This is my 15th Delorean Time Machine owned by NBA super star Tony Parker with the San Antonio Spurs.
He bought this car with 600 miles on it and it had 1001 when it rolled into the shop!
I know I will get some hate about that, but the customer gets what the customer wants!!!

Very Cool Bob, love the sound effects and all the gagets but ugh.... a 1000 mile car. Look at that beautiful original binnacle that now has something glued to it. Ugh..

Well, on the bright side, my 7,000 mile unrestored car just increased in value.

Nice job on the car, Bob. I'll keep an eye out on TNT or whatever to see if they show it one day after a game. Would love to see if the Big Fundamental can fit in the passenger seat. Maybe Ernie, Kenny and Sir Charles will do a little BTTF reenactment for us?!

Your fog machine in the trunk... does it vent/release a bit of fog while it is being used, or right after it is used? When you lifted the bonnet, it looked like some fog was venting from it in there and was wondering if that might cause some issues over time with any of the electronics mounted in there or the battery pack, etc.?

Johnathan, Tony is not all that tall. He fits fine.
I was also talking with Tim Duncan and he is pretty tall!!!
They were both interested in my cars when they came to see me a month ago.
I put the fog machine in the front because it needs to have room to cool as well as be accessed easily by the user.
Fog machines fail a lot so I designed it so that it could be removed in minutes and be replaced easily.
It also makes it easy to fill. The extra weight from the batteries helps the front end in both stance and handling!
We also design the system to "bleed" a little bit to add to the effect, a little from under the tires, under the car, etc.
You have to create a good mixture of air with the fog to get it to move, if you cram it into the pipe without including
open air it will re-condense back to a liquid.
For this reason we do add a weep hole on the bottom which will leak a little fluid from time to time, but it's just deionized water
so it's not harmful.
After doing 15 cars we have figured out all the tricks!!
Thanks!!!

Hey man, I understand... but honestly, miles or no, it's not much different that most of the cars we get.
After sitting around 30 years these cars all have the same overall look. It's just a number on a dial.
I remember stopping in to see James Espey and Stephen a few weeks ago and told them about the car,
"I delivered that car to Tony myself!" James relented... "Such a sad waste of a car!" they said.
Unfortunately the truth is, without this movie and this version of the car, those guys wouldn't even be in business.
At least, not on their level, because I believe if not had been for BTTF, the Delorean would be no more known
than the Bricklin or a 100 other exotic dead cars.
Almost everyone who has bought one in the last 25 years did so because the movie made them aware of it.
Yes, I know, a few older guys remember when it came out and wanted one from the original promotion, but the rest of
us in our 30's and 40's are BTTF fans and our first exposure to the car was the movies.
As I have said before, out of a possible 9200 cars there are only about 30 Time Machines on the planet.
This is less than one half of a percent of the total cars made, pretty insignificant, but the impact these cars
make on the Delorean industry is impactful.
Every time a fan sees one of these Time Machines and becomes interested in Deloreans, it supports all the vendors
when that fan goes out buys a Delorean.
This supports not only the sales of cars and parts but the licensing of the DMC logo and cars image on shirts, toys and collectables.
All of those BTTF fans who became owners and supported the vendors created a community large enough to support the recreation of
out of stock parts and the sourcing of things we need.
All of us as Delorean owners owe a debt of gratitude to the film makers for putting this car on the map and making it immortal though these films.
So in my opinion, the sacrificing of a low mileage car to build an exquisite Time Machine for a high end celebrity who might get some good air time
with it will only strengthen the community.
When another fan sees his car they may seek out information on Deloreans and buy one themselves!!!
Honestly, that's how I got into it!
Thanks!!!
- Bob

More like 70 cars, but your point is still valid, Bob.

(you and Bruce have done about 30 between you)

If I was a betting man which I am not.
I would bet there are around 50 BTTF cars Worldwide.

Just a thought!

