Upon a simple request of member Chris Burns to take a shot of my D in front of the acropolis, an idea was born.

Take a shot of YOUR DELOREAN having included a landmark in the image. As member Spittybug added, the images should have a common layout to be used further on, in a slideshow video on line.

As my D is not in yet, I can only use an image of another member to give you the angle and layout of the image.

Taken from the front left side with open doors and the landmark included.

the sample image below is not including a landmark but is depicting the exact car position.

Maybe a quick poll on from what angle to standardize from? Do we think the front or the rear of the car is more "iconic"? I think driver's side is appropriate to get the steering wheel, etc. I like the "looking up" at the car angle (which also makes it easier to get landmarks in the background.

I think the front view you propose is good, but a back shot is also good showing those iconic rear lights.

Speaking as a somewhat novice photobug, I would submit that you frame your car around the background, not background around car. Examples being that sometimes the background defines the shot, and a 3/4 shot may not work with a linear backdrop. What if you were shooting against the Cape, a Saturn V rocket on it's side might warrant a profile of the DeLorean. A lot of times, a partial shot of the car works better than the tired "staged" 3/4 shot that fills the internets.

Examples: This shot shows how just a section of the car can work...but I have not yet photoshopped the background out.

Here is one in which the "historic landmark" is lower than the car, so a common theme of looking up would not work

And here is one in which I had to work with very low and bright light, Normally(like getting a photo opp like this is normal), but I would go with the front of the aircraft, but the sun would be right in the lens making the shot too dark even with the lens stopped down, so I positioned my car in the best position for the background's sake, so the front Driver's side 3/4 shot would not look right.

I think it's a great idea, but a little artistic license should be expected for the shot layout. As long as the viewer can see a DeLorean in front of the landmark, let the photographer decide the best composition.

Shouldn't be too hard for us to do the Golden Gate, or the Napa Valley. Some of the guys closer to Sacramento could get some killer night time shots with the Tower Bridge in the background.

Nope, occupied. I believe Jan got entry during Eurofest 2011 (or maybe 2006). One of the N. Ireland guys keeps on good terms with the current owners (Montupet) and negotiates access every 5 years for the fest.

That is correct.
The testtrack was completely overtaken by nature, but they cleaned that out like it has been in use all the time.
The factory now makes composite aircraftparts for Airbus and Gulfstream. they gave tours to the factory I took for 2 reasons;
It was impressive to see the manufacturing of parts for wings and jet engine covers. And I wanted to walk inside the ex-Delorean plant. Hardly anything recognizeable.

The door was open at the rear, this is were all the Deloreans came out aftyer they were built . Some cars drove in, I wanted to do the same thing.

I wanted to re-create this;

From a drive I did this past Friday. I've doctored the image a little to remove some signage that was cluttering up the background. Also did some color adjustments. Might retake this shot later if I'm able to get back earlier in the day when the shadows aren't so bad.

Not a internationally significant landmark - but a brand new viaduct in South Australia as part of an extension of our completely rebuilt rail system that is now electrified with all-new electric trains. Bit of a rail fan so it is entirely possible I am more excited about snapping this shot than perhaps others might be...

Beautiful day for a drive today. This is only about a one hour drive away from my home in Midwestern Ontario and I thought it would make for a nice picture. Not exactly the same as the car's birthplace, but you get the idea. Not much more than a half dozen homes to this town. No doubt the original settlers had an Irish background. :)

Hey, thanks. I found this place by accident really as I took a way home from DCS on the Canadian side that I had never been before. It is sleepy, that's for sure!

I love seeing so many little places that were named after cities overseas. Or street names even too. There are a ton of repeats, that's for sure. My hometown is Hanover, and there are dozens of those all over North America. :)

Good question. I'm trying to get more info about what the OO did, as the PO bought it already modded - he had really no info on the first owner since he had owned it for over 20 years and was too old to remember much. I do know the first owner did all the mods and showed it a lot - it has the Designed by Giugiaro emblems on both doors, and even SS squares glued onto the rear facia over the plastic ones. My guess is he wanted a gas flap hood (WIN for me!), and did the antennae fender as well. I need to register it here, as he had it registered in South Dakota. I did send a PM to James at DMCH but haven't heard back yet.

The bridge is great - I've been wanting to get a pic of the D going down the road as a Model A (there are a lot of old cars cruising around Jamul on a weekend) is going in the opposite direction, black and white, and some at the Campo train station - kind of a time travel series. With all the country roads out here there's some great photo ops.

I'd look for anything less spooky like old barns, etc.

Some late 81s came with the right front fender mount antennae. Apparently the factory ran out of the power rear and in efforts to keep assembly going just used the phased out front fixed for a while. I've seen quite a few that way.
