Here's some pics of my second car, a 1985 Buick Electra Park Avenue. I obviously heavily customized it

And no, I wasn't on drugs at the time, although that at least would have been an understandable excuse :tongue2:

And here's my '96 Cadillac Eldorado Touring Coupe (ETC), and yes, it often times borrowed the plates from the D while the D was in winter hibernation.

Excellent, it's not as pretty as your cars, but it's mine, reliable and awesome on fuel. I need to figure out how to fix the body finish. I'll take a new picture and post it tomorrow, unless it rains. I don't mind riding in the rain, but it's bad for pictures..lol

Since 4915 has been at DPI being refurbished I have been using my 1996 Jaguar XJS convertible as my daily driver. She turned over 100,000 miles last week.
Most reliable car I've owned. Never had a wrench on her except routine maintenance. Also a shot of my 1997 Ford F150.

Just so you don't judge me, I usually buy an undervalued exotic every two years instead of a new car. Before I knew it, I was a collector. As you can see, I drive my vehicles.

@Jacko - Nice looking Jag and F150! :rock_on:

I previously owned an '02 XJ8 Vanden Plas, but sold it roughly 6 years ago.

No one would judge you here, as we all obviously have a car problem, and proudly so! :rock_on:

That's a great looking collection!

But i have to ask: do you get any Magnum / Tom Selleck jokes when driving the 308?

Man that is one clean looking Ram. That interior looks brand new.

The 2nd gen Rams are my favorite trucks. Here’s my '99 Sport.

Thanks - all my friends tell me that i tend to go overboard on detailing my cars. It's not unusual for me to spend 2 days detailing a single vehicle. But I'd like to think that the results speak for themselves 8)

2nd gen rams are the best IMHO! And of course I made sure that mine was St. Louis, MO (Fenton) assembled! I wish I would have ordered the manual instead of the auto, but the auto's been slip free so far - even when under heavy load. I was thinking about putting dual wraparound (as opposed to through the bed) chrome slotted stacks on my Cummins, but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Your Sport is tight and very impressive - I really like the flaps, roll bar, and light bar! Is it a 239 or 318?

Mine has the 5.9L 360 V8. I really wish it was diesel. When my nephew is old enough to drive (another year and half), he’ll proably get the truck and I can finally justify getting a 3500.

Thanks Kenny

That plate was actually inspired by the plate on Michael Keaton's character's car in the the film Night Shift (1982).

But apparently, not too many people make the connection (in fact, I can't think of a single person who got it in my 20 years of having that plate on that car).
Oh well, my grandmother was thankful that I didn't have the plate say 'I B KOOL'

Looks like a nice collection you've got there - love the Monte!

SWEET! Before I bought the dually, I had a 2500 with the 360. Bulletproof workhorse of a gas engine, but sucked gas like no tomorrow.

Even worse on gas was my sister's 2500 with the V10 - it was so bad that she had me do all of her pulling for her with the Cummins. She kept that truck for all of 9 months before trading it for a first year third gen Hemi.

You're not kidding! My truck averages 10mpg city and 13mpg to 15mpg highway depending on my right foot.

I will say for a gas motor it has pretty good towing power. I've hauled a jeep and my cars around with it and it never seemed to notice anything was back there.

I can only imagine what kind of sucky gas mileage the V10 got. Last year I had a guy try to trade me even for his V10. I’m very glad I didn’t do the deal now.

Not trading was definitely the right choice!

I average about 19mpg with the Cummins, either completely empty or when towing up to about 6,000lbs. Anything more than a 6,000lbs load and the mileage starts to drop. I've never gotten less than 15mpg though, even when towing a heavy load through hilly/mountainous terrain, and have gotten as good as 26mpg completely empty.

Personally, I'd only ever consider the 5.9L Cummins - either 12 or 24 valve versions. I honestly don't care much for the newer/bigger ones - yeah they can handle a bigger load, but they're overly complex to work on and too damn quite IMHO. I like my diesels nice and loud and I like to be able to actually hear the Holset spooling up

I won't even look at either of the other diesels from the competitors, Ford - Power Stroke and Chevy - Duramax/Isuzu, as glow plugs in a serious diesel is a big no, no for me and I could never own a diesel made by Isuzu.

