View Full Version : What does your own car's evolution look like?

I got to putting together some pictures for a "restoration album" to display at car shows. I have many from the same angle of the engine bay over the years. When looking at them in chronological order, it's fun to see how the car has changed since I've had it. For me that's been about 9 years. My God has it been that long?

I made a collection of engine bay photos and would be interested in seeing what others might be able to show of their own cars. Not just the engine bay though of course, other aspects too showing the before and after that paint a similar scene. Lots of little changes along the way as well as some big ones. Kind of fun to look back at. Enjoy! :)

The first two were from the original ad I saw online.

The next one was taken in October 2007 when I got the car, and the others taken since, right up until the last photo which was taken yesterday.

Man I'd love to put something like this together. I need to look around to see if I can find any of my really old photos from the early 2000s. Mine would go from a weathered dark gray rimmed, stock automatic, to a chrome rimmed, engine swapped manual, with a lot of other steps in between.

I did a few comparisons of before and after my chassis restoration. I've probably posted these before, but here they are again.

Excellent work! It's really great to see what other people have done to their cars and be inspired for that next project.

Thanks! I wonder how I ever had the time to do all the work I did. These days I'm lucky if I change the oil on time.

Thanks Mark! I enjoy the challenge of gradually restoring this stainless icon. :)

With reference to all who are posting before and after pictures in this thread, my hat is off to you. You are very talented. Yes I do the maintenance stuff, but I wish I had the time, patience and talent to do all the aesthetic cleanup work that you all are doing.

Thanks Mark and Thomas!

Mark, Dave S. did all the work at DMCMW and probably wouldn't want me telling this, but he threw in the plated parts for free since these needed to removed and reinstalled anyways.

Thomas, I mostly paid for the work to be done. It only takes $$$ and, remember, you can't take it with you...

A few years back I had all the parts on my chassis plated through DMCMW and Dave gave me really great pricing on everything. I could not believe what a deal he gave me and I felt like I should have bought him a beer or something afterwards. It's awesome to hear that he added the plating on your car at no charge since he was already doing the rebuild work. I've had my car at DMCMW for a few other things and they are always great when it comes to charging labor and being more than fair on all the little extra parts that go into a service.

Wow, I didn't realize how much epoxy was damaged from your brake fluid leak. It looks amazing after all your work!

Ok, wow, you guys get top marks for that work. Really incredible to see all of that. Dana's work had definitely come to mind recently, so too with Rich's resto. I know Michael has shared pics of his car's engine bay and whatnot and it is meticulously clean too.

I have been to DMC FL and MW, previous locations and current, and all of them left me feeling like the floors were clean enough to eat off of. You guys with your impeccably clean frames and suspension systems make me think you could eat off of those too. Although I'm not sure how well you could cut into a steak if it was lying on an LCA or spring, lol!! Great job!!
