Or at least I'm hoping it does. I'm sure most of you are aware of the "thick" and "thin" style of wheels, but if not, I've attached a picture. It doesn't refer to the spokes, but the hubs in the center of the spokes:

I myself have a mis-matched set, thick front, thin rears. I'm hoping someone else has the reverse and would be interested in a trade. I was planning to have my rims repaired and painted over the winter, but I feel like I should try and get a matched set before doing so. Anyone else in the same boat?

I've got some thick cast that need refinishing that I'd be willing to trade straight up for some thin cast. Just let me know...

I used to have one mismatched front wheel... it would be interesting to know how many other people do too. I traded with another member here a while back who was in the opposite situation I was in.

I'm guessing probably quite a few cars have mismatched wheels because it is a fairly easy thing to overlook.

Not sure it helps at all, but I've got all thin cast but would trade for all thick cast in equally nice shape. I prefer the look of the thick cast.

Haha, I'm working on a trade with Nightflyer and I'll end up with all thicks, but would prefer all thins. But I'm torn, because my car should have all thicks.

A little OT, but I once checked out a car sitting at a used car dealer a few years back and discovered it had Mismatched Wheel COLORS. Both Driver side were (Silver) Both Passenger side (Dark grey). The only thing I could find out about the car was that it was a local Original owner car on consignment and the owner was in his late 70's in poor health. I don't know what eventually happened to the car. I do know the used car dealer was asking way too much for it based on it condition. The dealer would not consider anything less the 21.5K. and had turned down an Ebay bid of 19.5. I remember when I inquired with the sales guy about the asking price and he said what It was, my reply was "Well good luck with that, I'll be frank, based on the condition it's a 15-16K car". The best part was that I drove my D when I went to look at it, so the guy couldn't say I did know what I was talking about.

When the factory made the change in wheel design, I believe they just used up the original stock first and then started fitting the updated wheel. So some cars during the changeover received mismatched wheels. I believe Nick mentions this in his book.

Well, keep me posted! We're both in Canada so shipping wouldn't be an issue.

I'll actually be driving right past his place in about 2 weeks, so no shipping required. But if things fall through, you're next in line :)

Once we do the swap, LordFly will have a complete matching set of the thick cast, but would prefer a set of thin casts. sdg3205 has a complete matching set of thin casts, but would prefer a set of thick casts. So, after LordFly and I do a swap, he can then get his thick casts refurbished and swap them with sdg3205 for his thin casts. Everyone will then be 100% happy

Dead on!

I think DMCMW is still the place to get rims refurbished out your way. Color matching the original rim paint is damn tricky, but the DMC franchises seem to have it down to a science IIRC.

Color match?

I can only see two wheels, how do you know the other two are not yellow, or neon green? :rolleyes1:

It's certainly different... I do like that the DeLorean lettering on the rear bumper has been colour-matched.