That's an AWESOME collection Mike!

I'd like to one day own an S3 Lotus Esprit Turbo and an '82 Collector's Edition Vette. My dad currently owns a L79 '68 that he restored and a project in the works non-original-engined 454 '63 split window.

The PO of my D was actually going to trade it in towards an Elise before I ended up buying it from her.

I'm confused. I haven't seen an official photo yet. What makes it official, anyway? Was it photographed by the state for tax purposes? Photographed by an appraiser for insurance purposes?

Or do we just like using the word "official" on DMCTalk, and the word doesn't actually mean anything?

This thread, and all photos contained herein, have been sanctioned by the Ministry of Information:

Seriously, I was originally looking for a place to post pics of my Park Ave for Dermot and came across other threads like 'daily driver,' 'other cars you like,' etc, but none precisely fit, so I decided to start this broad/encompassing thread. And using the term "official" is something that I've seen done on other forums to prevent multiple threads from popping up that cover the same topic.

But Farrar... Those are not official!

Here's my rides:

2011 Toyota Tacoma. My dependable vehicle and coming in very handy with the delorean restoration for hauling parts
20292

1988 Ninja 250. Got this as a pile of parts for next to nothing. Put it back together and running. Not much to look at but it was a fun project and saves me alot on gas!
20291

And just because. A trike I modified. Installed a 50cc Honda motor off of a junk motorbike. Its very fun, dont drive it much after I got the motorbike going. However it paid itself off as being my transportation to school for a semester (no parking pass needed!)

I also would like to add H1 to my collection. Any advice on purchasing and owning H1? That Ferrari looks very nice but I heard that it's very expensive to maintain. Here is my undervalued Lotus.

Buy a 2000 and up. Cracking block issues and you want the newer A/C system. I've been looking a bit lately as I miss my G wagon. Other than that there aren't too many real issues...they're just not the cheapest to maintain.

It's funny how certain personalities are attracted to certain vehicles. The common thread between the DeLorean, Elise and H1 are the visceral appearance.

The Ferrari is actually not that bad. Mine is an 83 Quatrovalvole with the bosh K-jetronic fuel injection. If you can work on a DeLorean, you can work on the 308. Just like DeLoreans, there's an abundance of cross referenced parts and plenty of suppliers. If you plan on buying anything in a yellow box with horsies on the outside, plan on paying a premium. The car is fairly bullet proof as long as you stay on top of the engine belt maintenance. The joke about Ferrari's is that you buy the engine and they throw the car in for free. And yes, Magnum jokes are as common as flux capacitor jokes in the DeLorean. I think the Ferrari 308 is at the bottom of the depreciation curve right now and on the way up as are many cars of the early 80's. Decent 308's are in the 20's.

The Elise is a blast. Probably one of the great performance bargains and a bulletproof car (as long as you don't crack a clam....Elise owners know what I mean by this). Any Lotus right now will give you Lamborghini looks at Camry prices. I love the Esprit as well.

The H1 is a beast! I've had mine since 2004. Honestly, all of them are pretty decent and every year has its advantages and disadvantages. When I bought mine, it was a "highly undesirable gas engine model." They offered a 5.7 liter GM small block Marine motor in the 1995 and 1996 model year. It actually had more horsepower and torque than the diesel engined model of those years. The engine is bullet proof, quiet, and you can get every part at Autozone for it just by saying it is a 1995 Suburban. They require a lot of wrenching, much like a DeLorean, but they are designed to be worked on by an 18 year old soldier in the desert, if that is any indication. The diesel trucks had problems with the #8 cylinder cracking, most of those were replaced under warranty, and the PMD controller overheats and goes bad quite regularly. No known issues with the gassers, and they are rare. Very few were produced, so I think these will be worth some serious coin some day.

