Buried in the comments of a recent Jalopnik article (one on the NorCal forest DeLorean) there was this little nugget;

A poster claimed that on the Japanese island of Awaji-Shima, there lies a mirror plated DeLorean, allegedly sitting since the ‘80s. Supposedly it is south of the Kaikyo Bridge.

Anyone heard of this one, can ID it? Is it even in Japan?

I don't know... I'm no Magnum P.I. but the Coke machine and basketball hoop seem to say no.

OK maybe the basketball hoop but it would seem the Coke machine wouldn't be in English.

Cheers

I saw those too, but the little Honda and Diahatsu (that look like RHD) would say yes. So I don't know.

On the other hand, that blue sign with white letters looks like it could be Japanese.

I saw that too but the pic is too small to be certain.

My uncles live about 30 minutes from that bridge in Kobe. I'll send this over to them so they can keep an eye out for it.

Just got word back from my uncle that the bridge is very close to his house. He'll go take a look and see if he can track it down.

PH article references this polished car in an article on another abandoned car in Japan

Includes a GPS map of the location, right in the middle of a town/city

I think people need to be careful when using the word "abandoned." It's more than likely that a given vehicle has an owner -- even if it's reverted to the estate in the event that the holder of the title is deceased. Perhaps "neglected" would be a better word to use. Using the word "abandoned" makes it sound like it's up for grabs. It wouldn't surprise me if the person who stole that black D in California and put it up on Craig's List thought "Look, an abandoned DeLorean," and decided to go all reverse-Marxism on it. :P

Tell that to the judge. He'll tell you you're full of shit with a lot more authority than I have.

does anyone know the exact location of the forest delorean? I just moved up to humboldt county and heard about this delorean before, interested in finding it. I wonder if there are any other owners or cars this far north in california.
