All of the blue and silver in the engine bay matches R2, so he's got that going for him :)

Pretty neat. I had somewhat kind of the same idea with mine, but with laser cannons and X-Wing graphics, and R2 as well on the back area.

Pretty cool!

If this is hinting that Ernest is about to write some sort of Star Wars related novel, that would be awesome. I've read both his previous novels (Ready Player One and Armada) and really enjoyed them.

Yes. This one belongs to his brother. This one was the Ready Player One raffle car that he gave away and then bought back from the owner who was having health issues.

I would imagine that dome gets pretty hot both from the sunlight as well as engine heat.
