I was seduced by the dmcseller with this item, I bid 50.00 at the last minute, only to see it skyrocket to almost $1000.00!!!!

I get it, its a cool piece of Delorean history, but a grand cool?

That's a heck of a jump. Even with buyer with a history what are the odds it'll be back in a week or less?

Yes. Some of us following the sales for the past year or more have been astounded at the sums. Documents from A list celebs, icons of americana themselves, don't command as much as many of these items.

I would still certainly like to read those documents one day.. Maybe make a scanned copy for the forums?

I would guess that someone spending a grand on a report, isn't just going to turn around and give it away for free. Possible donation to the DeLorean Museum ?

That whole bid history looks fishy to me. Your bid was $52, then the next bid was 4x at $200? The next bidder could've bid $75, not $200. Then the next bid jumps to $300, the $500. Odd.

They probably bid on their own items.

Damn you ebay Boosters!! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boosting_%28video_game%29) Damn you all to hell.. lol In all seriousness, that is likely the perfidious game they played to achieve such a high profit and more 'original' copies are likely to show up soon.. My two cents..

I don't know about that. I do wonder about someones willingness to pay between $40 and $1,000 for every scrap of paper when there is an unknown quantity of the stuff out there. Like the singer Curtis Mayfield: after he was paralyzed, he handed out old cancelled checks in place of autographs because he had so many of them.

I know this seller. He is part of the law firm that was entrusted with being the Trustee for the DeLorean bankruptcy. He is totally legit and the items are legit.

They have file cabinets full of rare and some not so rare documents, etc. The key is to make sure you bid on something that is unique (sketches, hand written items). Some of the printed documents are copies of copies, etc. Those are more common and don't command as much.

I used to bid on a lot of things and spent quite a bit to document things on my web-site. There are a handful of hard core DeLorean collectors world wide who have a lot of $$$ to drop on these things. It was hard to compete against them all (and this was several years ago before Ebay was so popular). And the sniping of bids at the end is the ONLY way to really play the game and win. So it doesn't surprise me that it went from $50 to $1000 in the last few seconds.

I do hope these items make it out in the public one day.
