Back in 2003, I managed to fit my whole upper torso through the toll booth window at a DeLorean Mid-Atlantic meet. Fast forward to 2010, and I tried it again...

No butter (yuck), but you'll see the car is wet from some rain that was falling earlier. It really just made it more uncomfortable than anything though. This was the furthest I could fit through. I just looked back at the 2003 photo, and I only had one arm through, so this time I was actually more through! I almost couldn't get out after doing it though. I dont think there will be a repeat performance at DCS 2012. Perhaps a trunk/bonnet stuffing. Thats a little easier, especially when drunk.

The 2003 photo...

As a fellow skinny person, I must say I prefer it to being fat or 'normal' build for that matter.. I love to eat an ungodly amounts of food when I can and leave other people confused..lol Priceless.. I may not be able to build muscle easily, but I like being a skinny bloke.

i do as well--better than the alternative. im what was probably considered a 'normal' build... back in the '70s. i cruise the thrift stores looking for fitted vintage clothing, because modern the stuff doesnt fit me properly. i also like the fact that the vintage items are unique.

and hey, being skinny i can fit under my stock height jeep on a creeper without raising it up.

You want to know the face behind the poster? Watch this video, you get face, voice and a opinion about Top Gear US. And yes, there is even a DeLorean in there as you can see in the preview picture.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ifBH-xbABY

I am still wondering why I put that video up there. I am not one of those blog people. It feels absolutely un-natural looking into a camera, not to mention the foul ups in the language. I wonder how many weird comments I'll have to delete pointing those out by the Top Gear US fanboys. That is, if they ever see the video to begin with, I am not a youtube sensation.

Stay tuned after the final word for some outtakes... And those do contain some swearing, so be warned.

Nope; won't stop me in the least. I really don't mind heat. Besides, I imagine that it'll cool down in the evening. Though, I still think that we should have a DCS somewhere with less sun. Although, I've been meaning to take a nice vacation to Florida. I hear that they have a great selection of products that will aide me in my quest to keep kids off of my lawn.

I wouldn't call being worn by the likes of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake "making a comeback". Half of them don't have the curved-to-flat brim either. They aren't real fedoras, anyways.

Also, our Mess Dress uniform has a "boat cape". So don't worry, the Marines are still rockin' the cape.

There are many other people who wear fedoras; though, my knowledge of pop culture is fairly limited. What they wear is more of a porkpie hat.

If either you, Chad, or you, Renee, ever make it to New Orleans sometime, I will have to take you to Meyer's. They've been in business for something like 125 years and it's where I bought my black Stetson fedora and my brother got a gorgeous grey porkpie with black band which he still wears. They do have a lot of the el cheapo hats out front just to draw in off the street the folks who want the Will.i.am look or such, but if you can grab one the older salesman there (I forget his name) and tell him exactly what you want, he'll get a happy look in his eye knowing that you want a top quality hat and go out of his way to make sure you get a hat to last a lifetime. And you will: my Stetson has lasted almost 15 years and looks brand new; I'm sure barring disaster my kids will have to decide what to do with it after I'm dead.

The last time I was at Meyer's, they still had collapsible silk top hats in stock.

I'm going to go with ahead of the curve on this one. I was told fedoras would never make a comeback, but they did. Top hats and capes are the next progression.

When exactly where you told this? In the late 90s? I would argue that the fedora has never really "come back" nor has it ever really left. Fashion is a tricky beast, and to bring back certain accessories it must be done with style a very important component of fashion . What you're wearing is a costume. You are trying to mimic a look that you've apparently seen in films featuring vampires and the like or films set in the late 19th century. I can only assume this based on your handle "Dracula" and comments you've made in the past concerning your "Transylvanian heritage".

Fashion and fashionable are also different. Dressing the way you apparently do "normally" only serves to make you look like a freak. To "bring back" accessories like capes, top hats, and canes to make them "normal" they need to be incorporated subtly into what is considered normal. Definition of normal being "I could walk into store and nobody would double take" What I'm curious about is how you manage to get away with "normally" dressing like that. What job do you hold where that style of dress is permissible?

Concerning fedoras in particular: This particular hat is different than most because it’s never really left, but has adapted over the decades. It is exceedingly hard to find a true 40s or 50s style fedora these days, because the hat has evolved. Unlike most hats that have really stayed the same like bowlers, top hats.

Eddie Izzard sums it up well in the first few seconds of this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTnCtcvr384

I sell classic cars and related specialty-interest parts. As a result, almost any car I own is up for sale. It gets me a few comments, mostly laughing and a good conversation starter. Some of my better parts customers will, occasionally, stop in just to see what I'm wearing.

I describe the cars as openly and honestly as possible and tell things as straight as I can. THAT'S what my business is based off of and keeps it going, not the clothes I wear. Though, it does help to build a lasting memory. There are several people in the DeLorean Midwest Connection club that constantly laugh and joke about the time I showed up to a tech session and was working on my car in a 3-piece suit. Clothes are all a matter of personal preference and individual comfort is what matters most.

Also, Chad, I think you should know I managed to start a bar fight after insulting a guy's fedora and the wear thereof. So don't worry, I'm educating the world on proper fedora wear, one drunk Marine at a time.

If I'm not stuck missing DCS for a possible Army training session... ugh, then I can't wait to meet you then. I have the feeling that I owe you a drink.

I bought an accessory for the Delorean. I don't usually wear hats but when I do they are really odd and hard to focus on.

Does anyone else have one of these hats? They are just weird to look at, my boss walked by my desk today and asked if that was a real hat or if I had invented a hologram projector.

This is the only picture I have so far of me with my car. This is the day it came off the transport (the first day I got it). Don't know why the pic is sideways... it looks normal on my computer screen when I preview.

Lots of newer digital cameras and smart phone cameras take all images exactly the same. They then place a tag in the image to indicate its orientation based off of the accelerometers in the camera (which way is up!?). Software displaying the image then rotates it accordingly for the end user. The software on this forum doesn't seem to recognize those tags, so the image gets displayed in its raw format. I've posted my fair share of sideways images and even had some upside down. If you upload mobile images directly through your phone using Tapatalk, the Tapatalk software reads the orientation and fixes the image accordingly before uploading it to DMCTalk.

On your PC, rotate the picture right and then rotate back again.

Save the pic and it will now stay right way up when you post it.

What doesn't make sense it that I can use photo editing software like Gimp and the orientation is correct without manipulation. I'd say 19/20 times the pics I take with my iPhone post correctly. Additionally, I have posted the same pic in my resto blog over at Blogspot and it renders the correct orientation. My only issue has been a couple of pics posted on this particular forum. Oh well, no big deal.

I opened the pic in Gimp and re-exported to JPG. Looks like that did the trick.

No, it still makes perfect sense. It's not the photo which is the problem. It's the FORUM software that is the problem, not recognizing the rotation flag with it does it's own resizing to every image uploaded.

I have a friend who has made that change last year over in New Zealand. He says it may be a tough going at first with all the narrow minded individuals in his circle, but overall it is a spiritual liberation.

I say congratulations in finding your self!!!!!

Roman, one of the guys in my group of friends (we're all in our 30s) "came out" to us in the same way about a year ago, and just a couple months ago has started living as a female full time. "She" is much happier now, so I have some idea of how you must feel. Congrats on having the balls to do it (even though you don't want them! :) ), and all the best to you.