Not to start up another flame here, but I have a documented 15 cars.
Bruce doesn't have any where near that many, he tries to count parts that he sold to people as a "car",
which doesn't fly in my book. I have a photo album on my facebook of each and every build I have done.
He refuses to show his. If he can show me separate builds with different VINS and props then maybe I would believe it.
That said, Danny has done about 4 or 5 I think, Gary has done about 6 I think, there there are all the
single built versions out there and of course the originals.
So who knows the exact number?
My guess it that it's under 50 cars worldwide.
BTW, I only count it as a 'build" if there was true damage done to the car in the way of drilling holes
and permanently mounting the props.
Some double sided tape and a Flux in the back doesn't count in my book!! lol
Again, by percentage it is an insignificant amount of cars in the grand scheme of things
and although a few of my builds were on "good" low mileage cars, none of them were of historic significance.
For instance, I wouldn't do this to a historic car like 502, or the Prototype, etc.
I do have a certain level of respect for these cars, after all, I am a fan and a 10-Year owner!
Thanks!

Undoubtedly, it's a hard group to put a number on, or agree what is/isn't a replica. Even if there were/are 60-65 replicas, that's still only 1% of the 6500 cars left (and there is another unsubstantiated number :) )

As much as I can't stand this guys work ethics, this is all pretty damn valid. Like it or not, Deloreans are popular due to that film. It's not like our cars live off positives such as reliability and build quality now is it ;-)

MY "work ethic"?
I don't think you know what that term means, because I work no less than 10 hours a day.
My team and I built this magnificent car in only 10 business days.
As a matter of fact, this year alone, we built 5 complete Time Machines and 3 Bluemobiles, not to mention about 20 Proton Packs.
I will take the Pepsi challenge with my stuff and anyone else's anytime.
My work ethic is just fine.
Thanks for your support!!!

Thanks guys.
The fog is a little more complicated than it looks and it took us a while to perfect it.
The fog machine itself is only $300 but the inverter to run it, the batteries to run the inverter,
the charging system for the batteries, the brackets that mount the machine,
the remote on/off switch, the pipes that run under the car, the metal
hoses that feed to the vents.... etc.
Its a tremendous amount of work!
The way we are doing it now works perfect without failure and replacement would be simple if needed.
Thanks!

Thank you. An unused car is a useless car as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't matter if it's a zero mile car, or a million-mile one that was wrecked and half burned to a cinder. You'd still have people bitching that it shouldn't be converted. In all honesty, what does it really matter? Just drive the damn thing.

Is that a sideways exhaust I see Videobob?

Yes, just like the original screen used cars, the exhaust must be modified to go out the sides to make room for proper placement
of the rear mounted "Flux Boxes", it also re-directs the exhaust so it doesn't interfere with the bands a lights.
Some of my earlier cars skipped this and we worked around it, and others had a custom exhaust that would not allow it.
Each build is a little different depending on the specifics of the car.

Nice job on car #15 VB. Glad to see you're getting better with practice. No dig just being honest. I and my team are up to 12 in house, built from the ground up, in our shop and then shipped to our client Time Machine builds. With each new complete custom build, we find new ways to improve, simplify and make better. It's the old saying...."Practice makes perfect".

Now to address the incorrect statements made by Videobob or VB in the above quote posted on DMCTalk on 12-12-2013.
1- Coulombe Enterprises has been commissioned to build and has built and shipped to paying clients 11 transformed Delorean Time Machines to date. Two more are in house as of this date 02/03/2014 to be completed. Why do you continue to assume to know what goes on, in and out of my business. We are not and never have been friends, We do not talk or share info. So why do you post without knowing facts.

2- Yes we sell and have sold BTTF and other props and vehicles since 1996 but, with the BTTF Time Machines - NO - we do not counts the kits, parts or complete sales of all props to the Delorean Time Machine as one of our on hands builds. Your statement is completely false and I and my team do not care what fly's in your books. Our vin #'s are registered and verified here on DMCTalk along with real people invited to view my proof and have spoken the truth for which you ignore. But that's Ok by me because I have dealt with guys like you all my life and my experience has taught me this..... those who can do,"DO IT". Those who "TRY" to do, do their best to discredit those that do!

