Wow, those hood bumper stops did nothing (they're supposed to catch the hood to prevent decapitation).

Yikes... where are they located? do they catch the hood near the windshield and force it to bend rather than pop up?

Not familiar..haven't seen one in person.

Yes, they're a safety feature in every modern car. They're the studs that stick up near the windshield. Take a look under your hood, you'll see the metal brackets with the cut out to catch them if the hood gets pushed back toward the driver.
