Saw a trailer over the weekend for a new show called “The Getaway” to be broadcast this summer on the new Esquire channel.
Firstly, Esquire seems to be a rebranded G4 channel (a division of NBC), and I’m not even aware of whether I get it or not. Although apparently “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” (successor to Jay Leno) will be on it, so I will assume it is going to go mainstream.
Secondly. The Getaway seems to be a travel program about famous cities and places around the world, and one of the episodes is from Belfast, with a guy called Joel McHale (a US comedian best known from “The Soup”, formerly “Talk Soup”), a little odd as it is supposed to feature a “revolving cast of travel-loving celebrities who know them inside and out” and as he is an American living in LA so I am not sure of his intimate knowledge of the city. The point of his thread is that he is seen in the opening scenes getting out of a D, so whether this is just a prop or maybe gets a mention in the program remains to be seen.