3- Another post made falsely ignoring the facts. Coulombe Enterprises does have a Face Book pages and websites chronicling all of our work, Muscles cars, Kit cars, Robots, movie props, electronic kits, NASA awards, College degrees, Major theme parks vendor cards, numerous accreditations and much much more, OH YES, even all the Delorean Time Machines with vin numbers. Just because I don't share with you (no reason too) or you spit out baseless, false facts because you don't want others to know or believe, doesn't mean you can claim or post it as a fact. It only make you look and sound ignorant. My family, my GOD, my friends, my co-workers, my past employers, teachers, professors, my paid customers and "ALL" my written documentations make what I do, have done since I been in business since 1996 and will continue to do so into my future.

Anyone want to see our factual work being preformed can do so by going to our live video feed/broadcast on UstreamTV.com and type in Delorean Time Machines. It is boring to watch but it is its main purpose is to give our real clients and future real clients a sense of security by having a "RealTime" window into our shop in seeing the real work being performed and progressing on their real projects.

Guys like you who throw around the word "God" and try to come off as innocent make me want to puke.
You know what a thief and a liar you are.
You know what you have done and the lies you have told.
You know you claimed credit for my works and in your early days would actually send photos of my work to customers pretending to be your own,
I know this is true as I posed as customers to you to see what you would send me!!!! Fool!
You claimed to do the props on the movie "Super Capers" when in fact it is MY NAME on the credits.
You claim all sorts of props for "movies and TV" yet you don't have a single IMDB listing, your name or company name doesn't have a single credit for
anything, anywhere except where YOU make it up.
1996? You are trying to tell me you made Time Machines before Bob Brandys? Before Doug Vaders? Before Joe Pace? Before Danny Botkin?
Before Gary Weaver? Before Monte Chamos? Before Charles Kline? Before ME????
No, you didn't.
You didn't build and complete a time machine until after I has built half a dozen.
There is a very good reason why you are black balled by Universal and the Time Machine Restoration Team.
It is because of your lies, back stabbing and what not.
Remember the deals you and I had made? You have gone back on every one of them!!!
You are the worst kind of scum Bruce, everything that comes out of your pudgy midget face is a lie while you sit
there and talk GOD to me? Go fXXX yourself.
Look at the way you hang that "Universal Florida" sign up that you probably got from Rob or off eBay, as if you represent them in some way.
Guess what, you don't.
My problem with you is not that you are competition, it is that you are a scumbag.
I get along fine with many other builders and owners, we all work together just fine.
It's you dude. It's all the lies, broken promises and the way you do things that pisses me off.
Now, you have managed to hire enough people and outsource enough of your work that you can assemble cars
with the help of some other people by simply using my work as a reference, you pathetic hack!!!
That's cool. We are all in the game of plagiarism I guess, except unlike you I went to the source, I did it right
with the right people. I went over the head of the chumps with websites who "claim" to know everything and I went
to the guys who built the originals, the places where they were built and the people who conceived of this stuff in the first place.
I did my due diligence. You, like a vulture... followed behind me to sniff my poop, which is what you produce. - poop.
So take your Fisher-Price goofy looking disco ball "Time Machines with Style" and drive one off a cliff....

I'm always saddened by the way the BTTF builder's community hate on each other constantly.

It's one of the reasons I'm working on my own conversion. Even daring to ask others for help gets me insulted and told to fly to Universal and bribe the guards myself if I want even basic dimensions....ugh.

Instead of hating on each other, why don't you just either be nice or keep your mouth shut?

I agree. The constant pot shots, bickering, and one-upping is doing nothing but harming the community. Each of the known BTTF builders (Danny Botkin, Video Bob, and Bruce) are spread out across the country (California, Texas, and Florida respectively). There should be no reason that each one can't have all the business they could ever need. I don't know if Bob and Bruce are just trying to put each other out of business or actively try to dissuade customers from choosing the competition, but it is very unprofessional and juvenile. It's part of the reason I chose to avoid both of them when I selected who would do my conversion.

I know it is possible to promote your business without tearing the other guy down. You don't see this kind of feud between DPI and the DMC Vendors. Each has their place and are doing just fine.

I'm eyeballing it.

So far, Bob has defended himself. Now, allegations are flying left and right, so here's what I'll say:

Bruce and Bob - you two don't have to get along, but PM each other and work it out or agree to not communicate. You two have both got your fair share of both your minds in this - now please both drop it.

The time-machine community is obviously very passionate about what they do. Let's not let this get any uglier.

