View Full Version : February/March Get Together Proposal

I am going to throw out the idea of a NW Georgia get together at my place in Calhoun, GA. I am needing a brake rebuild, so I need to either pull the brakes off and inspect what is needed, or prep them for reassembly.

I would have one garage bay available for others to use. Plenty of parking in either my yard (if you don't mind parking in the grass/dirt), my driveway will fit about 4 DMCs, and plenty of parking on the street (no thru traffic).

Let me know if it sounds interesting to you.

Calhoun is about 1 hour north of Atlanta and 1 hour south of Chattanooga.

I'm game BUT:
I got Area this weekend
Sectionals next weekend
State the weekend after that
We host Little/Big kids qualifier the weekend after that
Big kids state the weekend ofter that
Finally little kids state the next weekend.

All that said, my first free weekend is not until St. Patrick's day then I'm open for a couple of weekends. In all seriousness the weekend of March 24th is probably my best day but go with the numbers. If folks like a weekend sooner go for it.

My car should be operational by then, so count me in! I will be gone the whole month of April, though.

I'd consider the drive down. Last time I was down there was for the T. Cathy meet.

Sounds like we have some interest. Sean's March 24th date works perfect for me as well. How does that sound?

I like it.

I'd like to put this on my calendar. Can I get an address and time?

Also, Sean - you'd said you had another idea of what the problem with my AC might be. I'm hoping the lot of us can try and group-think a fix that weekend since its going to start getting warm around that time.

Again, it's been a while so I don't recall everything we discussed but I bet if we all got together we can knock it out.

If you keep your sent messages on here, it's in there. You sent me your thoughts in a PM on here. I deleted it by accident. :(

We can start at the typical 10:00, but I will of course be here all morning. I will send out the address to everyone when the time gets closer. For estimating purposes, I am about three miles east of I-75 in Gordon County (Calhoun, GA). Not to far from the Outlet Mall.

YIKES! Just checked routing info, 6 hours. Looks like I have to go all the way to Atlanta, then swing back up around the mountains. Not looking good for me.

Yeah. TN, GA, and AL are all easy to get to from my house. NC and SC are a pain in the neck. :(

Might be able to make it. March should be fine. February would not work for me either.

Yep, got that done back in November, I must have squeezed the inner part wrong and the seal was bent. This time I put it in correctly. Ready to drive. Still want to powder coat the rims, new door seals, and new window regulators before dcs. Also touch up frame rust and clean up real good under there

What are you guys thinking for food? We can do the normal pizza, sandwiches, or we can have a cookout.

Northwest Georgia also offers several fun mountain drives. Most of these roads are within a half hour from my house. If you are interested, I can provide more details.

How far are you from Chattanooga?I`m in WNC and it looks like over 4 hours for me unless you are closer to Chat. than the map makes it look like.6864.

Steve, I maped out a couple different routes. One route took me to Asheville and then down thru the mountains. From my house it was 5-6 hours, so roughly 4 from your neck of the woods would be about right. I am still kicking around the idea, but I haven't committed yet. It would be nice to caravan with somebody. I could meet you somewhere in/around Asheville and we could make our way down if you are interested.

I am about one hour south of Chattanooga. It is an easy ride down I-75. I drive it all the time.

I will have an air compressor available. I have not ordered the rebuild kits yet. Not sure which lines I will be going with.

I have a new, unused set of brake caliper rebuild kits.

I bought them for 2930 and decided not to use them (I had the calipers rebuilt instead).

Let me know if you'd be interested in them.

March 24th!

I will send out my address in PM to everyone considering coming. It is on Google Maps, but it probably isn’t on most GPS units yet.

Here is the attendee list I have derived from the thread so far. Let me know if your status needs to be updated.
