What I've always wanted to know-

1.) How do you clean the gold DeLoreans?? Regular car soap? Jewelry cleaner?
2.) What do you tell your insurance company if someone keys, scratches it, or worse...

I shudder at the thought! Beautiful car, though. I always love seeing the gold D's.

Make sure your hands are clean!

There are build photos of this car on Facebook, showing the owner deciding the shade of gold and other samples before completing the build.

so its not actually gold? from what i understand it a mix of vinyl wrap and tinted brass plating?

only the dmc emblem, lug nuts, light fixtures and a few other small items are actually 24kt plated

thats what it seems. at today's spot prices i think he'd be bankrupt trying to use real gold  i think its definitely a nice tribute to the real gold DeLoreans!

aw man, I thought that was one of the original 2&1/2 gold ones. (4300, 4301, and 20105)

no, this is just a guy trying to create a replica of them, so the panels are not real gold as the original 3 deloreans are.

That being the case, I actually really like the car in gold as a color though. Looks better than a lot of other painted D's out there.

Kinda odd how he made the headliners tan, but didn't get tan carpets for the car. Those are readily available now through the vendors.

I agree, gold color is great looking on a D. I'm not one for painted DeLoreans, but the red ones are nice too.

it looks like he was trying to replicate the dark brown carpet color of 4300 and 20105. it might be a bit of tan overkill if he did everything the same color.

Anyone know the VIN of that car? Should we actually classify it as a 4th gold car? Or just a painted (gold) car?

?

the 4th gold car is VIN 01542, it was privately gold plated with 23k gold in the early '80s.

the car in this thread appears to have a gold-colored vinyl wrap of some sort... it does, however, supposedly have the 3rd factory saddle-brown interior, since 4301 has a black interior. im not sure if these claims have any credibility, but it seems logical to me that there would be a 3rd brown interior lying around somewhere...

The car looks good, but I'm not sure about those DeLorean decals...

I like the way the gold looks. The fascia and the rear look a bit bright though.

Hello from Bavaria! I´m the guy who build this car.
This golden Delorean is just a nice styled packaging for the original interieur. I own this interieur since a few years and it came out of the bankrupt's estate from DMCL in Dunmurry.
The VIN is 10853 and I use an accident car as base for this project. You will find a lot of detailed pictures here in my album "golden Delorean".
So we saved one demaged Delorean from the scrapyard and find a nice platform for the original interieur.

Skin: I was dissatisfied with stickers and foil, so we use a special transparent stainless steel adhesive base with a golden glaze and a varnish clear coat fnish.

I hope you like it!

Absolutely beautiful work!

The tan interior reminds me of how Ferrari's of the same era look. Very classy looking car.:thumbup2:

Love those BFG raised white letter tires. Are they still available? What size are they?

Mark!
I bought this tires 5 years ago from tirerack.com and they sold the correct sizes 195/60R14 and 235/60R15. At the moment tirerack just can sell BFG with white letters for the rear axle. I love them too and they fit perfect to the red runner! ...and my other red cars Nissan KingCab D21 and HUMMER H2 have BFG with white letters too... nice trio!

I was really hoping you were going to say you bought them last month and that the fronts were still available with RWL! :(

It seems like all the tire manufacturers are going to black wall only, at least for the fronts. Cooper Cobras used to be available too with white lettering on both front and rear sizes and now you can only get the whites on the rear.

The removed black rub strips on the sides also gives the car a really sleek look. It's one of my favorite painted D's for sure.

For anyone one with the white writing on there tire wall, I was wondering if it is difficult to keep clean. Is it something you have to keep washing or it will look like crap...or does it stay pretty clean on it's own.