As for the rest of the forum, remember that there are all of 3 mods right now, and a BUTTLOAD of conversations/topics on this forum. One thing I told the admins before becoming a mod here: I will not alter my forum surfing habits to hold everyone's hands and make sure everyone plays nice.

My point: if you see something that you think violates the rules and needs to be brought to our attention, please PM us. Do not expect 3 of us to comb the forums every day. We all have lives, and we cannot be on the forums covering all parts of it all the time. Sometimes, we need the community's help to keep this place churning right along.

Thank you, everyone!

If this topic gets any more feisty from the B's - Bob and Bruce - I'm locking it. For now, I'll leave it be.

As a word of advice for the Time Machine Builder's community overall, though I'm not one nor own one (but would like to be a builder), check out how the R2 Builder's community works (which I am very proud to be a part of). We are VERY passionate about screen-accurate droids from Star Wars, well, most of us are. There are some people who join and want to build their own custom droid, or try to and build something that comes kind of close to R2D2, but the resemblance is way off in some cases. But to us that's okay. Most of those folks, as well as a lot who build pretty accurate droids, do so for the love of the movie, the Star Wars Universe, and for something cool to display and show off to friends and family. Then there are those of us with the intention of taking ours to charity events, school assemblies, and to use with Lucasfilm/Disney sanctioned events like commercials, product launches, and even Disney events like D23 (which my R2 was a part of for the Star Wars Land teaser). To get to that point, your droid must be approved by Lucasfilm.
Unlike the BTTF Time Machine builders, we are permitted to only build these for ourselves, and only use for charity, or events that are non-profit, unless LFL calls us. We can't make kits, etc. Builders can do parts runs, like domes, electronics, skins, etc., at cost.
When used by Disney, we are representatives of Disney and thus temporary employees of the company. On the forum (astromech.net) everyone helps anyone who wants to build a droid. There is NO competition, or bad blood, or snuffing those who have an interest. Yes, we get some idiot posters and they get banned. But that only happens once in a blue moon.
I had noticed a while back when I was on the Time Machine Builder's forum, there were some helpful people, but there was a majority of those who wanted to keep all the work they had done close to their chest, and not share what they had learned (this was maybe 3 years ago).

I get that Bob and Bruce have a business, but really, do they need to compete and put each other down? I think both make cool versions of the Time Machine, and if I were looking to do one, depending on the look and features I want like hover or a glowing reactor, then I know I would go to Bruce. And for a lot of the cool stuff Bob does, and that's what I wanted, I'd go to him.
However, watching them go at each other like this makes me not want to go to either of them. Yes, they are both very qualified, but to me (and I would assume most customers), it's also about not just professionalism to the customer, but to other builders - you belong to a very elite, special group of people who make a replica of one of the coolest movie cars in history - a brotherhood more or less. In my opinion, you should treat each other with honor, respect and dignity, because not a lot of people can do what you do.

In the R2 builders, we help each other, learn from each other, and depend on each other to come up with new gadgets and then share the plans, or make and sell those gadgets. The rest of us benefit from that which makes R2 even more real to children of all ages. Whenever I take him out, I have people who think I'm a celebrity when they find out I'm part of the R2 Builders, and are honored to know me because they see us as people who have brought a movie institution to life (even more so than the 501st).

You're both adults, do great work, and could benefit from each other in SO many ways.

With a lot of respect to both of you,
Greg

Greg,
thanks for your insight.
I would like to say that honestly at the root of things, my issue with Bruce isn't that he is competition, but the way he does business when concerning me
and the things he tells other people about me, privately and publicly.
I get along fine with many other builders and owners.
Remember, I don't just build Time Machines, I also do Ghostbusters cars and props, Blues Brothers, A-Team, Knight Rider, the list goes on.
I have many peers who also build these exact same cars and props and we are all great friends. We socialize, we trade parts and secrets and
help each other out on a regular basis. So this is not the issue.
I have expressed what some of my grips about Bruce are and I don't need to re-hash them.
The bottom line is that he keeps making it a point to come onto my threads and interject his unwanted opinions,
he mentions me in his ads and videos, makes reference to me and trash talks me to potential customers.
He has also made agreements with me in the past and broken every single one.
SO for this reason I can not trust him nor can I allow him to continue to harass me and just sit there and take it. I refuse.

