Hi, please check out this link of an Ebay sale:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.m7&item=120918259588&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26po%3D LVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8711439263481965167&cmd=ViewItem

I am curious if it is a good deal, seems good good to me. Mileage is at 100,400 but it still runs good and looks good.

Please let me know what you think!

was wondering about this car as well. I think they had frame pics in an earlier listing of it and it looked good there as well. Anyone seen it in person?

The car at first glance doesn't look too bad, but remember the truth is in the details! The front bumper on the underside is sagging a bit. Check for accident damage and frame rust. The trouble with these cars is that they can look great from 20ft away, but as you come closer some issues may arise.

That's the kind of car you buy to drive and drive often. Since its already in 6 figures, mileage is a non issue, and resale value is not a concern. If you want a car to pop in and drive anytime anywhere, and maybe spend weekends fixing minor cosmetic issues(if they bother you), this looks like the ticket. If you want a garage queen to put up on a pedestal and and keep it flawless, then don't consider this one.

I think at 15-16k its commanding market value considering the condition. If I were in the market, I would spend a few more thousand and get a lower mileage car in much better cosmetic condition.

The mileage thing interests me. From my perspective, it seems like a lot of DeLoreans have 50k miles or less. Why is that? Did people not buy them to drive them back in 1981? My 2009 Chrysler already has 115k miles. I just don't see why any car from 1981 would have less than 100k miles.

Do you think that this DeLorean in the ebay add would resale in the Houston market in a few years? How does mileage impact the value of these cars?

Thanks,

Sean

There are higher mileage Deloreans out there. There is one on this message board that has 365k miles! Oliver and Terry Holler from SC have over 300k miles on their BTTF Delorean.

It's hard to judge how many actual miles are on these cars, because of the angle drive issues.

A lot of Deloreans sat for years during the late 80's to mid nineties era due to people thinking that parts weren't available (this wasn't really true).

Most people bought Deloreans as weekend cars/collector cars, but there are a scant few that are driven as everyday cars. Some people get tired of the attention these cars get and just put them away for awhile.
