Hey guys, can anyone ID this broken wire? It looks like it may be a capicator of some kind? I think it goes to the cooling fan? what does it do? i do have the manual but there is no description that i could find explaining it? should I replace it? The car runs and drives fine, I have no idea how long ago the wire broke??

thanks in advance for the help!

Hey bud, yeah that is a capacitor that goes directly to one of your cooling fans. Both cooling fans have this wire, so what I would do is go to the fan that still has the wire attached and see exactly where it connects. Once you know, you can properly reconnect that wire to its cooling fan. A wiring diagram is at the end of this post!

You can drive the car like that, but if your car can't cool down properly with one fan, you could be in a world of hurt - say - in rush hour traffic.

If you need any other wiring schematics, you can get them here (http://dmctalk.org/showthread.php?40-All-Wiring-Schematics)

Diagram for the cooling system is as shown below:

The fan will still spin without that capacitor. It's purpose is to absorb the electrical spikes drawn by OEM fans.

Wow - totally good call, Bill. I forgot that capacitors - for the most part - act as filters for excess noise (least what I've been drilled with while at school). Point noted!

Thanks guys! Now to find a replacement!

Or upgrade to low amp fans, rendering the capacitors moot.

Ignore it. If you don't use your AM radio you'll never notice. You may not even notice if you DO use your AM radio since there is so much electrical noise in the rest of the car.