Also, regarding the well known rules of the Star Wars / Droid world, I am aware of these types of regulations among fan groups.
As for myself, I have direct relationships with Universal Studios as an officially licensed prop builder.
It was Bob Gale himself who endorsed me and set up the meeting with them to make it happen.
Kevin Pike also acts as a booking agent for me and my cars as well as helps me with information and sourcing.
I contributed to the Time Machine Restoration team in every way that I could and I was recognized by them on the plaque mounted
on the screen used car on display at USH.
So I think I have done my due diligence in that area of this hobby and this business.
I am the ONLY builder in this hobby who can claim these things and THAT is what my competition wishes they could tear down,
unfortunately my reputation for a quick, affordable product keeps me in business and surpassing anyone who tries to compete.
So what do these people resort to? Lies. Propaganda. Slander. Liable. Harassment.
It's ridiculous!!!
I will do my best to restrain myself but I will not be pushed around and bullied by anyone.

I don't claim to know all the history nor do I keep tabs on all the different forums or messages where any of these "debates/arguments" are happening.

I can tell you one thing though, from what I have seen on this forum, including who I perceive to start many of these comments as well as the Time Machine related videos produced and the little jabs at others they tend to include... I would be calling VideoBob if I ever was going to get a conversion done on my car.

I have been impressed with the quality of his builds shown in the videos. Even if his work was noticeably poorer quality than his competitor (which I personally don't think is the case), I would still rather work with him just because of the way all these threads seem to unfold.

He looks to me like he's trying his best to take the high road and yet at the same time won't stand by and take abuse others are initiating.

I guess the simplest way to put it is it's just the way I see it. Like I said, "perception." No one ever said it had to be right or wrong. All of us choose various things every day because of the way we see them. I just happen to perceive the Time Machine building industry a certain way and would spend my money according to those same views. I think most consumers do the same.

Jonathan, thank you for your comments.
As you can see, there are those out there who like to join in on the bully band wagon unsolicited.
If you want to know more about Gary Weaver II, simply google "Letter to Gary Weaver from Bob Gale" and see what you find.

To compare my work to others who build these cars,
I make REPLICAS of the car the Delorean Time Machine seen in Back to the Future.
The other builders out there make their own renditions of that car, but not always a true "replica".
Other builders might add flashing colored lights, or tidy little fuse boxes and remote controls to their cars
which I suppose is neat to those who want that sort of thing.
Where as, I use my hands on research of the original car to try to put it together the way the original team did.
Sometimes that means that the bundle of wires uses in-line fuses and not a relocated fuse box in a place where
it is not supposed to be. The car is supposed to look like a scientist built it in his garage as a prototype, not a disco jambox.
I don't use sound effects unless they are going to actually sound authentic.
I would rather use a replicated original part instead of a coffee thermos or a kitchen meatloaf pan, flower pot
or tupperware.

In the end, this is all preference and experience.
My business reputation is positive on the BBB, ebay and elsewhere.
I am respected and accepted by my true peers and my customers are all happy to give me referrals.
A few jealous people out there who are bitter about other people's success don't really matter to me anymore.
Success really is the best revenge.

It's a great letter. I have the real one here at the house. I read it, laughed at how misinformed it truly was and at the end thought...

"He, he, he. I got Bob Gale's autograph" :)

I keep debating if I should sell it or get it framed. Hell, at first i even thought it was fake. All of my friends that I've shown it to think the same thing. They know me, know the history, and couldn't help but laugh at such a poorly run, modern day witch-hunt.

I found it flattering that nearly two years after it was written, Bob Gale himself saw fit to take what I assumed was a private correspondence and share it with the leaders of the Restoration Team. All with the intention that could publicize it with the entire BTTF Community in an attempt to silence me and my concerns shared privately with others in the BTTF Hobby. I guess it's flattering to have such a devoted fan base.

I suppose people do wierd stuff like that when you start asking the right questions.

It's hard to see how a disclosure from 6-8 months ago (of a letter that's even older) is even relevant in a genre that changes almost daily thanks to all the ego trips involved, but if thats all you got to run with... Go for it. The whole thing comes across as pretty desperate if you ask me.

