Mods,
The "How-To Guide" area of this forum used to be a great place to quickly find illustrated directions for procedures. Recently there's been a glut of "How to ______" threads started which, if you look at the title, LOOKS like a How-To Guide, but when you open it is somebody asking "Hey, how do I _____?" (And even when it is resolved, it contains no instructions or illustrations.)
Did the rules change? If not, can the How-To Guide section be cleaned up somehow to put the requests in the request thread and keep the How-To Guide section for How-To Guides?
Thanks.

Yeah, that subforum really does need to be limited to actual how-to guides and not questions.
I'll start poking through and moving the bad threads out into General Discussion to clean it up a bit. If you can cite some examples, that would be helpful.

They're all pretty recent additions.

I had noticed that too.
I was assuming that all these bots are taking up all the mods time :)
Thanks Chris.

I know. I hate to seem like I'm piling on. With any luck, this can simply be added to the to-do list. Moderating a forum is hard work, especially when you are volunteering to do it in your spare time!

Yep. 50-100 a day. They're easy to spot but sorting them out of the new users takes some time -- We don't want to loose any new members.
I have moved quite a few recently. I was waiting on some of them to see where they went...a couple I left because the question(s) were answered quite nicely.

Fair enough; I noticed this as well. Just wasn't sure how strictly the section was regulated.
FYI, a friend of mine who moderates a Facebook group also noticed a ton of "new members" every day, starting over Memorial Day weekend, all from Europe. (All spambots.) Weird.
We want to keep it as it was.
THANKS for the list Farrar! --I just cleaned up what was in it...Ozzie's (a link actually) was the only one that really belongs there).
I'm looking at the rest now...
EDIT: Had to make a judgment call on a few, but I think I got them all -- Let me know!

You're welcome, Ron. Glad I could help. I'll keep my eyes peeled for any more weirdness.
I guess it says something that I've owned my D since 2007 and am still browsing the "how to" section. :\