My wife drove it from Maryland to California without a single problem and it had almost 150,000 miles on it. Honestly, find one in your price range and exercise due diligence. I've gone to Hummer events and guys think mine is a 2006 H1 Alpha because of how clean it is on the outside and how quiet it is. I could probably sell mine for 50% more than I paid for it since they have stopped making them. There are two really good forums to be on that will square you away on any maintenance issue you can think of, much like the DeLorean.

Here is me pulling a Sheriff's Deputy out of a snow bank back in Maryland and a few other rescues20308

Ikn4ubl, LOL You have a very good taste in cars and trucks (like me  ) . I agree with you 100% about Lotus. This would be my third front clam or egg shell for me. I would love to own any Ferrari. Some day....
I am not a truck person but H1 convertible is my other dream "truck". What would be a reasonable price or budget for a non-alpha model H1 convertible (under 100K mile)? I have been keeping my eyes open at Hummernetworkforum for a good used California H1. I still need to convince my wife why we need to have a military style vehicle. :gunfire:

I haven't been seriously in the market lately (although the wife wants an H1 wagon now), so I can't really tell you what they are going for. All I know is that I couldn't buy my truck now for what I paid for it in 2004. I do know there have been some absolute bargains out there occasionally, but they are snapped up quick by someone that is usually on the network. An advanced search on ebay of ended auctions would probably give you a ballpark.

They sure get noticed. But I'm a little embarrassed when someone comes up and trashes the H2 or H3 and I have to sheepishly admit my wife has an H2 and I love it.

Once the wife drives an H1, she'll probably fall in love with it. My wife loves ours.

I was recently shopping and it looks like you're looking at $25-$30k on the very low end and they go up from there. I was only interested in the 2000+ models for previously mentioned reasons. I also want a diesel. If I had the $$ I'd get an Alpha, but that won't happen for a long time if at all.

Nice! My '10 SRT8 is in the garage but will get the rocker panels, subwoofer, taillights, rear bumper and bumper support and trunk liners installed this weekend. That'll put the car that much closer to seeing the road again. The car is a theft recovery so I'm not posting pics until I've at least got all the parts back on it to make it look whole.

You know, this is a car that fell into my lap. I have always liked the P1800 but mostly paid attention to the ES Shooting brake. My brother-in-law's uncle had this in his garage and sold it to me for $500.00 The floors needed replaced and the fuel system needed attention. The interior is broken down to regular use and it has that red paint that covers the orange it was born with. I haven't got to this car yet in terms of restoring/refurbishing anything. Just got it running to help move it around. This is an Early car that Jensen built. I think once you get the correct body rake and height from the ground these cars are a knock out. As you might already know the p1800 is the car that holds the record for the most miles. I think the guy has around 3 million on his.

What year is your Mini? I see it's got the side repeaters and it's wrong-wheel drive.
My Mini is titled as a "1976" however both of us know that these are often newer "shells." My guess is mid 90's. It has the single injection 1275 rover in it with the interior of a car of the same vintage. I imported this car into USA after placing a drunk "buy it now" bid on Ebay. They built it to my appearence spec's so I requested that the wheel be LDH.

I am looking to do a Vtec Mini soon. Its on my list and I have a spare B16 odb0 engine for it. I gotta finish up some of the other cars first. I have no more room to store any cars.

Thanks!

Yes, the newer one is a 2012, base model R/T, 5.7L HEMI, 6-speed. Had it about a year and a half, and I have 15k miles on it.

The older Challenger is a 1974, and it is badged like the ralley 360CI car, but it's not. It actually a plane-jane 318, with a slap stick auto. 4-barrell Holley w/edlebrock intake, and headers. Nothing else special about it, sorry to say, except its supper-fine red paint and blacked-out graphics. Not as fast as the 2012 Chally, but the car has a hold on me, and I can't seem to let it go.

As a joke, when I knew I was going to be buying the new one, my plan was to drive the old one up to the dealer, and say to the salesman. "I'm tired of this old bucket-o-bolts, I've been driving it around for 38 years now. You got anything like it new?" But for some reason it didn't happen.