Telling people to google anything is a pretty slippery route to take. I'd think the last thing you'd want people to do is to start googling Videobob. Some of that stuff will make you want to wash your eyes out with bleach.

Exactly.

I saw it put this way too: "Stop always feeling the need to explain yourself. Your friends don't need to hear it and your enemies won't believe you anyway."

+1 big time on the humility too. Watch how someone like Ernie Els behaves after winning a major golf tourney and then go look at the rest of the "touchdown dance" idiots in most of the sports out there. Let your work speak for itself.

And as John Wooden would say, focus more on your character than your reputation. Your character is what you truly are all about and your reputation is only what others think about you. Your character is the only one that matters.

Thank you to Jimmy and Tony for your appreciation!!!

Right on Bob, that's great!

Remember I spoke to you at DCS for a few minutes and I had basketball questions for you? This is really neat to see. And talk about publicity for the cars!! And not just you alone as a builder (as they didn't mention any DMC community names in particular), but any of the builders.

Imagine if the people out there that have the kind of money an NBA all-star does, or other pro athlete, or perhaps a Hollywood animator/producer type... and they see this sort of thing catch on and realize... "wait a minute, are you telling me it's now okay to actually enjoy the things I always liked and they aren't mocked at being dorky and maybe even actually seen as cool??!!"

"And... are you telling me that I can actually have one of these movie cars for a fraction of the cost of these other cars in my fleet which I drive around and no one really notices or cares??!!"

All I'm getting at is, it might be a good time for you and the other builders to think about cleaning up your public image in case there comes a tipping point and people start flooding in to buy time machine cars. You don't need to spend more than a minute or two on Google to find some pretty ugly bad mouthing of or between the replica guys and if I was running a business such as yours and thought that future buyers might look at who has a good reputation for quality and overall experience, I'd be doing my utmost to not come out looking like bad news.

Any number of blogs or threads might convince someone out there to pick a guy that sounds like he has more happy customers. None of us on here care too much as we've read a lot more on the subject than most of these potential buyers and have our opinions anyway, but you know how people are and they aren't likely going to dig too deep and instead go on their first instinct, right or wrong. Just my two cents anyway. I think your cars and plenty of other builds look great. But some folks out there might not be able to look past other details and it could cost some of you some cash.

Actually, Tony is just a friend of mine and also a customer, who happens to play basketball for a living.
I have never watched one of his games or any other NBA game actually.
But when one of my friends and customers is doing something positive in his life and needs my help, I am there for him.
So when the Jimmy Kimmel show called me yesterday to ask permission to use photos of the car from my website, I told them that they could.
It helped him with his segment, and he texted me to say thanks!
being as though other people like this fellow at the DCS show took the time to talk to me about how exited he was to know Tony was a Delorean owner
I thought he would enjoy the exchange.
That's what this is really about, Tony is one of us!
He is a fan of the Delorean and Back to the Future.

So, stop being a dick.

You wound me, sir.

Can't a fan express his admiration?

Is there any sort of a TROLL policy here?
This guy, http://dmctalk.org/search.php?searchid=1442365
Doesn't own a Delorean and doesn't really talk about them, he just comes here to TROLL.
Look at his posts, none of them are Delorean related, he's just a jerk, for no reason what so ever.
People like him ruin the value of a site like this!!!
Get rid of this flea already.

Thanks for the advice.
I will work on that.

People like Tony Parker don't go on forums like this and could care less.
He met me at a show and saw my work first hand and wanted it.
With the exception of this one, latest person who is causing me a problem, most of my customers are usually wealthy enough to handle
buying the car, maintaining it, etc.
People like this most recent customer are people who should not be buying something like this if they can't afford it
and they are going to stress out about the value of old, removed spare parts for a few hundred dollars!
Tony Parker makes 21 Million a year, I could have given him any price I wanted and he would have paid it.
But, I gave him the exact same quote that I give everyone and treated him no differently than any of my other customers.
Like the other dozens of people who have bought cars from me they are all thrilled!

Tony sent me this message today....

This is the most nauseating example of vanity, self-righteousness and bullshit I have come across in a long time. I had to towel myself off from all the shit after reading this.

