Pics are all sorts of out of order....my apologies.

Let me introduce the car. She's an October build, gray auto. 30k miles out of Texas originally. I got it in Kansas City. The car is in great shape. Needs it all but the canvas couldn't be better.

The build has commenced. First repairs completed. New struts as well as roof box repair and passenger torsion bar replacement. We will be pulling the drive train to do a swap and a manual conversion.

I'll be working with my good friend Jimmy (powerline84) who you have probably watched on here with 2706. It was my involvement with that car that has brought me here.

When good roofs go bad lol.....I think this repair is the right way to do it and it should probably be done to most deloreans at this point. Or deal with a snapped torsion bar lol

Very similar to mine Rich (pictured)...Chrises nuts are bigger then mine though....he may have to get smaller ones bahahaha51544

I still have to trim my bolts and put a headliner in. Cars gotta run first .

Doing this repair a second time was pretty damn easy. It can be done in an hour if your only intent is to bolt the box down. A couple of days if you want to seal and paint interior/ exterior of box . Another day if you swap a door. And another day or so for lower ball strut repair...if your so inclined lol. Another day to do t panel door seals and torsion bar swap and adjustments (Ask me how I know lol )

Chris's car has been easy so far . It's exterior shape is amazing. Front fascia is perfect. Doors are awesome. Fender gaps are awesome. It will be a nice car. It's interesting to see his later build car vs my somewhat early car...they definatly got better and doors and gaps and a lot of little things. All the stuff I have heard about October build cars ...i am starting to believe it after seeing Chris's car.

Thanks Jimmy,

A few weeks after I installed my headliners, I found out that I need to do this. :banghead:

Search for Rob Grady's method which uses rivets - no dropping of headliners needed.

He mentioned that when I last saw him, but I'm still worried about hitting the wiring.

Does the interior panel clear the bolts?

We did this repair years ago on our cars but we used screws going into the fiberglass. The fiberglass is solid in this area and takes to sheet metal screws very easily. Just curious; glad you fixed the problem.

Sure does. We have read about screws and rivets and other options but in our opinion, there is just too much stress on that panel to count on those. I am sure they're good repairs but the carriage bolts gave us peace of mind. My panel was almost two inches displaced.

I did a full write up on this when Gary Dunster and I did the roof box fix on my car last year. I can post it up in the how-to section if there is interest.

The interior panel clears the bolts after you cut the excess. It's tight but headliner will clear u just have to use small enough lock nuts.

Be sure the T Panel doesn't get pushed up by the bolt hardware. it did on mine and made bubbles on the t-panel where the bolts are.

What size bolts did you use? I used M10 bolts in conjunction with large penny washers and didn't encounter any issues with the fitment of the T-Panel post fix.