Thanks!

Good your SRT will back on the road soon. Sorry it got stolen. This is the first I've ever heard of a newer model Challenger get stolen.

Ok I guess it is time I got around to posting up pictures of my other cars. I'll go oldest to newest:

First up is my 1969 Charter R/T with a 440, Auto trans, PS, PB, AC. This car I've had since I was 19 years old (20 years) and I've been fixing it up for quite some time. All of the major mechanicals have been through (rebuilt engine, trans, brake system redone from end to end), but the bodywork was looking pretty tired. So right now its in a restoration shop getting torn apart, all the hidden rust damage repaired and it is going to come out with a new paint job and looking like new. The interior is in decent shape, and I've got all the parts to replace anything that doesn't look nice. That will be done right after they are done with the body work. Here are a few shots:

Here is a walk around video with the engine running:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i82Kni1MVEk

Next is my 1983 Trans Am. It has a 305 and an Auto Trans. It is essentially the Knight Rider car sans the Knight Rider conversion:

209632096420965

Finally is my daily driver - a 2011 Inaugural Edition SRT8 392 Challenger. It is one of only 1100 made for the US (392 were made for Canada) and is number 668/1100. It features a special interior that you could only get in the Inaugural Edition Challengers - white leather with blue stripes and the engine size embroidered into the seats. Other features that are unique is the blue with white stripes, only available for this special edition (half the cars were blue with white stripes, the other half white with blue stripes), the rims and exhaust tips were an exclusive at the time, but have since been made available as options. It has 470 horsepower and 470 torque, will run mid 12's in the quarter mile, and will do almost 180MPH. It is a super fun car to drive :)

The quad tips are part of the special edition features of the Inaugural Edition Challenger. Originally they were supposed to only be available as part of the special edition, but later on Mopar started selling them as an add-on. Mine also have the M on top, which stands for Mopar.

With my totally stock manual trans car I ran a 17.00 in the 1/4 mile. I'd have to check the slip to tell you what the speed was at the end of the run... I think it was 83mph.

I had a good reaction time off the line and for the first few seconds I was ahead of the other car. There was actualy a video of the race on the .com site...I'll have to try and find it again.

Years ago at the DMCH open house they did a drag strip day. I think the "fast" car did about 16.8. 17 was about average, as was 80-85 mph. No records were kept. . . . .

Got a car for my son last week. Here she is awaiting to be finished. It's a Jaguar SS-100 replicar. It has the custom frame, Mustang Suspension, 0-mile rebuilt 2.8l V6, fresh ford rear end, 5 speed manual and lots of work left to do. This is going to be a great Father/Son project for the next few months. We are really hoping to finish it by the time his Jr. prom comes around in Mid-May as it has a 20/30 theme.

If anyone has experience with this type of project I would love to hear from you. It's about 60% complete and has changed hands a few times so some things are missing, some steps were done out of sequence, somethings are different (instructions are for a 4cyl. with automatic), etc. This is going to be a challange but looking forward to see him running down the road in it.

It already cost me an arm and a leg (but so far worse than 3922) and a lot of hours in work to keep it running, but we spent some awesome quality time in it already (have it for 2 years now), exploring the Northern West Coast (US and CAN).

And hey, 4 rectangular headlights, front radiator and rear mounted engine with all the problems that come with it, so not so different from the D after all. :dork:

'37 Jaguar Replicar update. We had to pull the trans and bell housing because the clutch was stuck fast and no about amount of jarring it was shaking it loose. But in the process I discovered that the throw out bearing was installed incorrectly so it needed to come out anyway. We did drive it around the parking lot on the day when this photo was taken with the stuck clutch. I suspect we have about 2 to 3 weeks of work left before we can get her inspected. After the drive my son's excitement for the car double so getting him to put in the hours now is not a problem. Problem now is that this old man is getting wore out from working on it. But it's all good and a fantastic way to spend the long 4th of July weekend.

