I decided I want to keep the original steering wheel but I am looking for some reviews from any of you on the quality of the following options to get it recovered/replaced:

Here is what I found, if there are other companies that offer recovering, please post as well if you have experience with them:

http://www.specialtauto.com/delorean-parts/accessories.html (halfway down the page)
$299.95 +core charge

http://store.delorean.com/p-7345-steering-wheel.aspx
$339.27 + core charge

http://www.craftcustoms.com/index.htm
I just called them and its $299.99 (they mentioned that they have done a bunch of Deloreans before). This price includes the more expensive/original "basting" style stitching ($50 additional option -see website). Also, they can double up the padding (1/8" thicker) for an additional $50.

Has anyone used one of these sources? How do you like the quality of the leather, stitching, and assembly, detail, service, etc?

Thanks!

I replaced my stock wheel with this. Much better IMHO. Everyone who sees it likes it better.

I've got a great option...you can buy the steering wheel off of 10077 for $300, no core charge. The leather is in excellent shape and you can flip your stock one. Just throwing that option into the mix.

Is that a DMC Houston product? I thought that they had discontinued selling it?

It's a regular momo wheel with the DMC hub. I used a wheel cap for the center.

I got one of those leather wheel wraps that's sewn together. Turned out very nice. Don't have a pic of it. I'll try to get it up later.

My steering wheel did not look so bad but as I had my armrest etc recovered I tought to take care of the steering wheel too.
It was done in Germany and I paid more or less the same has been mentioned here.
I did some research and it is one of the hardest things to recover in leather.

The one I contacted had this steering wheel already done and he sent me pictures, so we just swapped wteering wheel, so I had it immediately.
The center pieces comes from Welmoed (he 's on the forum)

It makes a big difference, and it is original.

That center piece is the classiest solution I've seen regarding the lack of a logo on stock DeLorean steering wheels. I've always thought the blank steering wheel made the car look a bit kit-carish, but have never liked the other aftermarket solutions I've seen. This one is great!

My second DeLorean had a recovered stock steering wheel- it was done in a really high quality leather, and was 2 tone grey & black. I'm not sure that's the look I would have gone for myself, but it did look nice. I can't remember which company did the recovering- the receipt is with the car's new owner.
