View Full Version : The very first page of this site freezes my computer.

Nope. Does this problem occur on different browsers for you or just one?

tried it on 6 different computers at work and home. No freezing.

This also happens to me, on my work computer. Home laptop has no problem.

It's a crappy Gov computer though. That may explain it :D

Yep, Gov computer. Something about it that our firewall doesn't like.

I have exactly the same problem at work. Day 1 was fine and after that nada. Switched to firefox

Mine was doing it last night. So I used my mobile instead. Will try again with the home PC, it's all okay through the work PC atm.

Posting a comment from my mobile (Palm Pre+ @VZW) often makes mem usage skyrocket and the browser reboots... Close enough?

Although it may just be animated smileys doing it. I will take a look and see how a netbook will handle the same page.

Something might indeed be up with the smilies. Maybe it's just them some firewalls don't like. I just tried on in another thread and it stopped moving after I posted it.

Back at home on my own computer and can see the site as it is meant to be. I wish whatever script it is that causes computer freezing on the first page on firewalled computers could be isolated.

I have this issue with my pc. But I recently had to do a complete reboot and its back to internet explorer 6. It works fine with both FireFox and safari on my MAC.

Now my net book is only showing the general forum line on the first page. I have to use "new posts" or do a search to get to the other parts of the forum. I'm using IE-8.

While trying to get a screen shot I turned off "compatibility view" and now it is working good.

It was hanging up my system when I tried to "print" or capture a screen shot. I could view you screen source code OK.

Just following up. I recently updated my pc to IE 8 and now it works fine.:)

I just upgraded from IE7 to IE8 and the problem went away.

(except for the problem where I earlier thought I was on IE8, but actually wasn't :dead:)
