rear spax install question

I am working on installing the DMC Spax adjustable rear shocks.
When I install the rear spring platform over the spax shocks there seems to be a little play...am I supposed to be re-installing the old split support collars?

That's just how they are. You can't re-use the split collars and don't need to.

incidentally, what is with the yellow paint mark on my rear left spring....was this something done at the dealership to signify some repair as they did with the front end recall?
