That is called stealing, and it makes you a thief. It is illegal.

Shhhhhh
Let them do it. $30k later the owner comes back to claim it. The car is back on the road and some folks learn a lesson. ;)

I just bought the car from Merry Motors. I want to bring this beautiful car back to life. Would anyone like to help me?
Congratulation on your purchase, the car deserve a second chance to live!

Congratulations! Hopefully you can find someone local to give you a hand. Virtually speaking though, this forum has many knowledgeable and helpful people to help you with your questions. These people were a great help when I was restoring my car.
One critical piece of advice up front: You have an "early" VIN (like mine), and there are some differences. I see it is a manual, so before you drive it, I advise you to check the gearbox for a loose shaft nut. More information about this HERE (http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?14544-5-Speed-gearbox-flaw-repair).
Best of luck with the resurrection!

Cool!! It's nice to think of 1014 not rotting away outside anymore! Hopefully Steve came down from his asking price from when I visited earlier this year. Good luck and keep us posted...

Congrats on your purchase! This car is a great canidate for restoration to driver status! In 2014 I restored 5052 to reliable driver status after sitting for 23 years. With the benefit of a carb conversion, 5052 was back on the road in about a month for less than $2500 in parts. It can be done :-)
If i was closer I would gladly give you a hand bringing this one back to life.
Congrats again!
