I'm also curious to know how can you find such a thing?

If someone tries to log into your account 5 times unsucessfully then it locks, so I'm assuming the OP had a locked account and is thinking it was a hacker

Mentioned off of the forum: "DMC talk sent me a notice that someone entered the incorrect password 5 times yesterday, I have not been on DMC talk in weeks."

I don't believe it locked him out though...

However, as he hasn't been back here since he posted, then maybe he has been blocked ????

I won't say that he hasn't been, but he didn't mention it.

Yes DMC Talk sent me a message saying that there were 5 attempts to access my account with an incorrect password.
I may have been locked out after that ... but by the time I had read the email all appeared to be re-set.

Yes Alexakos... maybe someone thought I was a Hooters gal. They could not be more wrong.

They are trying very hard to log in...what vital information do they hope to obtain?

I removed my credit card and bank account numbers, as well as my SS number and birth certificate picture from my PM box and albulm folders just to be on the safe side.:paranoid:

When the bots are trying to set up accounts, more times than not it does seem that they are just using random letters or numbers.

Like, instead of "Joseph", the bots will usually try to do something oh-so-creative like "dfadsgfdsf" or "342353", which may be why it was attempted.

I always heard that car forums were the best places to archive personal information like that. I also keep health and dental records, plus a log of my passwords and security question answers on my account.

Based on past experiences here, they wish to encourage us to buy genuine Canadian hockey jerseys while vacationing at a lovely Indian hotel.

I'm about to leave you bitches in the dust, since I'm on the verge of collecting around three million dollars from a Nigerian prince who is desperate to funnel his cash out of the country. SO LONG SUCKERS

Some of the more clever bots actually have a flat file list of first and last names, and pull randomly from each list to use for account details.

I guess I'm safe until they move onto their "Cartoon Characters" list.
