Alternator light

When i switch on the igniton the alternator light comes on as all the cars but its intermitent, shouldnt it be continuos until i fire up the engine?

Pretty sure it should be constant during the "bulb check". The first thing that comes to mind is dirty bulb contacts. Of course, I would check the easy stuff first to keep from climbing behind the cluster to get at it..... such as check battery terminals, or the insturment panel plug. Then after I did that I would accept the fact that I got to pull the cluster.

On some of the current alternators there is an undocumented feature :tongue: where the light flashes with key on/engine off. I don't know why and it's not consistent.

It's not a problem as long as the light is off with the engine running, and comes on in some way with the key on and engine off.
