Anyone got one? Recommendations of good ones versus ones to skip? I love the idea of just cutting when and where I want to and not worrying about grinders or cutoff tools or dulling blades...... Any experience with the HF one? http://www.harborfreight.com/230-volt-inverter-plasma-cutter-with-digital-display-95136.html

Aside from car stuff, I see making a new barbecue pit/smoker, my brew stand and associated keggles....etc..

Honestly, an oxyacetylene setup is probably more practical for most uses......that said, I bought "the absolute dirt cheapest plasma cutter on ebay".

It was a "cut50d", and ran about $300. I read a review here:

Here is a video review of the Colossal Tech Cut 50. Its cheap, mine had a few bugs, but its a cutting sombitch.....

I have to say, it's not bad. It makes decent cuts. I wouldn't try anything really thick with it, but it's not bad.

Also, plasma can do aluminum and stainless, which you can't cut with a torch.

You can, however, cut just about anything with an angle grinder........

If you have never used a plasma before, you will love it the first time you use, you can cut mostly any metal, very nice cuts in SS. Nothing to do with oxyacetylene.

Mine is over 10 years old, and it was over $4000.00 USD back then.

Buy the best one your budget allows you.

I use this one, it can seal just about anything or open just about anything and is highly compact and lightweight. If you are overrun by Xenomorphs, you can seal doors as you attempt to escape. If someone locks a door and leaves you for dead, cut it open quick, fast and in a hurry.
