So I'm on vacation in Massachusetts this week visiting family and I was on the way to one of my family members hockey games and was telling my family how it's rare to see these cars around California where I live let alone in Massachusetts, and then all of the sudden, on the side of the road at a used car dealership was an 81 DeLorean. My family and I were all blown away. I decided to stop and talk to the owner of the dealership and he allowed me to look around the car as I told him that I knew a thing or two about the car. He said his asking price is $20,000 (after he makes some repairs). I told him that the only way he is going to get that much is if someone has no idea what there worth and buys it off of you. Here are some pics. The VIN number is 2686 and the car is located in Cohasset, Massachusetts. It only has 7,000 original miles, but has some major problems for so little miles.

I told him I thought that the max he could get is $15,000 if he was lucky. Here is my quick 20 minute assessment of the car:

Good
New Tires, correct size in the front and rear
Everything is original except for the light in the engine compartment and tires
Body panels are really niece except for one small dent in the Front Driver fender
Rear facia is excellent
Antenna in the Windshield (Good or bad not sure, but cool)

Bad
(From front to back)
Front Facia has eyebrows (see pics below)
Anti Sway Bar is completely rusted out, bushings are bad as well
Front portion of the frame has been spray painted Gray (Maybe rusted?)
Small dent in FD Fender
Passanger and Driver side door seal, headliner, locks and window motor needs replacement
Door alignment is off on both doors
Pulls strap missing from passenger side
Knee panel on passenger side has been repainted and shows (see pics below)
Steering wheel is extremely loose! I looked below the wheel and there is no bushing where it goes into the front of the car. May need a bushing?
Seats are ripped
Wood behind the passenger and driver seats. I don't think this was original at all, but may be wrong.
Trunk cable is broken
Engine has some wires not connected
No switch for the rear engine light (couldn't fine it)

Disclaimer: I have no interest in this car, I just saw it today and have listed everything I know about the car.

With 7k miles (if those are the correct miles) you can bet it will need engine work. Otherwise a great project car if the owner will come down on the price a bit. Good find!

pretty close to my VIN. Looks to be to be a 13K car, depending on the buyer.

Yup, wood is original and it's a good project car. $12-13K as stated but no more.
