Whats up guys! Im glad to be apart of the forum, and this is the restoration of my 81 DMC Turbo! The car has been in the family since 81, but was vandalized when I was in highschool back in 2006. Lit the car cover on fire, fire dept then shattered my fixed door glass, and cracked the windshield [emoji852]️... She will be sent to DMC CA for all the glass to be installed and all weather strippings and all. Recently, I became more motivated after realizing I have something rare and beautiful in my garage. She has 9,xxx original miles on the clock, BAE turbo set up, fuel injected with steel braided fuel lines, little updated mods like the relays, the wiring, fuel pump, exhaust etc.

Upcoming mods:
4 rebuilt brake calipers
Steel braided brake lines
Eagle Premier Starter

Here are some photos from today: working on removing the brown stains

Cool, its amazing how these things are put away only to be rediscovered years or decades later.
You're very luck to get such a gift in your twenties.
When did it last run?

I used to start it alot just to keep the fluids flowing. Still has the original tires good year eagle aqua treads? Lol. Once i charge up the battery and swap the starter shell fire up again. She ran early in the year 2015.

DeLoreans originally came with Goodyear NCT's- Aquatreads were manufactured from the mid 1990s, IIRC.

Regardless, it will be great to have a BAE Turbo DeLorean back on the road. I look forward to seeing the progress on this one.

Very cool Delorean with its turbo engine, which looks like in a pretty good shape.
May I ask what is the VIN number, because you said VIN 4546 and it written VIN 4645 in your signature?

Do you know what they are or what caused them? ( ie rust, chemical stains from the fire retardant, etc.)

They are brown spots like rust. You can remove them by using the scotch brite. But when u look hard enough u can still some of the residue when you remove them fully. I did the entire car except the hood still need a full hour for that. Im thinking if i use like windex to scrub on the stainless or bar keepers friend? http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/07/76e48ea3a00f7f66cdde150eaf075575.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/07/f76207fb3c6b1b6120428c15b4972be7.jpg

I see. I was able to remove a rust stain completely using the gray blending pad so I don't have experience with stubborn residue. I have also had great luck wet sanding with oxalic acid on stainless to remove rust, but I haven't tried it on the surface of the grained panels, so I can't recommend it as tried and true technique yet.

I found 2 threads that may help. They are for removing scratches, but contain related advice. Bar Keepers Friend cleaner was mentioned.

http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?480-Moderate-horizontal-scratch-in-hood
http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?36-Regraining-Stainless

Other than that, perhaps someone else can provide their thoughts.

Good luck with the task.

Hey guys, finally purchased the front and rear calipers with pads and crossed drilled slotted rotors from john @specialtauto.. Also bought the coolant expansion tank kit! More stuff to come anyways i came across this limited artwork done by kelly telfer, i was told this is an original #9/250 signed and dated 1983. The detail put into it is just gorgeous!

So new update, as it has been storming in the bay area for a few days. Went to autozone and picked up the premier eagle starter. I am pleased! After installation it fired up in one click with a jump! Hearing the exhaust Brings back memories of my childhood days where my father would be zooming playing call me by blondie. Still waiting for all my calipers and goodies from SPECIALTAUTO. To do another update http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/22/f46acdb5c511c95cb9bd1b9588624882.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/22/24c8ffd2a49f8b6b547d57c7d1837327.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/22/114fcfd5fd22e1aff29c5e7d8f78aaab.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/22/fbf3744e5010d0c5c16d406d440d266f.jpghttps://vimeo.com/149800786

Update: 12/31/15

Just got all my parts in from SpecialTAuto, cross drilled rotors, assembled calipers front and rear with assembled parking brakes, ss braided brake lines, ss coolant resevoir.

Was only able to install the SS coolant tank, and take some of the surface rust on the hood. Anyways it was a productive day before work lol http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/31/0484b1e49052915a58bcd46d78f44943.jpg

Update 1/3/16

Just did some brake work, fronts for now. Installed my SS braided brake lines, Cross drilled rotors, and calipers already loaded. Going to try and tackle the rear soft hose brake line. Removing the brake lines wasn't difficult i was pleased, used "freeze off" its really good as a liquid pentrator i used it all the time when i was tech for subaru and toyota great stuff! One whack and the brake lines were out! Hopefully the rears are good, looks like the location is a bit difficult with the trans being in the way. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/03/2e98507b725971a7ae2fdb2e77a762d1.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/03/bf65adb6e232dc63e9ec0b3838a79484.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/03/5dbab69ad3fe67a0c951fc4af545f810.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/03/6fda30829b0be9b67fbe7b19de1a2eb4.jpg

Update: 1/5/16

Whoo! So today, with ease I was able to do the Rear SS braided brake lines and install the rear rotors and loaded calipers with parking brake. Got dark already so wasnt able to bleed the brakes, but the wife will be assisting me with all that next time Im free. They look good, so ill be cleaning the wheel wells, the suspension, and whatever else has surface rust and repainting it all. Stay tuned!

Edit: I installed that plate that goes over the lug nut screws, wasnt seen in pic lol