Have a thing for Astra's.

Left is the Mrs newer 2013 5 door hatch.
1.6 turbo. 6 Speed Auto, full leather pack and SatNav. Very nice, wish the box was a DSG.
132kw roughly from memory.

On the right is my ride 2007 3 door hatch.
2.0 turbo. 6 speed manual, full leather interior with sunroof.
Has been remapped to roughly 180kw. Lowered springs, heavy duty clutch and lightened flywheel (rattles when idling  )
Dave and Julee has been in the red Astra as I don't think they have seen one before.
Julee did get a little car sick in the back. :p

And finally, another classic car, 79 Lancia Zagato.

Not mine pictured, dead ringer except for the US side lights and bumpers.
This has been with my father since new and lucky me (love - hate relationship), I have inherited it.
Currently sitting at a panel shop (for the past 3-4 years) getting the rust cut out as it cannot be registered till then.
I've had it for over 7+ years now. :( Hard to find good and decently priced panel beaters.

Best to get a custom license plate that says either '56E-478,' '308GTSI,' or 'ROBIN-1' - that will assure that you get plenty of Magnum comments, though probably not, as Magnum doesn't seem to have quite the fandom that BTTF generated, but still might be fun

In addition to the roof, the package included special stainless steel rocker, grill and trunk trim. It also has the Oldsmobile sport steering like the 442 / Hursts of that era. The digital dash, which was rare on a stock Toronado, was standard on the Caliente package. Only aprox 5,000 were made.

So over the past few years I've been restoring an 83 Trans Am. The exterior was pretty nice, but the interior was shot when I got it. Almost every piece of plastic trim, vinyl, weatherstripping, carpet, or cloth on the inside had to be replaced. I did quite a bit of the work myself, but passed it off to a specialty shop for the T-Top weatherstripping, carpet, and seat recovering. I did the dash, console, headliner, and a bunch of other misc stuff. Here is it is after all of that:

It came with different seats. I swapped out for the PMD seats. The interior color is original. I used to own an 82 with PMD seats and I really liked them, so when I redid the interior I put PMD seats in and had them recovered. Also I have that Knight Rider thing in the back of my mind all the time from watching the show too much as a kid. I don't want to convert it to a KITT car, but I want all the options the Trans Am that KITT was created from had. I'm about to put the "bowling ball" rims on it as well.

I currently have two cars, a 2000 Honda Insight hybrid and a 1969 Subaru 360 truck. I don't have any pictures of the Insight right now, but I've got a few of the truck!

Next to an abnormally large truck:

With two 360 vans owned by my friends:

http://i.imgur.com/QIMG3rc.jpg

These things are great. I'd actually say they might be comparable to the amount of attention a D gets. Everybody's always staring as you drive by, people constantly ask for pictures and ask what it is. It's especially funny when six people clamber out of one of the vans.
My truck needs brake and engine work. It used to run just fine, but now it only backfires when you try to start it. Might be an ignition problem. I need to troubleshoot it more. All the brake slave cylinders need to be rebuilt, too. One of the 360 vans has an EFI conversion that we did, so I will probably switch to that as well. We want to swap old Mini hubs on so we can get some decent disc brakes, too.

Haha, you and everyone I know. I've thought about several different turbocharged 4 cylinger engines. Since it weighs so little, it shouldn't take much to get up and go.

Honestly I'm going to do the same as what I did with the DeLorean. Drive it for several years with the original engine, and decide how I feel about it. If I decide it needs more power, I'll make decisions now. I even have a spare transmission so mocking up an adapter setup would be fairly easy.

Got it in silver so it matched the Delorean.

Planning to remove all of the Jeep badging and re-brand it to a DMC theme.

Want to find a DMC front grill emblem and glue it to the front grill. Get some stainless letters for the rear left side bumper.

In addition to all of that, I want to get wheels like this so it will also match my car too.

Would like to see if a stainless DMC shift knob fits. Maybe find a Craig AM/FM cassette deck to put in.... Wait a minute, going to far now.