So your point here is you really only like to deal with the top 1% and because they don't keep tabs on a few hundred bucks worth of "stuff" while you do with it what you want. Maybe your business can get by with this mentality but the real world doesn't work that way.

I don't agree with this nor think it's very fair to post it on Bob's thread. And it's nothing about Jeff in particular.

Not that this one example prompts me to say this (as there are pages of them unfortunately on the forum in many subjects), but maybe we need a "rule" about being pleasant that's similar to the for sale rules. If you don't have a comment or question about buying the poster's car, then don't leave your opinions in that person's thread.

If we need to call it the "troll rule/Golden rule" for threads in general, if you don't have something nice to say, then don't say it. Not that everyone has to agree on every subject and we can't debate or discuss things, but for the posts that are just more or less negative with no real purpose, we could all probably get along better without them.

From some of the owners or friends I know more personally than strictly online, most that don't use the forum much anymore have decided that because it's too often not pleasant here. I don't think it's a "need thick skin" requirement here as you shouldn't need to have that to come looking for information or ideas. For some people that negative flavor is enough for them to leave and not come back, which sucks for all of us.

Sorry. I usually try to refrain but this one just hit me wrong.

But IMO if you post something on a forum where different opinions are shared then it can't be sunshine and cookies all the time right? Otherwise this would be a pretty boring forum.

I'm not trying to start crap here and I did refrain from the Adam vs VideoBob thread. I've got no iron in either fire and I plan to keep it that way.

What? The Internet is mean? You don't say... You can't make an "always be nice" rule. That's not how life works. People have different personalities and communication styles. That's what makes a diverse marketplace of ideas.

And it's doubly interesting that you say this in defense of Bob who is one of the worst offenders around here of being vicious, insulting, and aggressive in his attacks.

I admit, the entire thread was to brag...
I was so proud of the fact that I built this car for such a prominent celebrity and I just wanted to show it off is all.
It's cool to know that Tony is both a Delorean fan and owner as well as a Back to the Future fan.
Being that he is a role model, a lot of his fans will be interested to know about it.

I have a weird life and I have a lot of amazing friends.
For those that support me I appreciate you!
I can't control how the others feel about me, sorry.

Hey, no question the world/Internet is a cruel place or mean or whatever. I just don't think having an opinion or differing personalities or communication styles is a reason to allow people to be dicks to each other. No one was saying we all have to agree on every idea or be best buddies right across the board. My intention was to propose a be civil with each other or expect to be asked to leave environment. Yes the internet is sort of the wild west with no rules and you can do whatever you want, but there are limits. If you were sitting in a town hall meeting or congress or whatever there are ways you can communicate and ways you can't. You can still voice your opinion and get your message across without being childish or crass about it.

I don't know Bob much better than many of the people on here. He's no saint and neither am I nor you. I can see that there are times we are all at fault for stirring something up and other times you weren't given a chance because something happening elsewhere was brought up into a different discussion. If defending Bob because I thought he was getting unnecessarily shat on is how it came across to you, then so be it, guilty as charged. Much of it turns into just a form of playground bullying with a mob mentality and I'll always stick up for someone getting picked on. Advice I heard a while back from someone on here that appears easy to see but often hard to adhere to, is that you are never going to win an argument in an internet forum. Yet we all continue to try now and again. That's the piece about it coming across like a bullying mob to me that more than anything is why I think people stop coming here.

Not "ATTACKS", more like, "DEFENSE".
I don't go out and attack people, I simply retort to other people who come here and attack me first, then I respond.
Sometimes the attack doesn't begin here but is brought here.
That is not my fault or my problem.

Let's take YOU for instance.
We have never done business, never met, never talked.
However, you are a douche to me for no reason what so ever.
Even after I attempted to call you and talk to you to try to help you with your business and cooperate
with you to be in my rental network, again, you were a douche.
What the fuck did I ever do to you?

Here is the deal though, if you don't like me that's YOUR problem, not mine.
I refuse to sell out, to be someone I am not or to kiss someone's ass just for a paycheck.
If that offends you, that's your problem and I am not going to apologize for it.

You are the one who came here into my nice little thread to piss all over it for no reason what so ever.
