A little background first ...

The DeLorean Time Machine Replica Prop Car is a 1:1
Full-size fiberglass model of the DeLorean Time Machine
created from the same molds used to create the flying
BTTF II Movie version of the DeLorean Time Machine.

This promotional recreation was not screen accurate
and it was used as a museum display for several years
then discarded to the back lot after initial display use.
Prop Car was purchased and refurbished in 2002/2003.

Currently, this Prop Car is the only Time Machine Replica
that weighs under 880 lbs. and can be displayed in hover
mode (by cables/crane) or on its wheels, for displays that
require a light-weight vehicle, such as on a stage or riser.

The DeLorean Time Machine Replica Prop Car has been
at many events, but at the Chicago Innovation Awards
last night, there were many Instagrams, Twitter and
FaceBook post (with photos, of course) at the event.

I will post some links later today.

I will post some links later today.

Sorry for the posting delay ... its been a busy past few days (and I have been away from a computer).

First off, the Chicago Innovation Awards 2013 had a Back to the Future themed awards event this year.
The event was held at the Harris Theater Chicago, which is actually located below the Millennium Park.

Since the event needed a DeLorean on-stage (weight restrictions), my DeLorean Time Machine Replica
Prop Car "fit the bill" for what was needed. In fact, the right front tire was parked right on a trap door.

I transported the Prop Car in my enclosed trailer to the event, however, the only entrance to the back
stage area was sub-basement lower, lower level dock, and even though my Prop Car can be displayed
in Hover Mode, I still needed a flatbed to assist getting the Prop Car to "dock height" to get to the stage.
The logistics ran like clock-work and we actually got the Prop Car in ahead of schedule.

I was asked to stay for the rehearsals, to get the Prop Car lined up where it would be displayed, then we
marked the spot and backed it off-stage, so it would have a grand entrance at the start of the event.
Then moving it back and forth for lighting checks and fog machine "tests" and strobe light effects tests.
After the Prop Car was "set", then Million Dollar Quartet came in for their on-stage sound checks.

Whitney Jones, the woman who plays the girlfriend of Elvis in the Million Dollar Quartet was beside herself
with the fact she would be performing on-stage with a DeLorean Time Machine. (my new best buddy)
She took over a dozen photos with the Prop Car and I have a few of her Instagram links below.
Needless to say, I will need to get a full cast photo of Million Dollar Quartet next to a DeLorean.

Attaching a few photos of the event below, along with several links to Instagram photos as well.

Attaching a photo below of the "Grand Entrance" of the Prop Car and the two hosts for the evening (Doc and Marty).

The Prop Car was revealed after a short BTTF spoof skit, with both hosts in the same BTTF character costumes.

Attaching a number of photos from the Chicago Innovation Awards last week.

From the view of the photographer, it appeared the DeLorean Time Machine
Replica Prop Car was photobombing hosts and guests in almost every photo.

I thought it was an interesting "theme" for many of the photos that night.

DCS 2004 was the first time I displayed the refurbished DeLorean Time Machine Prop Car Replica.

Attaching a few photos below, including "before" and "after" some BTTF cast and crew signatures.

After DCS 2004, the BTTF Time Machine Prop Car Replica was in a storage unit until late 2006.

Unfortunately, it missed appearing at DCS 2006 since I "ran out of time" moving my vehicles to the show
and the storage unit place changed their hours (formerly 24 hour access) and I was locked out of the unit.

Attaching photos of the prop car in the storage unit and after I removed it from the unit in October 2006.

It was 7 years ago this month that the BTTF Time Machine Prop Car Replica appeared at Adobe MAX 2007 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

It was an 80's theme for Adobe MAX 2007 and the DeLorean Time Machine fit right in for the event, with other "Super Sized" 1980's props.

I believe 2007 was the first year that I displayed the DeLorean Time Machine Prop Car Replica as a "float" on my single place open trailer.

I displayed the prop car as a "float" twice in 2007, with the first time being at the Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade:

It seems like the DMC Club never has a shortage of attention given to our DeLoreans, especially from the Chicago Police Department.

So many "hoops" to jump through for all the drivers...need to see current registration, insurance card and driver's license of each driver.

Lot's of paperwork to fill out as well. We need to have it every year...sometimes they look at it, sometimes keep it, sometimes nothing.

The St. Pat's Parade 2010 was the last and most recent appearance of the DeLorean Time Machine Prop Car Replica in this parade.

The DeLorean Time Machine Prop Car Replica is now stored over 100 miles away from downtown Chicago, so it is a lot of work just
to do the 400+ miles of driving, there and back, there and back, to get the vehicle to the parade (and pay to be in the parade).

A big thanks to Tony Swann for having PJ Clarke's sponsor our entry fee for 2010. (and thanks to the two servers from PJ Clarke's)

Just saw this thread.
Love shots. Wakes up memories. Used to live 10 years ago at 300 N.State:) Chicago is my second home.:thumbup2:
Weird how I missed your parades. I was around at every St. Patric's. From the river dying green to the high pub traffic near Lincoln Park.

Hi Alexakos,

The DeLorean Midwest Connection Club has been in the downtown Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade for the past 20 years (since our debut in 1994).
We had some good staging number in the parade for the first decade, but we have not seen a "double digit" staging number since 2006. In fact, we
have had "triple digit" staging numbers since 2007, with most of them being at the end or near the end of the parade (one of our highest was #172).
Attaching a couple photos of the Chicago skyline back in 2005, one facing Northeast and one facing Northwest.

As for the area around 300 N. State, did you live near there or work near there? I did some work around 400 N. State about 8 - 9 years ago
and I do not recall many (or any) residences in that area, only businesses and hotels. I also had an office at 980 N. Michigan for a short time.

Later,
Rich W.

I LOVE Chicago. Was there for a week for work related stuff (I worked for Nokia in San Diego) and stayed at a small boutique hotel on West Kinzie off State. Got to eat at Weber Grill (that was neat), and of course Giordano's over by the Sears Tower.

Would like to go back when it's not so cold (went in October).

Marina City is very interesting architecture - wonder what came first, that or the Jetson's apartments....

Forgot to post these photos at the end of last month, after the Downers Grove South HS Homecoming and 50th Anniversary Class Reunion event.

There was a Back to the Future theme for both the Homecoming and Reunion events. There was little doubt who enjoyed seeing the DeLorean more.

As expected, the Class Reunion attendees were much more excited about the DeLorean Time Machine Replica Prop Car than the current students.

Such a shame. So pretty, yet so dumb.

Car looks great though. Arguably more realistic than the fiberglass car(s) used in the movies.

Posting a few photos of my BTTF Replica Prop Car at the Tree House Foods Convention at the Schaumburg Convention Center
near Chicago. The BTTF Replica Prop Car was there from Wednesday through Friday, so I am sure there will be some Instagram
photos (or other Social Media posts with photos) popping up between now and over the weekend.

Posting the photos for reference, since the carpeting looks similar to the convention room at the Hilton in FL for DCS 2012.

The actual event had a lot of huge balloons with weighted strings, so it will be interesting to see how the BTTF Replica Prop Car
looked in the finalized setting, with the house lights down and the event lighting added.
