Apparently the West coast Customs guys did a prank on him as if the car was stolen. but were able to recover it due to some tracing system.

Who the heck would steal this ?????:banghead:

PS Notice Will.i.am is the one with the purse and not his date! Gives a hint of taste:P

That third one down, it doesn't look too bad from the surface. I'm guessing somewhere around 3k of damage if the quarter panels aren't dented?

Not good to be a member of the "I wrecked a DeLorean" club. Ugh. Thanks for the pain and suffering, Louie. Lol. I've had a ton of close calls over the years as well.

The damage around the headlight here reminds me a lot the damage to the original "Eleanor" in Gone in 60 Seconds.

I remember when this car was for sale around '99 or '00. The good news is this car was bought by a DMC Talk/DMC News member. It has been restored to it's former glory for over a decade now. I can't remember the owner's name, but I do remember they were involved in the Mid Atlantic club.

One of those was a parts car I had a while back. The one with a burned rear end in the field. That same car is the one on the flatbed trailer with the red truck in the background. After stripping all I needed that car went to Rich W. Basically a rolling frame with a torched engine and a decent transmission. Rich...did you ever do anything with that parts car?

Yes, I was able to salvage a few items from that burn car, including the wheels, hubs, axles, and
possibly some core parts as well. Unfortunately, I have parts from at least 4 different burn cars,
so I do not recall all the parts that were taken off each of the burn cars. I do need to take a few
photos of some of the very sad, damaged parts that I have kept over the years.

I believe the doors from this vehicle were cut down for either the original DeLorean Hovercraft
or the DeLorean Roadster Convertible (the original "test fit" doors).

I think I may have passed along the the burned torsion bar(s) to Dave Swingle at a Tech Day.

Sorry Guys! I am facing a similar situation in my garage right now so all those images are totally familiar to me. (see my thread)

Found a few more photos of that car ... that was the one that was vandalized and set on fire.

I still have the front section of this underbody ... in fact I just moved it around this weekend.

I told him I'd give him $3,500, considering all the stainless panels are damaged, the frame is shot, the engine is shot etc. Even then I thought I was being too generous. He told me to "pound sand" and that he'd "rather let it rot" then sell it for less and also that he "makes half a million a year so he doesnt need the money and will just keep sitting in it smokies fatties."

In 3-5 years it will be worth less than $3000 with the window broken and the Canadian weather "working" on it. :giggle:

Wow that car is in rough shape. Come winter it will be filled to the bottom of the window with snow. I wonder what the story is about the left rear suspension, that's gnarly. And the LFF is toast... All in all a pile of junk. Dave you are right $3500 is very generous.

It would be great to know the VINs of all these cars. But that may be impossible by now.

This is my first DeLorean, #10115. I was hit by a drunk driver. This car was bought at an insurance auction for $2,000 in 2003 and has become a parts car:

This is Darren Decker's #5000 at DCS 2004. It was immediately repaired at PJ Grady, and is one of the nicest DeLoreans on the planet:

I honstly can't tell if these are dents or if thing is just dirty. It looks like a DeLorean that belonged to Swamp Thing.

ALEXAKOS, Dale E Funk had posted on the 'DeLorean Fanatics' Facebook page that he was doing work on a few cars and mentioned that he was removing the engine from VIN 941, He later showed this picture to remind everyone why he had to remove the engine in the first place. This car with the fire isn't new.

Wow, I've always thought the stainless panels on the DeLorean were fairly thick (never really felt them in real life), but the pictures in this thread make them look like tinfoil. How thick are the panels, exactly?

Razor thin.

Dangermouse

Razor sharp certainly, but I would say that they are thicker than modern-day cars.

The above car was hit by the "bumper of a Budget truck", so I am thinking the fabricated checkerplate square rear bumper that you see on tehse rental trucks, which would certainly explain the panel damage and the rear wheel knocked out of alignment

According to the internet the panels are 22 gauge, or .030". I just put a set of calipers on my fender and hood and it seems correct. It's tough to find a spot where there wouldn't be any stretching or change in material thickness from when the parts were pressed.

So aside from the body damage do we know why the rear wheel and rear quarter are no longer where they belong in relation to each other? And in the upper photo we see the left wheel is toed out a lot.

A guess is that this car lost its left TAB at medium/high speed starting a chain of events that resulted in this.

Any info on what really happened here?

Hopefully this is no-one on here
