McLaren of Philadelphia

Took a trip up to Philly for a triathlon and had to swing by the McLaren dealership on Route 1. It's one of 9 in the U.S. The rep was most generous with his time gave us the whole tour! So, on to the pics!

The guts of the new McLaren. That black tub is carbon fiber 117 pounds. Bolted on front and back is the frame and support structure. Power plant is a 597HP 3.8L V8. Car weight is about 3100 pounds.

The outer door doesn't have door handles. It has a proximity sensor under the skin of the car that you just pass your hand under. Forward to aft opens the door, left to right unlocks it. This car was amazing!

That's awesome about the proximity sensor... What happens if the battery dies? You can't get into your fancy car then can you? :neener:

LOL you HAD to do the BTTF pose! And yeah, the McLaren dealer reps near my place are also really friendly and willing to chat up a storm and let you sit in the cars. Pretty cool.
