Say you were in the market for a new car. With all the new cars out there, WWYD (What would you drive)?

Rules:
- $150k limit
- must be a new car
- why you like it
- you CAN'T take the money and buy a bunch of old cars, Chad :)

Crud. Then I guess I'd have to go with the new Challenger; in SRT-8 form. I tried to order one, but they looked at me like I was nuts when I called them up and said I wanted it with manual windows, locks, and lights. So, can I use the rest of the money to remove these features and others I don't care for from the car?

For a daily driver, though, I'm at an impasse. I don't know of anything out there that I like and I'm going to have to buy a new car before winter.

A red E-Class Cabriolet:

Definitely not the most engaging car to drive, but it's big & comfy and a convertible! I miss having a drop top. Most car critics have panned the design of the E-class cabrios, but I think the cars are extremely handsome.

I took delivery of a new 2010 GMC Terrain SLT 2 last June and have driven it about 15,000 miles. I am very pleased with it and would definitely buy another. My only complaint was the wait, I ordered it March 17 and it arrived at the dealership June 17.

Ariel Atom. Because it's the sickest car ever made. http://www.arielatom.com/
The Atom 3 has a $50,000 base price. I'd spend the remaining $100,000 from this fantasy on all the available options.
Stock it uses a 2 liter Honda motor, supercharger up to 300hp optional, along with carbon fiber and crazy track brakes.
Coming soon will be a limited production (25) V8 Atom. With over 500hp, that will have over 900hp/ton. I don't know how much that one will cost, but I want it anyway.

I would say either one of the new Mustang Boss 302's or a audi r8
I've owned several mustangs in my life with the most current being a 08 Shelby. I just love Mustangs.
As far as the R8 just look at it. Plus they are fun to drive.

Here in Australia, Ford's Performance Division FPV have the the Supercharged GT Falcon

costs around $75,000 AUD so getting closer to $80,000 USD.

they are rated at 335KW/450HP from the 5 litre V8 Coyote engine with an Australian Developed Harrop Supercharger.
Here's the commercial for them.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh4-FQVd4ws

Here's how they run stock on the Dyno and then with some basic computer tuning

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5-90rkQK2U

318 rear wheel KW=426 rear wheel horsepower staight off the dealer floor.

382 rear wheel KW=512 rear wheel horsepower with basic computer tuning.

not bad for a car you can get straight from an Aussie Ford Dealer.

Can you tell us aussies are muscle car mad? 8)

Funnily enough I was just in this exact scenario while looking for a new DD.

Except that I was buying used. And my budget was nowhere near $150k:D

Should Mike send me a check for $150k I would stump for a Masarati Quatroporte or a Porsche Panamera Turbo as they are both 4 seaters which I need right now and they are sexy

I recently had to buy a new car, as my previous daily driver met its untimely demise in a four car pile up on I-20. Now if i had Mike's proposed budget, I would have purchased a Lotus Evora. Just because i think they look badass. But since I had no such budget, I purchased a 2011 Mini Cooper Clubman. It gets great gas mileage, is a lot of fun to drive, and believe it or not seats the twins in the back very comfortably.

If I had $150k, I'd go with a CTS-V Coupe, and probably have enough change to get the Evora!

-I owned a Datsun Maxima from 1997-2000 and I loved it. It was my first car.

Since I drive a Chrysler, I wouldn't mind getting the Crossfire, although looking at some models on google, I don't really like the one with the really weird headlights. I would go for the 2005. Also, the Escape had my slight interest when I was writing my final project report in college over two years ago about how to make the world a cleaner place. It's because of our collection of Explorers, too. I do like our '97.

The Rally Fighter is nice, but I've always preferred shooting brakes. If Ford would just crank out an SHO Wagon I'd be set. Otherwise with the $150K limit I'd use that to buy a modern SHO, and would then send it in for custom coach building to remove the rear doors and install the wagon & hatch.

Drove one a few years ago. Awesome machine. You cruise down the road and it feels like a tight regular coupe, but when you plant the gas pedal into the carpet, wow! All I can say is, I want one now.

Ferrari 430 Spider
This was a disappointment. Sounds awesome, feel good too. Had huge expectations and it didn't meet them.
http://i43.tinypic.com/148dog9.jpg

M3
Another one that I had high hopes for. Still nice, but didn't excite me as much as I had expected. Maybe I didn't drive it hard enough to find out.
http://i41.tinypic.com/1zx9seo.jpg

Lamborghini Gallardo
Lastly, this I loved as well! That V10 sounded awesome and a great handler too. Mega thirsty when driven hard. A close call between the R8 and the Gallardo. R8 I could live with everyday. Gallardo might be a bit harder (like a Delorean). Would not hesitate to have one if money was no object.

It was a supercar drive day. It cost me $1600 for the whole day (not cheap) and got to drive the R8, Gallardo, Exige, 430 Spider, M3 and RS4. They had an Aston which some clown blew up the clutch a week before the drive. Was hanging to take that for a spin.

Started at 8am and finish around 6pm. Probably drove a total of 400+kms

I cringed paying that kind of money for nothing, but at the end of the day, I got to drive all of them (in anger at some point of the road trip) which was worth every penny. Would not be able to do this sort of thing again.

A lot cheaper than actually owning them, and you probably put more miles (KM) on them than many of the real owners do! Seems like most of these cars are bought and sit in someones personal museum forever.
