Does anyone have any data or experience regarding the horsepower increase numbers from removing the catalytic converter on an otherwise stock exhaust/manifold system? Is the main difference between the US spec and Euro spec car the existence of the catalytic converter?

In the dyno thread someone posted a run with a setup pretty close to stock with a gutted cat:
