very high res scan of the 4:3 in color, the converted black and white, and also my cropped widescreen image. Feel free to download and share. If any of you use it, the only thing I'd ask is that you share a picture of your project on the forum. (and buy me a beer or three at DCS if you go.) I will probably have some type of tech day here in the spring, so if any of you are local, stop by. dropbox link:

they are very large .tif files. that is the file that was used for the mural, so I just redownloaded and checked it. It opened ok on my pc. Did anybody else try to download? are all the files not working for you?

I only get the generic tile image. no photo image. When I tried to download any of the 3, I just get an error 400 code. I have an iMac running the latest OS X. using safari.

I tried Firefox and that worked but it was a lengthy 3 minute download for the original B&W image 1.3 GB and I have 60MB download speeds.

just googled error 400 and I found the info below. maybe try a different browser? see if that works. If not, I will upload to another service for you.

95% of the time this is because of a problem on the client system e.g. there is something unstable on your PC running the Web browser.

Is your PC secure ?. If your PC is not well-protected, then all kinds of problems may occur - including HTTP 400 errors. If you run Windows, stay uptodate with automatic security updates from Microsoft and possibly consider getting a registry cleaner. Always have good anti-virus and spyware protection. Invest in a hardware firewall if you can afford one. Be sensible surfing the Web - block pop-up windows and avoid bad sites. If your PC security is compromised, then Web traffic out from your PC to the Internet may be secretly corrupted by malware (spyware, viruses, etc.) running on your PC. This can be difficult for you to detect.
Have you installed web-based software ?. Some social networking and games sites ask you to download and run software on your PC so you can interact with other people on the Internet directly (without using your Web browser). This software, if badly written or even criminal, can corrupt all HTTP traffic from your PC. Getting rid of that defective software can be difficult. At worst you may have to reinstall your operating system again (possibly losing all your personal data on your PC if you do not have backup).
How stable is your Internet connection ?. If you have recently changed ISPs or your ISP is very slow or unreliable, then Web traffic from your PC out to any site on the Internet may be corrupt. Your ISP may have reconfigured some of their setup (e.g. introduced new proxy servers or cacheing) that is causing some instability. A possible sign of problems here is if you can not easily browse the Web site of your ISP. You can also try to check that the Web site you are actually visiting is the one you think you are visiting. For example, you may have a DNS problem. You can check this using a ‘ping’ test. A DNS problem may be caused by your ISP or may be on your own system e.g. in a ‘hosts’ file.

Josh, glad we found a good home for the 25' oversized mural. There just better not be any "mini" sized jokes about the one hanging on my wall.

I have gotten lost in your house more than once..... You installed the proposed tunnel system from Bourbon Street to the garage? I mentioned not wanting to get cold during the winter months going from the there to the hospitality suites.

Thanks Tony, just downloaded them successfully, though I don't know yet what I will do with them. My printer at work choked at the size.

Does Chris have any details about when this photo was taken (nothing in the book) or what it represents. Based on clues in the picture I am guessing early 82 perhaps. The one frame number semi-visible (6245 or 8245) isn't listed on txdmc yet, but the flat hoods and exhaust tips would point to an 82 car. Are they cars taken off the assembly line for fixing? (the flapper wheels may indicate that)

I think Chris just bought a massive collection of negatives and photos. I don't think there were many details, but I will certainly ask!

Barrie Wills and I talked about this photo when it appeared on Facebook. I believe the VIN on the frame is actually 10245 and the timeframe is December of 1981. Per Barrie, production was still going at the 80 cars per day rate, which is why some cars are on roll-around carts and others on Tellus carriers - they didn't have enough of the latter at that time.
