View Full Version : DeLorean Lineart from a photo

I've posted this in a thread where someone sold their art. I don't think everyone frequents that board. And honestly, it doesn't belong in there.

I am offering a free picture just to see if I still got it. I want to get back in it, and what better car than a DeLorean? If the wheels don't kill me first the end result will be something like this, only more awesome. Because DeLorean...

http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs17/i/2007/165/6/8/Levin_2_by_justicetoall.jpg

The only rules to apply are:

A: You are a DeLorean owner.
B: The picture you provide is your DeLorean, and you grant permission for me to use it as a base for my lineart.

It is going to take me a while to get it done (like I said, wheels will be the end of me). But free is free! First owner that sends me a pm wins. Remember, the higher the resolution of the picture, the more detailed my Lineart will be!

TYB323 got it, I'll post the final result here with the original picture too!

How about using this picture? It's my car and I took it, so there are no legal issues.

Dracula: For now it'll be a one-off deal. I am not quite done with the one I am doing for TYB323 and I am already in for 1,5 hours. The wheels and some miscellaneous stuff remain. He already has a preview, the full picture is going to be up in a few days. If I don't finish it today that is... The picture is slighly low in resolution too, I could do a quick one... mnnn... food for thought...

maragni1985: As I wrote above, it is a one time deal for now. It takes me a long time to make these type of pictures. If I end up doing more for some reason I'd only want to use pictures of vehicles that are owned by members. Legality is always an issue when art is concerned.

Ah, I misunderstood. Still, good luck with the project.

Thanks, I hope I'll have some time tonight to finish her up and post the picture here. It is a rear view photograph, so the tail lights are in there!

Looks more like a charcoal sketch I guess, but artistic nonetheless.

AH... I could have used a filter! That would have been so much easier! Still not home, so I don't know if I'll get around to it tonight. We can but hope!

EDIT: The upload function takes away some of the crispness unfortunately, but at least you can see how it came out.

Uploaded the picture on DA in high res, and linked it here! Make sure to right click, the forum automatically (thank god) downsizes pictures!

Nice! So what program did you use?

TheDutchTexan

Photoshop CS2, it is a vexel rather than a vector. So you can't blow it up indefinitely without seeing issues. But it should be fine for a pretty good A4 or Legal size printout!

Oh snap... Totally line-I-fied yours too Dracula! I was guessing on the VIN at first since you have 2, but then did some digging and luck has it your interiors are black and gray... And since the picture provided had a gray dash I put 1601 in the top corner. Don't forget to right click and view image, the lines are blurry on the forum. I got a 1600x900 version if you want it Dracula!

It is actually fun to be back at it again. I should start "selling" this stuff to fund my DeLorean down the line. Right... fat chance right?

I'll do the next one for 15 bucks... :P

Wow, that is PHENOMENAL! I'm extremely impressed and, by the way, that is my gray-interior car. Excellent work, considering both of my cars were built with black interiors.

I'd love to see the larger version of it and my email is lordvadus(at)gmail.com if you would be even kinder to send it to me. I'm now going to try to lazer-etch that image onto everything I can.

can we get some side profile shots?

TheDutchTexan

Dracula -> The vin registry seems updated with the changes you made then. That is how I found out 1601 had a gray interior. And you have mail!

VWDMC16 -> If someone where to provide me with a high res side profile picture of their DeLorean and paypal me 15 bucks @ [email protected] I would get right on that

Here are some really quick and dirty variations out of photoshop. For all of the below you first desaturate the pic, taking it to B&W....

The its just playing with these filters:

Poster Edges
4725

Trace Contours
4727

Find Edges
4726

Photocopy
4724

I don't own this pic, but if your not using it for commercial purposes...

I think a lineart drawing of a closeup of a wheel would be pretty cool

TheDutchTexan
08-31-2011, 12:37 PM
TTait -> I have actually fooled around in photoshop like that, but you just can't get the lines the way they should doing it like that. It takes time, and a keen eye.

Dangermouse -> It would be an interesting piece for sure, but I do feel there should be a slight angle to the wheel, so the notches would show up. It is one of the main features of the DeLorean wheel!

Wow, those two contrasting views make for an impressive signature image.

TheDutchTexan

It actually does, sadly the angle of yours is slightly off vs the first picture I did, but it is close!

And my lineart services are now for sale, check the sig for the link to the for sale thread!

Agreed, not the same at all. For some it might be a starting point, for others its just an illustration of what you can do in 30 seconds. Didn't mean to dilute the value of your artwork, and I don't think I did - your work is very nice.

I am sure you didn't, they are clearly 2 very different animals. My door is open to any who wish some work done. I am not limited to DeLoreans mind you, I can do other vehicles as well!

Ah screw it... D owners... first posted picture will be line-I-fied! Perfect time to post that picture of the sideview, doors up... or *gulp* wheel.

By providing me a picture you acknowledge that said picture is owned by you. You also grant me permission to use this picture as a base for my artwork, and for listing on the web.

Also, post the 4(or 5) digit VIN number, so I can put it in the upper left corner of the picture! DeLoreans all look the same mostly, but vin numbers are unique.

Bump in case someone missed it. After that the thread will be granted a honorable death!
