Thank you for the response Josh. Car # 20069 engine removed by mechanic
engine in 1,000 pieces. Block going back together with matched new sleeves and
pistons. Mechanic MIA at this moment. I am out $1,500.00.
What are my options?
I would like to have original engine in the D. Is this really necessary for resale?

Take the shop to small claims and sue the shit out of them.

If you mean is the original engine needed, in a "matched numbers" scenario, I would say No. Any PRV would be good. In theory a non-PRV engine swap is great if done properly but so few of those have come up for sale, it's hard to say.
If you are asking whether an engine (any engine) is needed for resale, as opposed to "no engine" I would say that you will get a far better price for a running car than a non-runner. But cars w/o engines have sold particularly to people wanting to do an engine swap anyway.

Need to cover all bases. Will be keeping the D so running is preferred with original engine.
Is their a Volvo plug and play for a temp fix? Have read many post but none seem to be 100%
on what to buy. $10,000 for a replacement also does not work.
Need a Re-builder Richmond area.

Have you talked with Josh? If he visits your area from time to time, it seems like the way to go.
As for a drop in, the engine out of the 260 of a similar vintage is the same. However not entirely, so if you are looking for a headache free direct replacement you would need a PRV from a delorean.

Where is $10k reference coming from ?

I believe he is referring to the "crate" engines from DMCH. Not really a drop in solution either, without rebuild work.

Roger that. I was wondering cause it seems DMCH made their engine value at 0.00 o_O...

Josh would that Volvo 260 be between an 81 to 83?

I stand corrected. A crate engine comes with a full rebuild with a complete stage 2 package (including exhaust).

Yes, this is taken from the tech wiki, not confirming this information though:
Volvo 260 V6, 1980-1986
Volvo 760 GLE, 1980-1986
There may be some differences between the motors. I have a feeling the lower crankcase may be different. But I cannot confirm or deny this. Hopefully someone with more knowledge on the subject can contribute to this thread.
Keep in mind this is also a 30 year old motor you are looking for, chances are it will have quite a few miles and be pretty tired...
