Anyone read any magazines regularly?

I do, on a nearly daily basis, and I subscribe to Time, and various car magazines (C&D, Automobile - The wife has a few others, but you all may not be interested in those.), I generally read them while slopping up breakfast, and look forward to the mailman to bring the latest.

I only subscribe to something that I'd buy regularly in store, as the savings in a subscription then really add up. I thought the Internet would kill magazines, but I find that I still prefer the rag format. I was also pleasantly surprised that the kids even started reading them and would sometimes incorporate an article they found/read, into their schoolwork.

BTW:
Here is a good place for cheap subscriptions:Discount Mags (http://www.discountmags.com/). Some are surprisingly cheap. Oh, and here is currently a nice 10%-20% Coupon Code: TECHBARGAINS (Exp 2011/11/16).

(I am not affiliated with them, just passing on a good deal.)

I used to have a few off road 4x4 magazines, but the only one I have left is JP Magazine.

I worked as a letter carrier until earlier this year and was surprised at the amount of nudity magazines people still pay for.

I subscribe to three magazines

Automobile,
IEEE Spectrum

And what’s the third one there. Let’s see?

The third magazine I read – Automobile, Spectrum. And let's see. I can't.

The third one, I can't, Oops.

That's going to go over wayyyyyyyyyy too many heads.

BTW, what's a magazine? Oh yea, it's the tree killing, toxic ink consuming waste of time that is one of the last bastions for the US postal service. Digital baby. No staples in the wrong places to worry about and I don't have to worry about filing them.

Handy Magazine (http://www.handymanclub.com/handy-magazine/current-issue.aspx)
Texas Monthly (http://www.texasmonthly.com/)
2600: The Hacker Quarterly (http://www.2600.com/)

I abandoned ALL automotive magazines once I discovered Jalopnik (http://jalopnik.com/) for the same reason I gave up on most magazines & newspapers, as well as news shows on TV: I don't consider myself an impatient man, but with the Information Age, raw data is what I want. Most articles just come across to me as fluff pieces because they are either a plug masquerading as a fake news article, or the author is going overboard on personal opinions to increase article as well as personal ego size. In the same way that a book is better than a movie based off of it due to the filtration of the material through the director's perception, I prefer to interpret the raw data myself.

I do prefer print media since it doesn't require electricity, it's more ergonomic, and I can take it into the bathroom to read. Plus it has the ability to be permanent unlike electronic media as both Amazon and The Detroit Free Press demonstrated with their censorship. With electronic media rewriting history is just a few clicks away.

Once upon a time I subscribed to Sports Illustrated. Not any more though. Much for the same reason I don't read too many newspapers, there is an abundance of opinions in news and magazines and I frequently don't care for them.

Even car reviews or just consumer reviews in general. I couldn't count how many products or services I had my own justified opinion on that some article author thought the complete opposite of. And for that, the best place to glean headlines and pick and choose what you read is the Internet.

I'll buy Golf Digest every so often and the "new car review" mags once a year. Used to love reading Mad magazine back in the day. What me worry??

Interesting, I see that as a reason to drink more alcohol and have more sex.

The price at the news stand has killed magazine reading. I use to pick up some at the grocery store but most everything is above $5.

About the only time I read them now is sitting at the dentist or doctors office.

Has anyone posted about yet or read already the newest copy of Maxim magazine? I understand there's an article that's something about epic fails when it comes to building movie cars. The DeLorean of course made the Top 10 list with a guy making a wannabe Time Machine out of a Supra or something.
