Hi.

good to be back.

when installing the windshield, is it 24 or 25 inches from the centre console to the roof, an also where should i be measuring the distance from? a, b or c?

the question was asked on the old place, but I didn't get a clear answer :(

and how much of a gap should there be between the bottom of the windshield and the fibre glass? I've got new hooks http://www.delorean.com/store/p-9781-clip-windshield.aspx but when i hook the glass on, it's resting about 1/2" away from the fibreglass. I suppose i should bend the hooks downwards towards the cowling to get a more satisfactory result - anyone else had issues with this?

cheers
Dave.

I would tell you to just close the doors and use them to position the roof, but I got yelled at the last time I suggested that.

Jack the roof up to *almost* close the gap. Then close the doors and install the windshield.

Is this a tough procedure? I know that's a loaded question, but I'd be curious to know if this is something I can do myself.

Sounds like the headliner has to come out to jack up the roof?

I'd love a good how to on this including procedure and tools required.

This is a tough repair for me because it would require most likely staying over night down in Bellevue while Toby and Jon did the repair. I may be wrong but I was under the impression you couldn't just drive away while the adhesive was drying.

Dave,

I had the IR glass installed at DMCMW back in April 2012 and we did not jack the roof up by choice, so as not to induce any unnatural tresses into the glass with the doors closed. You do end up with a 5/8 - 3/4 gap in the center. The glass man just filled the gap with an extra tall bead of urethane sealant. If you replacing the steel roof truss, then you would need to have the roof jacked up.

Is the truss the bar across the top of the glass?

As far as I know it's a straight up swap.

No, That's the header finish trim. The truss is the Steel roof structure that gets bolted and glued to the fiberglass.

What are you referring to as a straight up swap?

Ok the roof box! That's what I thought initially.

I mean swap in that as far as I know there is no damage to address, just a new windshield is needed
