I wanted to give a plug to the Mattaligner product that Rob Grady sells. I have one in my car and I really think it makes a big difference.

Recently I witnessed Rob Grady install one of these Mattaligners in Dave Tavres' (of DeLorean Talk fame) car during the DeLorean Weekend event. He put together a nice video of Rob performing the installation. Here is the video link:

Can the "pad" portion be cut off to maintain the stock look?

Rob was telling me he had a customer in CA who didn't want the pad portion and he said he was going to accommodate him. You might want to call Rob and ask him to see what he can do.

I have this installed in my car . I have the black one installed. It shipps with the grey pad on it but comes with a black pad ad well. You simply peel the grey pad off and push the black pad on. There is no adhesive involved . So you can simply just remove the pad.

^ Agreed, but perhaps if you just do this, you'll find the bare metal bar to be uncomfortable on your forearm.

In my opinion as a person trying to keep my car as stock as possible, I find the padded bar to be inconspicuous. Plus, it has become my favorite feature as it prevents accidentally activating the switches which I was consistently doing with my arm before it was installed.

We have a few Mattaligners made up without the armrest portion and will be making more. The cost is about $20- less for the flat plate.
