Im planning ahead on the interior bits of the car and was looking at dynamat for sound deadening, insulation...but Its a lol confusing.
Has anyone used this stuff? How much would be needed to do floors, door roofs, etc?

Thanks

Friend and I spilt up a 150 sq ft roll between our two Dmcs, and we got the important areas and atleast doubled up on the rear fire wall, or helped quite a bit.

Actual name brand Dynamat is excessively over priced, search google for cheaper and equal alternatives.

We did not do our roofs. I doubt it would stick to the super hot stainless above your heads on a sunny day but should be good on the fiberglass part. Be prepared to remove alot of interior and all the carpet if you want to do it completely.

I mounted a rectangular piece on the doors above the headliners. This removes the "tinny" sound, and I have no problems to date.

I used this on my first DMC: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DYNAMAT-XTREME-TRUNK-KIT-EXTREME-19405-Roller-20-FT-/230643371853?hash=item35b36a8f4d

It was enough to do the large flat floorboard areas and the parts in the rear cargo area where I think it's needed most.

Did you mount it to the door metal?

Thanks for the ebay link...definitely a lower cost than other prices I seen. Did you permanantly mount it on the firewall or put it on something else?

Note that's for 20sq ft...only enough for what you see in the pics.

Didn't put any on the door metal. I put it directly on the firewall after removing the OEM sound deadening foam.

Somewhere on the forum there's a detailed post about sound deadening and using a combination of materials (I used only the Dynamat extreme.)

I'll be doing the same to 4728 soon....

Yeah, I figured it wasnt enough to do the whole car.

That stuff is heavy so consider all that weight you are adding to the car and what it will do to it's performance. Added strategically and using strips you can do a lot to reduce the noise.

Did this make a noticeable difference in the amount of engine noise coming in? I love the way my exhaust sounds but it is terribly loud inside the cabin. If this reduces the amount even a little I'd install it.

I installed it very shortly after I bought the car so I didn't get a solid "stare & comparison," but I believe it did make a difference in both sound reduction and insulating from the road heat.

Thank you, I suppose I'll add it to my list of things to do!

Mine has none at all, not even the factory stuff...and from the 3 miles I drove it, any would be better...hehe.

Ive seen X-mat and Dynamat..is there any comparison of those? Google searches havent really found me any real world comparisons.

Anyone else have suggestions?

Check out this old thread:
http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?439

Over 50 posts on this topic over a 4 yr period.

Includes some notes about alternatives to D'mat.

Post #16 from Mark Vanyo seems to have been popular and looks thorough enough.

Moderators, recommend blending this thread with thread 439?