40059400604006140062Ha I actually love that shit brown color, its so ugly it looks good lol. I pulled the original 1098 and put a hopped up 998 that I re built in it. Other then that i put original cooper s style 9.5 inch disc brake conversion on the front. The poor offset rims came from the owner i bought it from. I have done a lot of work to the car. everything under the hood is new. I rebuilt the transmission shifter housing, rear brakes, front axle shafts are beefed up, front cooper s discs, all new front supsension, exhaust etc. Also put hi lo coil spring adjustable front and rear suspension in the car. The car needs adjustable lower control arms to fix the terrible offset rims, but i do like the 12 inch rims and need them so i can clear the front brakes now. Once this engine shits the bed i am going to put a vtec in it probably just so its a little more reliable for her. Although we have gotten so many compliments on old school origional feel of the car that she is starting to lean towards keeping it true to its roots.

Blue engine is the rebuild. I used ford blue cause she like it. Old engine is the black one

If you need parts for it, I can vouch for this place:

http://www.motorcarsltd.com/jaguar/

They're in Houston, and have a MASSIVE amount of parts, remanufactured engines, as well as retrofit kits and the like. They also do the same for Land-Rovers, MGs, Triumphs, Mini's, and Rolls-Royces.

Like this one?

As for the wheels I love the look of 13x7's but hate the ride. 12x6's are the best I've found. I've got a set of 10x6's and 13x6's still to try out once I get the swap completed.

Hey man just curious, but did you use a minitec sub-frame, and also did you get the engine out of a wrecked car? there 10+ price tag for a kit seems ridiculous to me. I feel like I could buy their sub-frame kit and get an engine elsewhere.

My fun little runabout. It's never boring driving this; always something to manage, always something to think about, always something to work on/fiddle with/adjust/fix once it's back in the garage. I love it.

Just sold my bummer and picked up my new daily driver. It's an Alfa Romeo 159 TI 2009. And better yet it's also sort of Delorean related as it is also designed by the great Giorgetto Giugiaro :D It may not be the prettiest car, but practical where I live (Norway) with the sport wagon styling, brembo brakes, automatic transmission and 150hp diesel engine.

You Europeans get all the fun toys! Seriously though, I love Alfas. My dad had a 73 GTV for 10 years when I was a kid and that was one of my favorite cars growing up. Glad Alfa is back in the states and definitely looking forward to the Giulia release later this month. I remember looking at 159s on the international website years ago and wishing they would show up on our side of the pond. Enjoy it!

Thank you OverloadMan!

I have always been thinking the other way around, how you guys in the states have better toys than us, atlas for a lot cheaper!

And yes, I am too really liking forward to the Giulia release, I will drop by the Alfa dealership later this week and sign up for a test drive, I will bring my Delorean as a ice breaker, it really did wonders when I went to the Tesla dealership the other day, parked next to their model x. Not a big Tesla man, they actually made gulping doors look boring, and that says a lot I think.. So for now I will definitely enjoy my 159 TI :D

Thanks, bought the car unseen about 8 years ago in New York from ebay. Have all documents since 1980 with it. The car did not need much, just some new shocks. Not show condition but fun to drive!

At my old job I did a lot of testing on the 2nd and 3rd row seats for that car. I nearly crushed my foot during some of them, so you better love them. The brown seats with the grey trim looked like some awful 70s furniture though.

Despite what Farrar's thread and people's comments about Chrysler would lead you to believe, Chrysler does really test these things for quality. Not sure what I can say because of NDAs, but I took tons of tedious CMM measurements on the seat cushions which a consumer would probably never notice if they were off. I absolutely hated working on those lol. It didnt have much to do with the seats themselves and hopefully you love them so it doesnt feel like it was all for nothing. In case you ever need to take them apart for any reason, I can help because I have taken them apart and back together so many times over.

Is this Pacifica minivan replacing the T&C ?

I looked at the old Pacifica which was a 2+2+2 when we had our old van but I have seen the ads for the new Pacifica and it is everything my Caravan was, so is it slightly bigger/smaller or just replaces it?

