Small but important historical clarification: there were no German ashes after World War I. World War I was basically fought in France and Russia. Except for a few tactical air raids, Germany itself was never touched. That is what led to the rise of Hitler -- Germany was treated by the rest of the world as a crushed nation when in fact it was the economic powerhouse of Europe, Great Depression notwithstanding. German resentment built, and Hitler played upon it.

I guess I should have stated ashes of the Versaille treaty. Germany was all but nudered after WWI as you most likely know.

Neutered but powerful -- bad combo. Kind of like slapping a 10 MPH speed limit on a Lamborghini.

One could argue that Hitler single handedly pulled Germany from the ashes of WWI as well.
...and Godwin's Law proves itself yet again.
