Good morning everyone. I am just wondering if any of you know a specialist or a builder/welder who could tackle a complete header/exhaust/muffler project around Ottawa or Montreal? I have the parts (header & muffler) but need to install the piping around them. I have no tooling for that kind of work.

I know Federal Muffler (in Dorval Qc.) are the pros _ but I would like some alternatives places (of trust) to compare if possible.

Thank you

Hey Victor.

The Club likely has a person for you, but in Mississauga which is in Toronto's west end. If you want I might be able to hook you up with this person.

We'd also love to have you as a member of the Club... almost 70 Ontario Delorean Owners now.

Who do we have in Mississauga? I'm considering some exhaust mods, myself.

Lou K.'s shop could likely do this.. or he would know someone who can.

PM me and I will send more details.

That you very much for the invitation 17076. I will certainly like to be in the club! But for some reason it would be difficult for me_ as we have no internet connection at home. Yes we are probably the only one in North America who do not have an internet connection. (We use the internet at work sometime) We have a nice car but no internet. But it is a matter of time before we have it. You see, very few provider are willing to offer. We live in deep wood I supposed...

Also, my girlfriend is always booking me solid with all sort of thing to do around the house and going visiting relative and so on...and we have a new baby girl I am proud of. But I can barely work on my own car. Let's just say that I feel I don't have much time on my own to do the thing I would really like to do. So indeed, I wish that my D was really a time machine sometime...

I finally decided to have the muffler fabricated by Federal Muffler in Dorval. My D was there for an entire day. It is stainless headers and pipe. They used two long muffler welded together. It is somewhat raucus but it is very efficient. Around 1500$ without headers.

They came with the car so I am not sure, maybe Hervey _ but one side had to be modify to make room for the alternator.
Soory to reply so late. I haven't been on the forum lately. Mostly in car show around...

Marty, I just took my car to an exhaust shop today to get an idea of what it would cost to replicate yours (plus removal of the catalytic convertor). You don't by chance have any sound clips of your car, do you?

I am sorry I don't. But in my taste, it's too loud. Maybe, I will eventually change those two long mufflers and put one twin in /twin out regular muffler at one time. It's the acceleration that is loud. When it's at iddle or at cruising speed, it's quite ok.

It's just a matter of personnal taste. I like it very quiet from inside. But I do like the sound of muscle-car for sure...but maybe as an observer.

I also put sound deafening of a similar type as the very popular one _ the name escape me right now... must be all that aluminium...

Yeah, mine is very loud from the interior (a little too loud). However, it sounds great from the exterior.

Then, just yesterday, I had that set up changed, to a single muffler (a little smaller than the original one) And it's much better, albeit still throatty. Stephane, from Federal Muffler is a very patient and calm person. He is also quite perfectionnist at putting together an ideal muffler setup. I had my crankshaft pulley and seal changed at the same time _ since mine was wobbly somewhat.

Hey Victor, I know it's been a while since this thread was discussed, but I'm getting my crank seal replaced on my DeLorean very soon and noticed you had the same seal changed back when you did the exhaust redo. Do you remember how long, or how many hours they charged for replacing that seal? I just want to keep the shop that will be doing mine honest!

I stopped by a different shop about doing the job and they started talking about taking out the engine to do the work....Let's just stay I started walking out very quickly. I won't be touching that place with a 10ft pole!!