As mentioned, the new Pacifica replaces the Town and Country AND, the Dodge Grand Caravan.
Cargo space in the Pacifica is supposed to be about 7 Cubic Ft. More, then the outgoing models.
In the few days I've had the Pacifica, it seems smaller looking from the outside but, It's definitely roomier inside then my 2012 Grand Caravan.
It's also a Lot more fun to drive. :)

It seems an odd marketing choice to abandon the name that invented the minivans and replace it with the name of a fairly unsuccessful also-ran. If they wanted a clean break, I'm surprised they didn't use a new model name altogether.

Despite what Farrar's thread and people's comments about Chrysler would lead you to believe, Chrysler does really test these things for quality.

I am convinced that my recent problem was caused by poor supply chain management and a service department at a dealership which is badly staffed.

I've got my '06 PT Cruiser turbo back and now that its problems are solved it's a joy to drive again. If I were to get another Chrysler, it would be a Pacifica because I am going to be a "family man" soon. I have always preferred Chrysler's handling to other cars I've driven, which is why I've driven nothing but Chryslers (with one exception, which I didn't like) since my first, which was a 1993. In my opinion, Chrysler has always made vehicles with the driver's enjoyment in mind.

Thanks, mr_maxime, for being part of a team that produced outstanding vehicles. My parents still have their '03 Town & Country and everything works - even the electrics! ;)

Thanks Michael! I love the older Z/24's and would like a convertible version. In the 16 years I owned this car, I only replaced the water pump, reverse light switch and a drivers window motor....... That's it! I drove this car all over the country till I retired it as a daily driver in 2008. Now its just a weekend car, still in like new condition and the supercharger makes this thing fly!!!!

I have fond memories of the TT. My best friend bought a TT the moment they came out, and paid a small premium, putting it just over $40K IIRC. This was an ungodly amount of money to me, and well over what I grossed in a year in 2000. One night he hooked up with a girl and threw me the keys to drive it an hour away to his place and I was absolutely petrified of wrecking it. To show how deprived I was, and still am, to me that big 4 was crazy fast. One time we drove it into Mexico and so that we could get blasted and bar hop, we paid a random Mexican guy to drive us around-- and the guy was absolutely floored and ecstatic we let him drive it. My friend kept it for a few years and at 88K miles it started producing some black smoke here and there and he let it go. Good times!

Technically this car is mine since it is titled in my name but I don't drive it but this is my wife's car that I bought her for Christmas. She was a very big help and being the driving force of finishing my DeLorean and getting it back on the road so they could be in our wedding. Basically I had to finish the car who were there would be no wedding LOL. So as a token of my appreciation and the fact that my wife is a Gearhead herself and really big into Mopars, well this is her dream car that I bought her brand new and had the dealership do a few old school modifications. Its a 2016 Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker with the Super Track Pack painted in Plum Crazy Purple, R/T side stripe, hood pins, stainless door sills. Upgrades we performed are the Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust, Hellcat cold air inlet kit using the fake left highbeam, cold air intube between the throttle body and air box withthe factory cold air intake of the shaker scoop and a Petty Enterprises strut tower bar and soon ordering another one for the trunk. She loves it like i do the DeLorean and she did upgrades herself. Also, found out from Chrysler customer support that her car with the options it has is 1 or 14 made. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170610/bf4eb7a9c62be6e583ffc7c8930dfee4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170610/3d248ce8050968301478091461b7f473.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170610/6fd7fc7b41300ef68653ad1529692c19.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170610/a2e7bf5b0403ae6f08fc476bd68acdeb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170610/61d4ec1d98af48e3fd22fcd8fb9011fd.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170610/72af961ddd2affa06e8ae1996be938f6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170610/ccbad4c38f5768ca89b8db948366f0b0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170610/459667e74ad5e58a7c6251b58fb69ceb.jpg

Now that I'm not using the Odyssey as a shop truck, we decided that a sportier driver car was in order.

