Not a dumb question,and quite relevant in this instance. There's no difference. Same part number, and interchangeable (built to install on either side.)

Denis, did you have a plastic one break off in your hand? Do you know if the passenger one is still plastic? If so, a pair of metal handles from the vendor of your choice would be a seriously good idea.

The handle was plastic. Yes it is probably a good idea to go metal thanks for the input.