I think we're officially past the Minivan stage of life.

Yeah - look up tires for just one specific year of BMW on Tire Rack, it's absolutely insane how many models they have now.

I prefer normal size cars over SUVs. Don't really care about ground clearance on a street car.

Whelp, my only car (also non-D) is one I posted on this thread a few years ago. It hasn't gone anywhere since. Only changes done to it are whatever parts got worn and needed to be replaced over time, especially that old license plate. I can take new photos of it, although it's covered in a thick coat of pollen right now. We hoped last week's possible rain would wash away the stuff, yet it didn't happen.

Hi, it’s an old fashioned driving experience, no power steering or power brakes. Carbureted engine and no air conditioning.

That said, it is a laugh to drive. I frequently find myself giggling while chucking it around corners and reving the engine past 7k. Feeling like Lauda while not breaking the law.

Simple to maintain too.

This was my first brand new car I bought in January 2000 when I was 22 years old and today has 126k miles and still just as clean and new 18 years later! About 90% original including the paint, clutch, stereo andn speakers. Only mods are functioning Ram Air hood and the cat back exhaust system and a GM performance parts M45 supercharger that takes the 2.4 Twin Cam from 150hp/155tq to 205hp/200tq. Its been a great reliable fast and fun car and hasn't been a daily driver since 2008! I have had plenty of offers to sell the car but I never will and I love Cavaliers and these cars are getting harder to come by now that are in any decent shape at all.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180324/4fbb5e74433d8e1bb5fb1292aac1d24f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180324/a438f574fc954887b8e9d6d93aa84497.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180324/7bd0f1eaf34cf50a4dccff40401c77d9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180324/5a752f5d16f3c25d72b5242e79ad487a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180324/b3a3154ead03c0e56224311e580ddbf2.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180325/4c936b6c49b3e6cf31e3c152decc9dc1.jpg

After about 1.5 years of daily driving my delorean, I finally got a daily driver. I've been saving for something decent, but a friend sold me this ultra basic protege for dirt cheap. It's a manual, but doesnt even have a factory tachometer.

Nice to see another E46 owner on here. I've got an '04 325i for a daily driver and just passed 260,000 miles. I'm on my second (preventative) cooling system refresh but otherwise still going strong. I was originally shopping for a 330i or ZHP but came across this 325i and couldn't turn it down. It's got both sport/premium packages and is a manual trans car which is sort of unusual. It was originally a corporate car, so some guy must have been limited to the 325 vs the 330 and then optioned it out.

Yeah, the E46 will run forever if you feed and care for it. This is our second one, we had a 330xi until my wife decided she wanted a 535xi. Now she drives the MINI, go figure.

It took me over a year to find that 330Ci. Not many BMWs are made without a sunroof. I just bought this in January. It was a one owner car. The guy ordered it from the factory as a stripper and drove it almost 160k miles. The only options it has is the clear corners and sport wheels; and the Dinan cold air intake and engine map. It's a 5-speed, love it.

You guys have some good taste. Making me nostalgic for an '01 330Ci I had a long time ago. Nice performing car. One of the better ones I've had in that area.

....Michael... I think I see a speck of dirt on one of those tires on your work van. I think you could line up a thousand vehicles in a row and still know exactly which ones are yours. :)

Wow !!! Now that is a car that have similar door window as the Delorean, but have the window motor not in the door. I wish the Delorean had a similar set up.These windows are much wider too.

Just brought this home this weekend. It's a 2002 BMW 325i and it's nearly identical to my current daily driver but it's got 100% more wagon. :wiggle:

Here's a shot of my 325i sedan next to the DeLorean.

Both BMW's are manual transmission which is particularly hard to find on RWD wagons especially w/ the sport package and in red. For the wagon I'm thinking I might do an S54 swap from an E46 M3 and build the M-Sport wagon BMW should have offered.

The parts experience is a lot different from the DeLorean.

New rear brake cylinders in stock at the local parts store. $13 each.

Water pump: $40 including free overnight delivery.
